When a leader makes a clear mistake that is recognized by both his own people and the international community, the best course of action is to step down as a form of moral responsibility. This shows humility and commitment to correct the situation without damaging institutions or prolonging the crisis.
If a leader is "stubborn" by trying to manipulate the law or use the mechanisms of power to maintain his position, it will only worsen the country's image in the eyes of the world. For the South Korean nation, which has long been known as a country with a well-established democratic system, such actions could set a bad precedent that weakens the country's institutions. Meanwhile, at the global level, other countries may lose confidence in establishing equal and mutually beneficial relations with South Korea.
Stepping down in this situation is not only a matter of political ethics, but also for the sake of maintaining the country's stability and international reputation. Leaders who fail to understand this will often worsen the crisis, both domestically and globally. In an increasingly connected world, domestic mistakes of leaders are no longer just domestic affairs, but also become a global concern.
