Years back, Micah, we used a similar formula --- We mixed tallow with spruce sap --- the sap helped to change the smell and the texture of the emollient ---- Our sets and trap lines benefited, too --- I'm far past my furring days but young Joel has his days all before him -- We used to say as we ran our sets "Always Count Your Blessing and Then Count Your Fingers !" -- (VICTOR No.8 Double Springs were unforgiving ) --- Please Pray For The USA

That was a really great idea ! I wouldn't have thought to do that with the fat . Deer hunting is far from being free now with all the costs that go along with it . Thanks for sharing and have a blessed day !

Fat is actually so good for people also!! Why do you think the birds love it so much!! Natural deer and elk etc meat & fat is hormone and antibiotic free and way better to cook with than any processed seed or vegetable oil that most people rush out to buy at the store and it’s slowly killing them…. Use animal fat!! Research it… don’t just listen to what you hear go research it and eat it and see how much better you feel!!!
Great idea to use for leather treatment /soap etc!! Thank you for the video!!

I just wanted to again say how much I appreciate your channel, your family, and Frank. I also want to covet your prayers. On Wednesday the 4th I will be joining Frank's club. Two of my stents are blocked and I'll be having double bypass surgery. To complicate things I've had type 1 diabetes for 53 years and hva the beginnings of kidney disease. God has been good most people would have succumbed a long time ago. I know He is able to do above and beyond what we can imagine. Please pray for me and my bride Juanita as we face this together. Keep up the good work.

I LOVE your cowboy boots, McGie!! I've LOVED cowboy boots since I was little! I have a broken-in brown pair with a more pointed toe and stitching on the toe. I wear mine with loose jeans, jerseys and even shorts!! I LOVE the stitching on the toe of cowboy boots. I think it makes them stand out more. I LOVE how they make me look taller. I'm 5'10" and I wear size 12. Cowboy boots need their own paid holiday!! :) :)
I feel the SAME way you do about cowboy boots! 👍😎😊👊 I want a black pair next, maybe with the metal toe taps on them!! Can't wait!!

Fun fact, you do want that going in your arteries. It is much more soluble in blood than pork or beef fat and has high amounts of steric acid that raise good cholesterol and help reduce bad cholesterol 👍

@@McGieHomesteadAdventures I know it doesn’t seem intuitive but a lot of times old wives tales come from trying to use intuition in place of science. I’ve had to do a TON of digging to get passed all the intuition articles online about what kinds of fat are best.
      pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/19939984/
Soy bean oil is another saturated fat high in steric acid so this articles is more like comparing apples to apples in a sense. There hasn’t been much research on venison fat specifically but following the science it does seem to be much better for you than other animal fats and especially trans fats and other TFAs.
Being wild game, there is no way of controlling their diet which means sometimes the fat is going to taste gamey, go rancid faster, and even be non-existent. Rendering it like you did is one way to reduce the “mouthfeel” that most people hate and make it shelf stable so it won’t go rancid but another amazing application is soap.. once again because of the high levels of steric acid that is great for your skin.
