Ladies and gentlemen, this is an incredibly neat car with a very passionate owner. So no crazy driving in this video. Now please help me find a modified one we can really stretch its legs. Hope you enjoy the video ❤️
Then the car should be parked, spark plugs taken out if the owner is scared to rev it up!! It can be a talking piece in a museum instead, if he does not want to let us see the car in it's full glory.

Amazing cars they are...I had one in south Africa that I baught back in 2004 with 55k kilometres for R90k. Moved to the UK and baught another two over time. That one is truly origanal and unmolested example. Sure there are quicker cars but the VR is a legend and allways will be.
Niyaaz, you made me nostalgic!! I remember my 1996 GTi Exec which I bought new and I used to be SO ENVIOUS of my buddy who had more braun and could study Medicine and finish his studies. He could afford a VR6. In dark green. We used to drive away from a golf game or a braai and people always went on and on about his beauty and mine was overlooked, even though they looked almost similar. NOW, to see an original and in a pristine condition.....PRICELESS!! And the sound...man oh man. 1996 was indeed a good year!
@@CarlosGomes-br3ur my 1996 GTi 2.0 was stolen 1997 at Cresta Centre and was found in 1998 with 20 others near Botswana border in Police roadblocks / stings.
This vid took me back a few years. A VR6 is an amazing car, yes not the fastest but always a pleasure to drive. One of the best cars I've owned so far. Would take another in a heart beat.
Wow, this video just brought back some proper nostalgia. Loved every minute of it. I know back in the 90's we always debated which one sounds better - the VR6 or the 325iS. I will probably still go with the iS sound but the VR6 comes in at a very, very close 2nd. This one is immaculate. The owner must be so proud of it and surely a lucky guy/gal. Top class Niyaaz.
@@jacquincedras 😁😁😁😁. I get u. As a VW fan, through and through, I just can't ignore the sound of a 325is. Will say though, I would buy a VR6 over a 325iS (non negotiable).
I have to disagree. Yes the M20 engine in the 325i and 320i sounds fantastic. And especially so up top. However, it can't compete with the rumble and burble that the VR6 makes in the lower rpm range. The VR6 does something very few 6 cylinders do. It sounds very different at lower revs than it does at higher revs. And equally nice in either range.✌
I had a dark green metallic late '98 model VR6 Golf. It was a demo model with 5000 km on the clock. New ones wasn't available anymore in '99 when i purchased it. The grand tourer of hot hatches👌

Why is it pinging, its not a usual heat related issue, MAF maybe dirty, going broken, oxygen sensor maybe clogged by now, 25-ish years old if still oem part, did owner try scanning it and do live data, stock exhaust could also be choking it, owner could try running bottle injector cleaner in a full tank and see afterwards, just my 5cent as an ex 97' vr6 golf owner, other than that, this is a very nice car, drivers rear panel to bumper gap seems out, Mk3 Addicts on Facebook can sort owner out with left rear skirt clip!
Brings back memories gooood memories of my uncle and his charcoal vr6 jetta with the bbs mags... The 1 thing that cannot be denied is the sound of this car is infectious
Love this. The thing is this, I was 18 when this 1998 model was released. It was something to aspire to. If you worked hard you could afford it. And it was absolutely fantastic. One of the best hot hatches ever made. Like you said. The way it makes you feel. The sound, that badge, vr6. In the 90s it was just magic. Vw has lost the plot since.
Growing up in South Africa, the VR6 was the ultimate V6, but cuk for snapped drive shafts for street drags, but that engine note was just perfection,... and even till this day, amazing. Great review bru, thoroughly enjoyed it.
Yup, I love this car. I once had a '94 VR6 Golf. It eventually made me reminisce about the VR6 leading to me purchasing a VW CC 3.6 VR6. Very rare in South Africa.
1 of my fav cars ever, we had 1 when i was a youngster, a see green colour 1, also executive, a tear was shed when it got sold! Nice video Niyaaz, when you coming to kilarney again for some regional racing!
Had a VR6 with an SAC 3.1 conversion, airbox and King Dragon racing filter. The sound that VR6 made was legend. I was stopped everywhere I went and asked what have I done to the car to get that sound.
I had one for 18 years. Got it when I was 16 and it got written off by my ex wife. 3.1l with Schrick cams, chipped. Most fun I had in a car, iconic sound but expensive to maintain. Vtec killer...best in its class x far when tuned properly.
Very nice review and video Niyaaz! Well done , love how well kept this example is 😍🙏🏻💪🏻 There used to be a modded black VR6 in Paarl, ran nitrous - think it came from Pniel actually and used to race here. Car was probably the only fast VR6 Paarl has seen in a long time , and it was proper quick. Not sure where it went , would’ve been cool to put you in contact.
Hi there.. I'm busy rebuilding the exact same car 12 valve AAA motor duel airbag... Busy to overhaul the complete motor and top it of with my own wide body kit.. Maybe in view months you can view the car
Love this car, thank you for the video. I had one of these in high school and enjoyed it very much. You are correct that sound, especially with a cold air intake. I miss mine. What a beautiful example!
definitely one of the best sounding 6 cylinder engines around......... other contenders are BMW 325is and Alfa Romeo V6 "Busso' engines found in the 147/156 GTA, the Essex 3.0 litre found in old Ford Cortina XR6 and 3.0s models......... arrange some old school 6 cylinder cars for a vlog.........that would be lekker!
All rise: 📢THE LIVING LEGEND IS HERE.... I think, though, the 325is pips the Vorooza (VR6) to the line.... Respect to the owner for keeping the legend immaculate. 👌 Thank u for the brilliant video.
I owned a VR6 Golf before a BMW 330. After 20 years, I still have the 330, but miss the VR6. It was easier to drive with its mechanical throttle, compared to the BMW's continuously adapting "fly by wire"; and more fun, despite being slower. Also, the sound was more pleasing than the inline 6. Yes, the BMW uses less fuel, but I no loner drive a lot.
The sound of the VR6 is one of the best sounds you can find...even though my favorite one is a jetta VR6... but still best car VW ever built...I get the GTi and R...but talking originality, I'd still go for the VR6...even though the petrol consumption is not friendly...lol...
Trying to keep my 98 golf vr6 on the road, but the poor old girl is getting a bit long in the tooth now, engine has a slight misfire, rust taking hold, and the dreaded heater core has just let go, but still trying to keep it going.
Growing up, i had worked on convincing my dad to get a Jetta VR6. And then the first Audi A4 launched and the dude ordered the 2.8 Quattro after seeing the TV ad. ONCE. And then when it was time to replace it, we test drove the Jag X-Type 3.0L with black exterior and red leather. But somehow we ended up with a Dolphin Grey 2005 Audi A4 1.8T, grey leather and plastic wood on the interior. And cos he didn't want to wait another few weeks, its the 120kw version with black bumpers rather than 140KW version of the 1.8T that came with fully colour coded exterior and S-Line exterior package.😑
Kind funny, I have a white 5 door VR6 too, but mine has some differences to the one shown in the video. Most of them are because mine is a German version
I love the vr6 golf 3 car.. I appreciate the video man.. Seems like it had a sunroof u didnt show it, u should have talked about the vr6 engine power output. They also come wth bbs rims.. Is that the obd2
Just some feedback Niyaaz: It would be more informative to have pictures of what you're explaining about the engine pop up e.g. where you speak about the V layout have a picture pop up of what it looks like.
Bro I've watched your videos just a heads up this is not a V6 it's an inline 6 the V for V6 means that the engine is in a V shape with two heads and blocks this is an inline 6 not V
