    The long line of Dev ancestors throughout the ages:
    Paleolithic Dev: Who put seed in ground? Seed food! That food waste!
    Neolithic Dev: Bad idea bring wolf inside. Will eat us.
    Copper Age: Putting yeast in with the grains? Will just make grains moldy.
    Bronze Age Dev: We should be nice and let these Sea People into our towns.
    Classical Dev: You know we should give these barbarians a pathway to citizenship. Like maybe by serving in the army.
    Early Medieval Dev: What if we make a deal with the Nords to pay them so they'll leave us alone.
    Late Medieval Dev: This printing press sounds like a bad investment. Not many people can read you know.
    Renaissance Dev: Shut up Galileo, just look at the sky and you can clearly see that the sun moves around the earth.
    Victorian Dev: What you mean I'm not getting sick from the miasma but from germs I can't see? EVIDENCE PLEASE!!!!
    Industrial Dev: You know Uranium makes things glow in the dark! We should make dinnerware out of it.
    20th Century Dev: People can't fly, everyone knows this.

      @@ShortFatOtaku Most of these were not criticism of you needing evidence.
      Like maybe 1 or 2 of them. Most were about your ideological stances on things. Several were about your aversion to change which makes you cling to liberalism like a safety blanket. One of them was about you enjoying how something looks and not even bothering to ask the question if it was a good thing to do.
      It was largely a joke. But also talking about evidence.
      You seem to demand beyond a reasonable doubt level of evidence on any subject. Meanwhile most people function on reasonable suspicion level of evidence.

    The way people talk about "the government is inherently coercive", you look into it, and either they hold the government as something special, or that every interaction is coercive, and even just a larger guy asking you to move over is an implicit threat to move you if you refuse.
    That said, you do have a ridiculously optimistic view of things sometimes with systems and societies. Like, the equivalent of seeing 5 cockroaches and saying "It's not an infestation, there were only five and we got them all. Show me proof that there are more, then I'll start spraying or putting down traps or whatever", and in general seem to be bias towards whatever large institutions or the popular majority seem to think/want.

    • @gavinriley5232
      @gavinriley5232 4 дня назад

      @@dragonturtle2703
      I don’t think it is an either/or scenario.
      I believe the government is inherently coercive. If the give me a speeding ticket, and I refuse to pay, they will revoke my license, and issue a bench warrant for my arrest. Meaning men with guns drag me out of my home.
      But if the large guy asks me to move over and I say “No”. Is he going to resort to violence to get this seat? Almost definitely not and we all know it. So this interaction isn’t coercive because there was no threat.

    • @NoPantsBaby
      @NoPantsBaby 4 дня назад

      I can tell the bigger guy no. I can demand he ask politely. He can decide it's not worth the hassle. Nothing says I have to move. And if the bigger guy assaults me I can fight back. I might still lose and we default to might is right. But nothing makes the interaction inherently coercive because two individual entities are interacting.
      With government, EVERY DEMAND has a punishment if not met. I cannot say no without exposing myself to consequences. I can't simply not pay property taxes despite disagreeing with the assessment. I can't simply not get my license renewed because if I don't it lapses and I can't drive anymore.
      If I do not comply I will be punished. And the punishment is ALWAYS violence. There is no other solution but violence the state can employ. The state also doesn't back down, it doesn't lose. It applies violence until compliance is achieved.
      Therefore all governments are inherently coercive. Because they set rules that you cannot opt out of enforced with limitless violence.

    • @ShortFatOtaku
      @ShortFatOtaku  4 дня назад +5

      there are also governments who make requests and when told no, decide it's not worth the hassle. happens all the time.
      but yes, all interactions with the government has a threat underlying it at the bottom somewhere. the communist's logic also works the same way, all interactions with your boss has the threat of losing your job underlying it at the bottom somewhere. but that doesn't make either of them illegitimate.

    Yes Dev, it’s totally legit, that a guy is on the board of a Ukrainian gas company, when he has NO educational background , or experience in that field, does NOT speak the local language, and it just so happens that his father is the Vice President of the United States, and it just so happens that his father also is responsible for foreign policy in that region, AND is on video talking about how he would have billions in aid money withheld if a certain prosecutor wasn’t removed, and replaced with someone “solid”. 🙄 Oh, and is paid a convenient ONE MILLION DOLLARS A YEAR, which incidentally went bye bye when Biden was out of office.

      he was on the board of directors of multiple other companies before burisma, including other oil & gas companies
      >just so happens that his father is the Vice President of the United States
      politicians do send their children to good schools and they tend to be accomplished in other fields due to this, yes
      >on video talking about how he would have billions in aid money withheld if a certain prosecutor wasn’t removed, and replaced with someone “solid”
      yes, because a condition of america sending aid to ukraine was that they had to clean up corruption, and the certain prosecutor had a long history of corruption.
      >is paid a convenient ONE MILLION DOLLARS A YEAR, which incidentally went bye bye when Biden was out of office.
      yes, people who sit on boards get paid a lot, and hunter biden remained on the board of burisma until 2019, long after his dad was out of office
      see how, once you strip away the conspiratorial, "just asking questions" tone of the way you worded all of this, things can be simply, easily explained as normal behaviour? hunter biden is a businessman, who did businessman-like things. that includes using drugs and being a degen, frankly.

      1) not applicable. Degrees in gender studies don't apply either.
      2) having a position on a board does not translate into actual qualification. You are engaging in a reductive credentialism
      3) being elite is not an argument.
      4) corruption was never cleaned up.
      5) influence did not disappear and not being paid while he is out isn't an argument against the behavior
      No, I don't see.

    You are wrong on the question of, if doing something benefits you, should you not do it? Why shouldn't you not have fired that prosecutor even if the prosecutor was corrupt? The fact that His son was involved. He should have refused himself.
    It is a conflict of interest at a bare minimum and likely corruption on Biden's part.

    • @NoPantsBaby
      @NoPantsBaby 4 дня назад +1

      Biden didn't have to PERSONALLY fly to Ukraine and PERSONALLY talk to the President of Ukraine.
      Biden could have requested the local Diplomat handle the matter. Or if he wanted it to be entirely above board he should have called in the Department of State, told them his concerns and have the IG make a report and THEN he could have a DOS official go and meet with the President of Ukraine.
      But Biden didn't do that?
      Why? Because despite what Dev is trying to gaslight you into:
      There was an active investigation into Burisma. It was moving VERY slowly because of obstruction. Shokin was very anti-EU. Which is why the EU called him corrupt. Notice Shokin NEVER got a conviction for any corruption. Notice how his replacement didn't reopen Burisma.... in fact when Shokin was GONE suddenly Burisma's founder comes back to Ukraine after hiding out in Russia!
      Hunter Biden: Doesn't speak Russian or Ukrainian. He has no clue on international business law. He has no specialty in European law. He's an American lawyer and not a businessman. Payments made to him were laundered through his law firm.
      So what the fuck is he actually offering to Burisma? Access to Joe Biden.

    Dev, respectfully, nobody views you as an arbitor of justice. Nobody sees you as a judge or jury and nobody thinks they owe you evidence for their intuitions about corruption.
    They HAVE come to view you as a defense attorney for anything that maintains liberal hegemony.
    What they percieve happening i can decribe by analogy. Imagine a large formal dinning enagement. One person stands up in the table, drops their pants, hangs their backend over your plate then turns around and says "You can't PROVE im going to crap on your plate."
    Yes, of course they are incredulous. With lack of redress towards grievances in a functional democracy and an erosion of trust in institutional powers they will of course become antagonistic towards mere content creators that dont seem to speak towards that redress and lack of trust.
    I have seen nothing but brow beating and shouting down of rightwing concerns from the liberal centrists ever since Jan 6th. The epistemological schism will continue until this is addressed. If not democracy will continue to fail its people and liberals will continue to drive those who experience a lack of redress further into extemist positions, both left and right.
    Extremism is not a response because people "are dumb" or "tards." Its always a response to a lack of redress in the system itself.
    Anyways, i hope your channel stays active and healthy.
