Good morning Mike. Regarding the protest from pocillos to old town. I do hope there is no problems and it all goes smoothly. But I'm not so sure. Considering the amount of tourists on PDC strip half term week and that fact that they are marching along the entirety of a strip which 100% relies on tourist income there could be minor flash points from tourists and locals who rely on it alike. Let's hope not, but as someone who has been visiting the island since the mid 1980s I do feel a little offended by the issue but also understand the picture as a. whole. Thankfully it will be all back to normal for November.
    Regards Paul

The simplest way to reduce the tourist numbers here is to reduce the amount of accommodation available.

Over tourism and the V.V are clearly linked. Again we say, this is directly due to corrupt politicians in government. Taking the license fee for the V.V and simply ignoring the bigger issues this creates. And the only offering from the local government was to announce the building of a few residential homes in the south of the island.
The only real answer to this issue is to vastly reduce the V.V Licence, vastly reduce the holiday home rentals, it’s getting ridiculous…

I agree with the first part, but there isn’t a fee for the VV, so you’re wrong when you say "corrupt politicians in government. Taking the license fee...”
The fact that there is no fee currently, and very little in the way of regulation, is a big part of the problem, and hopefully the new legislation working it's way through the Canarian Parliament, will address those issues.

@@LanzaroteInformation it’s a very well documented fact that the very vast majority of Spanish government officials are in one way or another corrupt….again point in fact the planning and acceptance of the housing in the south…. Money changed hands

@@LanzaroteInformation having just looked into the V.V application, there is a cost involved, applying for a number of documents also the Municipal certificate €35 plus the Nota simple document €10

@@LanzaroteInformation sorry Mike, your completely wrong to say there’s no fee. There are a number of fees when applying for a V.V some of which I have mentioned.
Spanish government officials have and will always be corrupt. MY Point is… remove / reduce the V.V will reduce tourism. It’s counter productive to increase it unless you’re on the receiving end of the fees involved..

Why isn’t Lanzarote 100% getting their electricity from geothermal? Its a no brainer. Green, free, 100% supply.
