      i've never played Mittens
but it is easy to see each
      time you make a move
      Mittens calculate variations
      leading to the end game
where it wins. If that is true,
      then you must adopt the
      Data Maneuver; you win
      without winning.
      In other words...play each move
for a draw and nothing else...
      This was the same strategy
Data used in Strategema against Kolrami
      in the episode
"Star Trek: The Next Generation" Peak Performance (TV Episode 1989)

I mean, it's called playing chess. If your decision making isn't backed by concrete variations, you're not playing chess. It's like guessing the answers of a test based on feelings instead of working them out. I would be surprised if you actually could become stronger than 1500 without thinking ahead, anticipating the opponent's move. Always ask yourself "what does he want"
GM Vladimir Kramnik even suggests asking what the opponent will do BEFORE thinking about one's own move (in his Chessable course "Thinking in Chess").

Wow randomly stumbled across this was on my suggestions first video I’ve seen of yours. You might have the coolest laid back GM mother I have ever come across on RUclips and her thought process and insight is top notch. Subbed for sure look forward to watching more awesome chess content here! I feel like I unearthed a gem! Also I’m sure your a strong chess player too judging by the fact you did suggest F4 to your mom at the critical moment of this game! Fantastic play well done 👍

"MOM, IT'S FALLING APART !!!", is the most child like conversation in this video, but it's in chess, not in house furniture

Your mom can see positions like Hikaru. It’s really amazing. No wonder you are such a good chess player. It’s in your blood ❤

Lolol, this was great. Mom not really knowing who they were playing. Basically stockfish. Did so well though anyway.

Psycho Stockfish, Stockfish always takes the best odds, Mittens thinks I will win anyway so lets to this crazy move.
