Recently it would seem there is nothing a gamer loves OR hates more than skins in their favorite video game. Despite the fact that these "items" are technically insignificant to the game play, some people are very passionate about skins. From their aesthetics, their prices, particles, everything.
And sometimes, players are heavily disappointment by some skin releases for reasons that aren't so simple. Today we take a look at 5 of those times!

Yeah, I remember the Miss Fortune skin. I thought it was a very cool skin and definitely better than a regular skin, maybe 15-20$. I think the price on the skin was what I heard the most about. "That new MF skin looks really awesome, I'm not paying 30$ for it though.", was what I generally heard.
I apparently own this skin, along with God-King Garen, and I don't remember paying for them...

Yea, I had no idea people were that upset by Gun Goddess MF. I thought it was well made. Each form had unique particle effects, and the skin featured a complete voice line and animation overhaul. It also had unique music playing at the start of the game, and on recall. And on her dance. It was clear to me that a lot of effort and quality went into the skin, and it was priced accordingly.

To be fair, the skin is quite... lazy in a sense, it does not look good for the RP, I guess. At least the effects don't look good.
@@123youbia the only thing that bothers me is the fact that instead of fixing the skin (I mean, updating each form so that you could tell differences other than colors) they decided that the right thing to do was reduce it's price a little.

@@123youbia That's kinda fucked. It's not "just the color of the skin" It's particle effects change as well. The only thing that doesn't change (to my knowledge) is voice lines. and the particle effects do in fact look good.
The Irelia situation, its sad when people breakdown because of a butt. The size of humanity came down to a butt-size.
That was kinda her identity so yeah. Old irelia was a potato and frost blade was the only good looking on the splash and the best thing on there was her ass. So nerfing it is like basically killing the character lmao, once she got reworked it was just a meme

I mean, I remember the controversy with Gun Goddess MF. Honestly, the only reason people complained about it was because the Lux skin that came before it was just.... too overwhelmingly good. It had WAY more forms and each form felt more unique than her 4 forms. Each form had different particles, same as MF's. AND each of Lux's forms had a slightly different recall. All of MF's forms have the same exact recall, although I will grant that they each have different ult animations. But you can easily see the outrage here. Lux had 10 very different forms, very distinct with slightly different recalls, different particles and different voice lines. MF got 4 forms that look very similar, had the same recall (but different ult animations) and a few (but significantly less) unique voice lines for each form and different particles. Lux's skin was just so incredibly over the top that it should have cost more than other ultimate skins, if we're honest. BUT HAVING SAID THAT, as an MF main, I love the skin and use it despite what people say about it. I love it. But it's not the only skin I use. I enjoy using a lot of her skins. I feel like most Lux players only use elementalist - which is easy to do since it's basically 10 skins in one...
Anyway, I'm surprised you didn't mention the huge controversy with Seraphine's release skin being an ultimate and how people felt that she, as a champion, was only made to sell that skin and her base character feels very out of place and it was obvious they made "KDA Seraphine" before "Runeterra Seraphine". And personally, I just feel like the skin does not fulfill a different fantasy from the base skin. They should have made her runeterra story and identity way different since the ultimate skin would give them complete freedom to make her something else.... but ok, Riot.
Nah, it's bad even compared to Spirit Guard Udyr and DJ Sona.

Seraphine and her ultimate I remember being a bit controversial too. Not only for lore or to sell K/DA stuff but that you basically just unlocked 3 skins rather than having one skin with lots of craziness to it

The asian market is all over these champs. The last champs are all female booby waifu girls. Thats what the chinese market for example prefers. All champions which got released in the past months are all human like. Except voilbear but that makes sense obvi. They only care about the asian market because they are way more willing to pay for skins.
Her KDA counterpart is literally the first Seraphine before Runeterra they can't do anything about people hating her they planned the skin earlier then the champion

Also, its not because humans are easier to design, its just that human-like characters are played a lot more than monster-like characters, and that means more money for less work (since at the end of the day a human character is, like you said, easier to produce) but the main reason is popularity. I'm sure you know the whole "3 skarner mains" meme

There are still custom skins out there. They swap the file after the launcher started/game started.

The one with the ex employee’s GF and seraphine is so bullshit. A rioter already explained how skin development does not work that way and how the ex employee would not have had so much influence over skin creation, and how the skin was actually inspired by another rioter’s wife, who posted about it before that pink haired girl claimed likeness to seraphine. Also, I’m pretty sure the timeline doesn’t work either since skin creation takes a long time, including making seraphin’s design and songs, which would’ve taken longer than the amount of time the rioter and that girl dated and broke up.

But i think spirit guard udyr is the worst one because the only thing different was the fact that its a animation rework and the stance change only comes when the stance has 4 ranks

As a long time player, The Og community had a lot of running inside jokes among other things. Frostbutt Irelia was very well known, and the "better nerf Irelia" meme helped keep the champion relevant and helped keep it going. The original community was truly the definition of maturity... :)

They should bring back custom skins, but you can only play the custom skin if you buy a specific skin first. Hence is you wanted to play Irelia as Frozone, you had to get frost queen Irealia.

I remember the GGMF backlash. And, while I agree with you on it being overblown, you're missing the context to it.
It had more to do with Elemental Lux being the one that came before, and just how much MORE it was than GGMF. GGMF didn't bring anything new, with it's big thing being shifting forms but Elemental Lux already did that, did it better, had way more forms, each one with their own voices and unique designs, all of which outshone GGMF's comparatively lackluster 4 forms. Another contention was that they didn't get the original VA for MF to do the voiceover for the skin, either.
So, yeah, I kind of understand the disappointment, but it definitely went way too far and was definitely just a case of the vocal minority.

I really like the GunGoddess Miss Fortune Skin. Its my favourit skin of her and I actually pick it almost every time, even more than the Prestige Edition of Bewitching Miss Fortune.

I had time for barely one game and when I got home I jumped on pc, turned on LoL, saw that there was no URF and I got very dissapointed because I started playing in autumn of 2015 and never played URF before and I also knew that URF usually came around april fools.
