when i first looked at drums to potentially play, my dad told me I should look at Dave Grohl on Nirvana but, as soon as that led me to Foo Fighters and Taylor Hawkins, there was no going back. Taylor made me LOVE the drums. he is incredibly çherished and missed.
He was influenced by Dave who was influenced by Tony Thompson from Chic (someone you should become obsessed with too because he worked with everybody, including Bowie)- so you got influenced by the best of everyone. Good luck with the music!
i wonder why this song and this video are so underappreciated, I mean I've listening to this shit for like 5 years in a row and where's even the original video because this has like less than 2k views wtf
One of those sad realizations about life: you can miss so much living in your own zone- then someone passes and you find the little things you missed and totally dig. Not many songs with my old school name in them, damn sure none about me, but this made me smile for a name I wasn’t always very comfortable wearing. RIP Taylor, and thanks to the Louise who inspired this. Much love to your family both home and band. Give ‘em hell on the other side of the veil. ❤️
I worked on this video as a camera assistant. We got done shooting the Christmas tree set and I went back to grab something I left behind. Only person in this room was Taylor trying to rip on this toddler size drum set. He didn’t even notice me cause he was hunched over trying to do a Dale Grover style drum roll. I immediately thought two things: 1) This guy definitely has ADHD. 2) This guy’s purpose was to play the drums and music. It was a pleasure to meet you Taylor.
Vá em paz, meu querido. Minha adolescência foi mais suave graças ao seu talento e dedicação. Nessas horas eu queria acreditar em algo, crer que seu talento e energia não se perdeu
It's supposed that the drum riff in the 3/4 part was influenced by Phil Collins in Wot Gorilla from Genesis' Wind and Wuthering(1976) which was influenced by Nubian Sundance by Weather Report(1974).
But that’s just how some of Taylor’s music comes off feeling sometimes. When he wrote, it many times came off very honest. Esp when looking at a song yrs after it was created & w/the life events he went through in 50 yrs. It would prob be the same way if ANY of us wrote a song, but we don’t have T’s talent for lyrics. I appreciate his honesty & boldness, cause nobody’s life is all happy, giggles, perfect, or saintly. Not saying all his songs are autobiographical, but it’s easy to possibly see similarities. He wasn’t hypocritical & I give him mad respect for that! Hoping some of T’s unreleased songs will get put out w/time. ❤️🩹🦅

Thank you for that story, it’ll be stuck in my head like this cool song, I always picture Taylor doing stuff like that, intense and unfazed at how great a talent he was. That whole vibe of the song is perfect with the “home movies/nostalgia/Christmas tree scene and it perfectly captured Taylor’s innocence and pure emotion. To hear that he went back to those drums really reinforces the dedication he had to his craft. This sucks to not have him be such a positive force in our world. I’m sure he knows how much he’s loved by all of us fans, I hope so. 💔
This is one of those choruses that has popped into my head at random times through the years since it was released. Thank you for everything Taylor.
YES!!!! Same here
This chorus is absolutely epic
Literally why I'm here 😄
You're so right.
Three songs on endless rotation right now. Louise, Middle Child and Range Rover Bitch. Incredible tunes. Goddamn it I hate that he’s gone.
the prenup means nothing at all!

So glad I was able to see him perform this in 2010...love you Taylor. Thank you for everything. RIP
Rest in peace, absolutely legend. We will love you forever 😢🖤

YT's algorithm pushes certain stuff.
The underappreciated, it's fine. You and I know about it, and I like that small club

Although my name is the Brazilian version of it, I repeat the chorus over and over just to listen to his beautiful voice saying my name. 💙

Oh my god yes, its such a weird song, it give me lonely feeling vibes and a depressed feeling, but it feels good to listen
I do.

Sounds like good ol’ Dave had competition,Welcome to Studio 666 Where there can only be one Star

Genesis Wot Gorilla
At least he made it to 50! If only Kurt Cobain made it to 50 he probably wouldn't be as famous.
One of the last great rock stars…taken down by 3 forced jabs…💉💉💉 Tragic. RIP Taylor.
stick to playing drums
shut up this is good

insanely sad. I wish we all got to witness him in real life.
@@MajorCanada I knew that was his wife in that video.
