EQS 297 and S class 223 don’t share the same platform. EQS sedan 297, EQS SUV 296 and that EQE 295 they are all based on EVA 2.0. The only thing that they share with the S class is the STAR3 topology.
I love your show. Watch every episode.

I have a Tesla S Ludicrous. Ordered this for my wife in this red color and Pinnacle Trim (includes hyperscreen). Should arrive by the end of the year. Car looks excellent. It is not perfect but certainly very good. IMHO, at $85K better value than the Tesla S and $140K.

Why a 10% higher drag coefficient over EQS? Now it they made it look way better... But not really. And a clumsy sedan letterbox boot rather than a lift back.
Now if it came as wagon with good frunk and heat pump, a car people would love to have, but it's BARE BONES however much you spec it up. Makes Lucid as a brand really look up. All they need to do is sort the boot situation.

But the S-Class has always been an expression of what will be common place in every manufacturer's repertoire five or six years later. Airbags, ABS, stability control (branded as Electronic Stability Programme), radar based cruise control (Distronic and Distronic PLUS), keyless ignition (Keyless GO), etc. The EV propulsion is no different. It will be commonplace across the ranges from every manufacturer in less than a decade.

0:14 I would add exhibit C, the plasma TV circa 1997. Remember those? The "huge" 47 inch flat panel plasma TV that was $17000-$20000! Along with everything new in tech, the rich are always the guinea pigs. Once they all buy into it, giving the companies the money needed to recoup their development expenditures, the prices will come down for the rest of us.

Watching Merc’s EQ line development and curious if the CLE will have an EQ model. Agree with the nesting dolls comment and in a good way the 2014-2021 S/E/C benefitted from it, however this EQ series I can see the design flow down to C class and personally not excited for it.

32 minutes for what Korean cars do in 18. Porsche same.
The VW Buzz does it in 29 or so.
Is Mercedes even trying? Horrible packaging, worse drag than EQS, no heat pump in 2022... And the smaller battery.
Same size Lucid Air has hugely more.

    Thanks MotoManTV, another great video.
I am trying so hard to like these EQ sedan designs, but man, I just can't warm up to them. Their rear end designs are just not well balanced for me. This maybe also due to their long wheelbase and the rear ends being too stubby that throws me off. I guess we all have designs that we love from our past and have our muscle memory in our thinking that when we see something different, we reject it initially. So far though, I just can't warm up to them. I guess I'm gettin' too old.
    Cheers,
    M

I guess that is the "bread & butter" model from Mercedes, for the driving traveling business person, mostly leased. It comes with all the power you want and can pay. It's a new design language since the EQS formed by...yeah lets say wind. Aerodynamic is key for range. Its not standing out. You need to get inside and close the door. The design language works better on SUV´s, I know ....never thought I would write / say that. Great review and I highly value your opinion.

In the uk base 350 starts at £75k. It’s usually $ for pounds so I think the EQE will range from $ 75 to $110k. So it’s compromised and expensive. I’m looking forward to seeing the Ioniq 6 , at least they’ve tried to make aerodynamics an interesting design not this bar of soap!

I'm so over this brand to be honest. I was once such an avid fan and loyal MB supporter. But having driven the new C Class and E Class with their low quality plastic fantastic interior, it's just a hard no. The feeling of quality and solidity is no longer there yet the prices are way above "non premium" brands. Other brands also have all the tech but are also bringing build and material quality. There's so much compromise now with all their cars and I get the sense that everything is built to a cost. BMW is the only German carmaker that has that solid build and material quality. Just compare an X5 to the horribly built GLE. I don't have hopes for their new cars based on their recent offerings.

One thing I’ve discovered with my Model 3 is that Tesla is a very different company than Mercedes. Everything from quality control to customer service (or lack thereof) has made me decide to keep my E400 and sell the M3. Love the car. Hate the company. Not sure this EQE is the solution, though…

Sarcasm has its limits. Couldn't you do a review without an underlying hostility? Rich people? The median price for a new car today is about $50,000. If you think Mercedes are for rich people and that's a problem, don't review Mercedes vehicles. Your audience don't need your social statements. Unless of course you have nothing informative to offer.
