      Just remember to take care for our hair! I wish I came to RUclips for advice when I first started my journey! I've been natural for 6 years, (since 2008) and My hair is only arm pit length. It took 2 years to get to shoulder length and I thought it stopped growing but in reality it was just breaking off just as much.
      Last year, I revised my hair routine and grew to armpit length. I know I'm a few years behind, but I will get to Mid back length eventually!! I'm just thankful It didn't take me 10 years to learn how to take care of my hair. lol

    Your diet also plays a large role in the growth of your hair. I cut out the little fast food I ate, and Within 3 months my hair managed to grow almost four inches. Correlation doesn't equal causation, but since I've implemented minor changes, both my hair and nails grow ridiculously fast. I've always had a healthy diet, but of course I had my cheat days. Once the cheat days were gone, boom...my hair flourished. I have had zero heat on my natural hair, but looking from what's grown over the last few months, there is a big noticeable difference in the recent growth, compared to my earlier growth. Shiner, softer, etc. My 4 year natural anniversary will be on August 15th!

      Thank you for posting... looking at your videos gives me so much inspiration for my own natural hair journey. I am 1yr and 1month natural and I'm seeing the results of a good healthy hair routine and patience take form. My hair was confused for a bit there because I was trying so many different products and not really giving one hair line the time it needed to see if it worked best for my hair. I now work with one line at a time and give it a few weeks and see if my hair agrees with it. I'll be getting my hair straighten for the first time in months, and I am excited to see the length of my hair when its straighten in comparison to my natural curls. Pardon the long monologue... btw your hair is beautiful!

      Everyone's hair grows at a completely different pace. Don't worry about how fast/slow its growing. The main thing to focus on is the HEALTH of it! 😊 As long as you're moisturizing like Angie^ mentioned, staying away from direct heat, and being gentle with your hair, with patience, you'll see growth AND health!! ☺️

    I love this whole natural hair journey. For so many years most African women didn't think they could have hair shoulder length or waist length because we didn't know a thing about our hair. And to see so many woman on RUclips showing that it can be done is great. I don't need wigs or weave to have long hair. God gave us just what we needed. Thanks for the video.

  • @Jewellianna
    @Jewellianna  11 лет назад

    It will! Especially if you've been doing protective styling! Just make sure to stay away from heat if you want it to continuously grow healthily. As your hair becomes older and longer, using heat causes much more damage on those old ends as opposed to the new healthy hair when your hair was shorter. Congrats on your decision to go natural!

  • @Boxxxxxxxxx

    • @TiffanyChantee
      @TiffanyChantee 7 лет назад

      I Bethany I I guess everybody goes through that because they feel since everyone else is doing it to get their hair straight they have to do it to. In 2002 I realized the relaxers didn't make a difference in my hair when straightening it but that in its natural state my curly hair was instead wavy so I stopped and now it's 2017 and I'm transitioning from heat damaged hair back to its curly state lol

I will admit in high school I flat ironed a lot so I can understand no growth then, but since entering college I've done nothing but take care of my hair. Idk why it won't grow longer and I know it can.....trying some new products now from her videos and I did a little mini chop. My hair feels and look healthier....just hope it grows in the next couple years X)

      I'm a lazy hair kind of gal, and I'll tell you one thing. Heat was what did my hair in. Every time. I transitioned from Nov 2016 until Aug 2017, and have been natural a little over a year. I have an 18 month old daughter, so my hair had its own setbacks after giving birth, but since having her, my hair is almost half way to bra strap. My hair has never been that long that I can remember seeing. I'm fully natural, this week makes one month of no heat, I shampoo and deep condition weekly, protein treatments once a month, I use rice water rinses and daily with my leave in conditioner in a spray bottle, I oil my scalp every other day and make sure to constantly spray my hair while it's in a protective style. No combs, or brushes, only finger detangling, and I try to make sure my hair is never dry. It has been a long road, but it's definitely helped my hair tremendously. I do have a short part in the middle back and on the top front do to how bad the shedding was. But the regrowth is very thick and my hair has been growing at a rate of 1/2 an inch per month. I also hit the gym or find other ways to de-stress because I've seen first hand how bad that impedes growth. I hope this helps!

    I start my natural hair adventure since february 2018 when i big chop. My last relaxer was on november 2016. I still have heat damaged hair in my front, i can't trim them off all. But i'm struggling everyday with short hair, i never had short hair in my life. So your video really helps me to cultivate patience. To transition i had to flat iron them every month but i don't do that anymore since february. I'm really confident that they will grow long and healthy like yours. Thanks a lot Jewejewebee !!!

    I'm 13 and trying out this natural thing but I'm kinda fuzzy on the facts. My hair is at the top of my shoulders and I wish my hair could grow as long as yours. My hair isn't curly and wish I had some. My hair is like 4b/4c. Does hair type effect how fast it grows😕 I want to do a twist out but I probably can't pull it off

      no hairtype does not decide on how fast your hair grows. it is genetics and how you care for your hair. Like I know some girls that have loosely curled hair that have been natural or 3 years and their hair grows slowly and just hitting shoulder length. While I know naturals with kinky hair that have been natural for a year and half and their hair is at APL already. look up youtubers with similar hair to yours. I would suggest Naptural85, mahoganyknots, Alicia James, etc. And type 4's actually hold twist longer and the style last longer on them so your hair type actually pulls them off very wel. As for people like me with type 3 natural hair I have to do flat twists outs in order for my hair to cooperate. but you can do regular twists and it works out for you. just try not to overmanipulate your hair (i.e. flatironing, blow dying too much, etc) and protective style for length retention. Remember to moisturize on the outised and inside(drink water).

    "Soul Scissors", I want to ask my mom about that! lol But yes! I believe the only person that knows your hair best is you! I've had people tell me that I needed a little relaxer in order for my hair to grow, that I don't need conditioner in my hair when I comb it, that heat training is healthy for hair. So many things that I KNOW not to be true for MY hair! You always have time to "save" your hair. lol My mom went natural at 41 and has the most beautiful and healthy curls I've EVER seen!!

    How the hell did u have a relaxer if ur hair was curly

    • @ChandraLeigh
      @ChandraLeigh 10 лет назад +6

      an amazing thing happens when you WET relaxed hair, it gets wavy or in some instances, curly. that's why they tell you not to wet your hair when you get it relaxed.

      Ebony Durr sorry must've been doing two things at once.
      My question was, why don't the transitioning count?
      I mean, that's the beginning of her natural hair journey, plus, she didn't cut off that new growth of hair.

    • @miabryan7986
      @miabryan7986 8 лет назад +4

      +Yv A because while she was transitioning she's not technically natural she was in a phase where she was partially natural and partly relaxed and she still had to cut off more

    I didn't read all of the posts so I may have missed if someone already asked this question, but are you fully black? Your hair grew as if you have something else going on lol. It is beautiful and I hope I can have the same results in a couple years. I'm currently 2 years natural and my hair reaches about 4 inches from my nips ( sorry to be so blunt). I still have to big chop though, so about 2 inches of that have yet to come off. Any how, are you fully black honestly?

    You make me proud to be Black (I'm totally assuming you are of African descent). And not just because you have beautiful hair; moreso because you accept, love and have confidence in your own beauty. I really wish we all follow your lead. Black women are so so beautiful. The most beautiful and unique eye shapes, naturally curly lashes, amazing hair and the ability to do the most intricate and beautiful styles. Not to mention the amazing diversity in skin color. I hope and pray that we all begin to see and love the innate and natural beauty of Black women and Black people.

But at the time I was in 10th grade with no job and couldn't afford them. So I just cried for a few days. lol But just know that even though right now it seems stressful because it's completely new, that'll you'll be so thankful for yourself later, for the decision that you made now. It'll all pay off!! :)

    • @Jewellianna
      @Jewellianna  10 лет назад +2

      john smith Danielle Monaá I consider the start of me being natural as when I big chopped; this is seen from the way that I dated the pictures (my big chop was in 2009/ "4 Years"). I think that many others consider it this way also, seeing as the way people who are transitioning and still have relaxed ends get attacked when they say that they are natural. That's just the way that I do it though, you guys can definitely do it as when you last relaxed, for your own hair journey!!! :)

    • @12danih96
      @12danih96 10 лет назад +2

      JeweJewe Bee didn't mean for you to feel attacked, but I get what you are saying about people not considering you natural until all the relaxed ends are gone.

    @jewejewebee I'm struggling with hair damage bc I straighten my hair a lot , do you are anyone have advice how to grow it out at your length , because my hair is very short and I really want to try and grow it long ? Do you think it's possible ?

    • @morganbradley2376
      @morganbradley2376 8 лет назад +5

      Yes it's possible you just need to first ; drop the heat tools second; be committed to doing this and third; find hear free hairstyles such as braid outs and twist outs ( can be found on RUclips) to help protect your hair while jt grow. Also protective styling would help to and always moisture your hair and try to deep condition and use sulfate free shampoo Ik you didn't ask for all this and I hope I could help ( I had relaxed hair )

    so i guess 4C is 'bad hair' then? beauty comes in different forms brethren, the mentality of our hair being 'bad hair' is something the white men used to get black people to walk with their chins down. our ancestors went through a lot of physical and mental bullying. we are physically free today but we have to set our minds free. why should our hair be deemed bad, our dark skin deemed not pretty, our culture(music, dance, dressing, behavior etc) deemed odd. cant things just be unique, not wrong?

    This video is very inspiring! I stopped getting relaxers all together in 2002 because in between relaxers(one every 3 to 6 years) it didn't look any different when straightened without it other than when it was wet it was wavy instead of curly! Now it's March 11, 2017 I stopped using heat(flat irons and blow dryers) completely in February 3, 2017 & began to deep condition my hair with regular and protein(each once a week) & just in the health and curl pattern in my hair I have seen a drastic change. I also cowash..., and use the LOC method & trim which helps tremendously thanks to your videos!!! I'm a new subscriber!! Thank you!!

    This video should be shown to every 11-12 year old girl and their mother. It’s so easy to miss the gradual damage that happens to teens’ natural hair when they first start caring for their own hair. But this video clearly illustrates what kind of damage can happen when teens experiment without proper care/knowledge of what their hair needs.
