For me, Todd is correct. Been there experienced all this emotion stuff. The ultimate authority is the Word of God. If it's not found in the Word of God I choose not to believe it any longer...to much deception out there in all these churches today. Todd explains this topic very well. Our walk is not based on emotions. I believe every (real) Christian experiences God individually in their own way the way God wants it for just them. My experience will not be the same as yours.
I was always taught that emotions and "feelings" are unreliable, and depending upon them as a spiritual indicator introduces the "seeking after signs" that the Word warns us against.
When i gave my life to christ june 14 of this year i can see the holy spirit sanctify me as i grow in my faith in christ and i met jesus in my sleep one night and gave me the holy spirit and it entered my body and i felt static go down my leg up to my crown , and many times at the beginning of prayer or worship music i feel the static start from my left leg up to my crown and the more im into my prayer the stronger the static becomes and it never was like this before i gave my life to christ
It is absolutely biblical to “feel” the Holy Spirit. Scripture says the Spirit empowers a believer, encourages, comforts, gives peace, joy, hope, faith, love of Christ, healing, wisdom, life, etc. The Spirit is Christ living in you which is enteral life. Someone who truly crosses over from spiritual death to life can feel it because they feel born again and alive inside. The mind and spirit are usually illuminated when reading scripture and it is drinking living water and sweeter than honey. The Spirit will prompt someone to do or not do something. The Spirit is like a force too that waged war against the desires of the flesh so you don’t sin. I would say it seems more unbiblical to say someone cannot feel the Holy Spirit or presence of God than not. The Bible tells believers they can have assurance they are saved because they have received the Holy Spirit which implies someone can tangably and biblically know they have it because it is a spiritual experience.
If we can ( feel) the conviction of sin from the Holy Spirit that leads to repentance, then why would we not ( feel) the presence of the Holy Spirit that leads us to prostrate ourselves in worship, and lift our voice in praise?
What about on the day of Pentecost when they were all speaking different languages and the Holy Spirit was like a fire upon their heads? As far as I can remember...
This is 100% wrong. I can remember the morning that I surrendered to Christ in prayer. And I felt the undeniable supernatural presence of the Holy Spirit come upon me.
what exactly did it feel like? because i thought i felt something like this once but couldn't differentiate it from a giant dopamine rush, so i wasn't sure, some context is it happened while i was reading the bible and had an epiphany
As for the hymn, there is a special presence of God's Spirit in the church which is His temple. We know this by faith and the Word of God. As for it's feeling, we cannot say anything about this authoritatively and would be wise to be very careful about trying to describe something that has no Scriptural authority. One could "feel" something that they think is God and it not be God.
Wrong God does not dwell in earthy temples AKA the physical church but the human temple with is the body. Believers are the church temple and body of Christ
@@creativechristiancontent I know you really wanted to say that I was wrong, but I never said that god dwelled in the physical church building. I said the church. The church is the assembly of God's people (believers in Christ). While it is true that God's Spirit dwells in our bodies individually, most of the verses which speak of His dwelling in us is speaking of the people of God collectively. So much so that the verses describe us as lively stones built together into a holy temple for the Lord. So, while the Spirit dwells in each of those lively stones, the emphasis is that we are built together to be this temple.
The Holy Spirit Exist. The Holy Spirit Is Powerful. The Holy Spirit Can Be given to you if you ask for. YES & YES you can feel His presence and also HIS Healing Power. Please read all the verses of the Bible about The Holy Spirit. The Bible said the Holy Spirit Is comforting, He Is a power, He Is a healer, He Is a Guider. How can you be comforted by Him and not feeling His presence. Please start reading your Bible and also understand the verses.
Chapter and verse about feeling Him please. I was in the charismatic movement for 20 years and thought I was FEELING His presence but it was all hubbub and hype. Which is fine. I am more close to God now because Im devouring His Word and understanding it in context! Now Im in awe of God more than ever!
I think we should be careful. Firstly - while I have laughed (out of joy) in worship, laughing in the spirit is not a scriptural thing. So we should be careful about labeling it as such. Also, speaking in tongues is not- contrary to some beliefs- mandatory for Christianity, but rather a gift given to some. And MOST people who “speak in tongues” do it not according to the way the scripture instructed. So it comes in to question often as to whether it is actually being done by the spirits leading. Thirdly, what it means to prophecy is misunderstood by many, and does not require a “feeling”, just as many other gifts do not require a “feeling” to exercise. Most of this is offensive to say, specifically to Pentecostals, but truthfully where there is an excess of emotion on a regular basis, there is generally a lack of STUDY in the scripture and a misunderstanding of spiritual gifts. Mr. Friel would not ever mock the Holy Spirit, but I would suggest that disorder in the church and excess in emotional behavior on a regular basis does. Now that said, I’m not saying that those of us who are more Pentecostal leaning aren’t saved by any means. They are our brothers and sisters. But I was raised in that environment (in multiple churches) and my experience has been that it often goes too far.
Paul tells why everyone spoke in tongues that day of Pentecost. It was a prophecy being fulfilled by jonah. A single event. I believe ppl do have tongues. But not an entire congregation. Don’t be deceived.
I have a guy at work that has went to a church that speaks in tongues and i strait up asked him if its real or people are faking it and he looked at me and said "some people are definitely faking it" and burst out laughing so I laughed with him. still not sure what to make of it personally

Thank you Jesus for this comment section.

Purely anecdotal.
yea well some people don't have a direct experience like that but are still in Christ.

You know when it's God, I promise. I have experiences, then it leads me right back to scripture to prove it.

Facts
Why is it that after watching this the first thing that comes to mind is…”beware of false prophets”
Todd apparently has never laughed in the Spirit, prophesied, or spoken in tongues etc. I’ve prayed that he would repent for mocking the Holy Spirit.
