Squier VM Bass VI with Kalium .106 Strings
Boss CS3 Compressor
Tech21 VT Bass Deluxe
Gallien Krueger 800RB
Ampeg 810 Cab
I can play Beatles and Motorhead with this setup without changing any gear!
But the tone was spot on...its the thin ness of the strings that gave it away...not much you can do...but you nailed the tone of hey bulldog
This is a bass, but it’s a weird one. This one’s a Squier but the Beatles used a Fender Bass VI in ‘68 or something. usually it was John or George using it while Paul was on piano; the six strings probably felt more comfortable for them since they weren’t total bass players. Some songs they use it on off the top of my head are Helter Skelter, Back in the USSR, and Maxwell’s Silver Hammer.
@bigdeathpaws4964 oh so that's what a bass vi is....ive always wondered what those were. That's awesome. I'm a huge Beatles fan. Since I was a kid...huge lol. I love all their stuff .
My strings are not thin though, my low e is a 106.
It is a short scale, like a mustang bass or a Hofner
To be honest , i clicked on this cause i thought it was a bass video. And didnt notice right away, and i thought why does that bass sound like a guitar.. so the tone was convincing, but its still thin like a guitar....but i understand your purpose for it, and im sure itll do just fine...im just saying, as a bass player it was kinda a blind test because i was just listening when clicked. And thats what made me look, cause im a beatles fan ans i heard hey bulldog. And i thought that sounds like a guitar.
I'm playing a bass VI. It's a 30-in scale, six string bass
The Beatles actually used one on the White album thru Abbey road.
If you watch the video for hey Jude, George is playing one, and John is playing it on let it be and the long and winding road
