- 6 episode series, based on the eponymous 1968 film about veteran Sgt. Dan Madigan investigating cases in New York City and Europe. Partial main titles in French.
Madigan is called to London to help Scotland Yard break up a crime ring headed by an American mobster. Guest Stars George Cole, Fiona Lewis, Garfield Morgan, Bernard Archard. On-location filming in London, England.
It's hard to believe that this is (was) only a TV show. The script, the on-location filming is close to feature film quality. Nothing about the pacing drags. The cross-cultural jokes make this shine. I am going to watch all of them.
Reality shows and streaming services were the last nails in the coffin of the good ole enjoyable television shows.
Thankssssss. The music from the old series is beautiful, and the same from the movies, now everything is boring without style or soul☺☺
Yes! Mr Quincy Jones thank you very much (at least the 1st one).
Brilliant!!! Great story, script and cast! Loved all of the outdoor locations; London in the 70's!
FANTASTIC! Spoilers: Story: so original, innocent girl, counterfeiters ... Amusing culture clash, great performances all. A++! We're loving this series; the fact that he's in different locales w/ different folks in each episode. And not just U.S.-based. Very cool.
I've never heard of Madigan before, but I like him! And I enjoyed watching, so thank you so much for sharing ❤️
Glad that you enjoyed it.
I was 15 in 1972 and if I'm not mistaken, part of that episode was filmed where I grew up in Notting hill Gate/Portobello Road, before they ever became trendy. This is an excellent series and this episode especially was most enjoyable, bringing back fond memories of my youth!
Brilliant film! Richard was a fine actor 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🥰🙏💕 thank you for posting x
Thanks for posting these. I'm really enjoying them!!
👮🏼♂️
That's wonderful.
sfinthecity,
Thanks very much for this Madigan episode set in London and featuring the English actor George Cole-well known as slippery "villain" Arthur Daley in comedic drama Minder on British TV
Happy that you liked it.
WHY Have I not seen this entertaining Richard Widmark's episodes before? It is all RUclips, and somebody failed to upload, but made up, better later than never! I intend to watch ENTIRE MADIGAN episode! USA
William P. McGivern -- one of the great writers of mysteries and police thrillers.
Fiona Lewis! Great actress! In the Fury, 1978! She was a favorite British actress growing up, 70s!
Very good series❤
Great episode great series
Thank you. Were were stationed overseas during the 70s. I never got to see any of these shows.
Nice.
Excellent series, great story lines
Never knew Madigan was such a softie chivalrous type . Widmark bringing New York to staid London . Great upload here 😂.
Thank you.
Good!!! and the ending- WOW!!!!
This show is a lot like Fawlty Towers. not enough episodes.
It’s hard to believe they didn’t give quality shows like Madigan a longer run. Richard Widmark was such a great person, not just a good actor.
Good episode. Thank you for posting.
Glad that you enjoyed it.
Fun series. I love how she got her pad all straightened up after it was totally trashed before Madigan got even 1/6th of the way through his pint. Lol
🕵️♂️ G R E A T - Thank You🕵️♀️
You're welcome.
Nice little cameo from Irene Handl - absolutely no need for her to be there, but good to see her all the same!
scotland yard logic was sweep it under the carpet while madigan didnt play that game
The actor portraying a constable was the main actor in the Brit tv show The Minder.
Wasn't this the same year Columbo went to London and eventually proved a scenery-chewing Honor Blackman and (less hammy) Richard Basehart had accidentally killed someone?
I hope so - that sounds great!!
Richard Basehart is only slightly less hammy, they're both being 'luvvies' in that one!
Have you heard of Watch It For Days? It's a RUclips channel run by a woman who does in-depth and rather charming reviews of Columbo episodes. She's done that one.e
Arthur Daley from Minder fame as a British bobby!
Damn, can do comedy also.

George Cole played young Ebenezer Scrooge in the movie The Christmas Carol
Alan Lake was the husband of Diana Dors.
Lake appears at 43:15 as Augie. His marriage to Dors beginning in 1968 was a rather tragic story. Although nine years her junior, they were truly in love until her death in 1984 from cancer. He lasted only five months more before committing suicide at age 43.
