I bought the R200 about a year ago and returned it. Highs too shouty when pushed.
I got the L100 just 2 weeks ago, I like it better :) not too hot on the treble

bunch of respect for Erin, but he seems SO uninterested in talking about this question. other dude is just reading specs in real time as if this were the first time ever hearing about these two speakers.

I actually ended up buying a slightly used Denton 85th anniversary for 350 on marketplace 😎

That is very cheap. I paid more used too...probably double. I added a 1.5 ohm resistor to tame the ear fatiguing highs. 10W resistor is ideal. I prefer my R200....more neutral and better value. Now using R200 in my HT. Denton 85 in my 2 ch.

I’m happy with my Polk R700 Reference towers and L400 center. As recommended by James of Audioholics fame.

Hi I have R700 and R400 but I read the L400 is a better match with R700. Did you compare both R400 andL400 and if so was there much difference and worth the upgrade ?...Cheers.

    Short answer: R200 (IMO)

I have both. I much prefer the r200. The l200 has a low sensitivity and needs a big amp to get going. R200 and twice on Sunday.

a few weeks ago I had the same question when I noticed the L100 had a significant price drop. I watched some reviews, especially from those who reviewed both and compared them. I generally remember the L100 was from the much more expensive Legend series vs the R200 which is from the Reserve series. However, from reviews I gathered the R200 received enough of the L100 trickle down benefits that one could go with the cheaper Reserve. Ultimatily, I think both received general average to poor reviews with a couple good, it was enough for me to lean away from both, however I would probably happy with either if I did get them home.

Who's reviews have you been listening to? The R200 has a ton of GOOD reviews and rightfully so. That said, I would take the R200 over the L100 (for several reasons).

@@johndaddabbo9383 surely you can google it or search on yt as well as any 3rd grader? Of the top of my head Andrew Robinson, and the rest of the usual suspects.

It's wild if that's the impression you had because all the reviews with any reputation praised them with the only real quibble being the price of the L series.
You would be arguing about personal taste in sound (flat vs bright) trying to get better than the R series for their price, they are excellent.

Well, this video was a disappointment. I'm going through the same decision seeing the R200 and R100 currently at the same price. Nothing to see here that would help someone determine differences between the R200 and L100.

The truth is, the only way you're going to know which sounds best to you is to hear them both for yourself in person, all reviewers are just giving their particular opinion based on their preferences and are entirely subjective.
Listening to sound demos here is nice and can be helpful, but it's obviously limited. I have bought a few speakers that sounded great through the demos but upon hearing them in person, I was very disappointed.
I'd say to just do what Erin suggests in the video. If you're torn between two speakers, buy both, see which one you like, and return the other, Amazon has a good return policy. I'm curious because Amazon is selling the L100s for $499 right now, that's half off, it's actually cheaper than the R200s by quite a bit.

Not everybody has unlimited money to just try 2 speakers at once.
