Thank you, Brian, for your sermon 🙏 yesterday. I can say "Amen"to every word you said. Twenty years ago I began a period of 5 years of treatment for anxiety and depression, being hospitalised, and even undergoing shock treatment. It was a confusing and painful desert experience. But, Praise God, I now know that He brought me through that valley, that I may help others. Since then, I have been through terrifically difficulties, including divorce, financial difficulties and losing a few non Christian friends along the way. But I thought that you might like to know that my life is now more joyful, loving, purposeful and happiness than I have ever known, in my 78 years. I so enjoy listening into your services, and find such fine teaching and preaching. God bless you all, my Brother. I am living in Worcester, UK, and always join you when in Buderim. God willing, I will be there again this year 🙏
Great wisdom, as always, Rev Brian - Thank-you. To paraphrase the c25:22 min mark 'when our passion for continuously pursuing nicer, better material things is greater than our compassion for the suffering and dreadful disparities in this world... ' we are in trouble. It's so true because we are not being obedient to God's teachings, and are therefore not helping God's Kingdom to form here "on Earth as it is in heaven..." In fact it's an impediment. We have to remain conscious to what he calls us to do - generally and particularly - we need to ever reflect and adjust our priorities as required. Increasing our ability for this is wisdom, and reflects our level of maturity as a Christian. That's my considered conclusion, observation and experience.
