  • I was replacing some water filters and needed a tool. So I got a Klein Strap-It Strap Wrench. USA Made tool. Needs factory finish work, but performance is solid. Seems there is a Grip-it branded one and a Klein Grip-it version. Same tool,. Different name on ot.

I don't have one of these and sometimes need one. Good to know that it's easily available.

My issue with the strap wrenches in general is how they crush. I’ve completely crushed in the side of oil filters while taking them off, Which would be fine if it was actually able to get the filters off, but it didn’t in most cases.

But I have been using the Snap On strap wrench for years. It never fails.

I found a Blue Point one online, but have not seen a Snap On branded one. The BP had a 4" max which I thought might be too small.

It worked for the job in front of me. What would you recommend? Obviously I don’t have a drawer full of different strap wrenches.
