I understand why turn-based & RTS games make up the majority of Warhammer titles, but nothing really encapsulates the feeling of battle like an action game. This captures the atmosphere far greater than anything mimicking the tabletop.
Yeah it’s hard to get immersed in the world of an isometric strategy game compared to a narrative driven action game where the world & story is told through the eyes of a specific (set of) character(s).
Mostly the fact that Warhammer is a tabletop game that defined the genre "war gaming". And the big appeal of Warhammer has always been visual spectacle of an OCEAN of warriors charging into each other.
I remember Space Marine 1 having some MEATY impact feedback when you hit enemies so I hope they manage to fit the same OOMPH when you land some big hits.
As much as I will truly miss Mark Strong's perfect stoic voice acting of Titus in the first game, I have to admit Clive Standen has made my hairs stand on edge. Titus has gone from a stoic captain, to a lieutenant with the true fury of the God-Emperor in his Twin Hearts

Good eye, I saw that too. If you've ever been around a full-auto doing its thing,,,,,,,, your brain's primitive part basically tells you NOT to do what that SM did.
The sound engineering of Space Marine 1 was one of the factors that made it so great. I hope the "tink tink tink" they're using for the bolter isn't final, otherwise the game might lose a lot of it's original character. In another note, I kinda like the turn from hugely stoic to cold fury Titus so far. The VA might impress, still.
I think it's that but also the overall mix, possibly for this trailer, it pretty bad - the voices are way too loud and the gunfire is too faint - we'll see I guess.
I'm really looking forward to this! I hope the Power Sword is available during story mode, and maybe Lightning Claws so I can go Wolverine on my enemies! Perhaps even dual Power Fists!

Yeah... This doesn't sound like Titus, but I can hear it in there, in parts, especially the first line of the trailer. As much as I like the VA (the dude I know as from Rollo from vikings), it's a fundamentally different voice. Strong's Titus was well-spoken, a bit softer and considered. This just sounds gruff. They probably should've just continued with a new character Edit: After rewatching a lot and rethinking, I take the new character part back. It's always tough to take on the voice work of an established character. I should reserve judgement. I just hope this can be a bit constructive
Okay. All I'm seeing is a laggy mess, which is unable to show more than 5s of uncut gameplay after a year of the same. Getting nowhere near the oomph from the weapons the first game had and the fluentness of the combat also seems to be gone. Oh, and then there's the castrated-sounding Titus to go with it. What gives?
I was so hyped until I saw the Space Marine run in front of the Heavy Bolter and the Video got Dark. Dude got blown away because he ran in crossfire ... Poor Brother. May he rest in piece(s).
I really like that they added a repeater to the radio (that chirping sound when someone transmits). Rather than being on short range comms because there’s only three of them like in 1, they’re transmitting to a repeater on their ship because the whole company is there. Nice detail

I'm so hyped. It's so refreshing to know SM2 isn't abandoning, imo, what made SM1 great: The excessively massive and epic backgrounds. With modern age tech this might end up being on of my favorite games of all time
The only thing we still have to go on is 2023 it will be released sometime this year, I have a feeling there's no release date yet because it might be delayed longer.

Looks great and very happy to finally see a sequel. But ain't going to lie, fighting bugs will never be as fun as fighting orks in Warhammer. The orks just have so much more character. Hearing them going from bombastic boasting and bragging to screaming outrage and panic as you blasted and tore through them in the first game was eternally fun and satisfying.
I love this! But goodness, can you imagine the blood angels fighting tyranids on baal itself and you're one of the few flesh tearers left with Seth? Or a game on the Diamor system with Lemartes and Astorath? Need games with every legion would be badass
Graphically it looks great but I am hoping the sound design and hit feedback gets some polish. It's missing the heavy impacts and "oumph" the first game had. Excited to see more of this!

@@gonzokules7794 Depends on the price. SP-only or MP-only should never cost more than 30€ in my opinion (half of AAA price since its only delivering "half of a full game" unless its a very long RPG) If they go over 30€, there should be some coop/horde replayability

This looks really great. I had my doubts about Clive Standen being able to do Titus' voiceover as he had some pretty big shoes to fill but he is really on point in this clip.
Guilliman is alive in the time this takes place. Image playing as him one level. Just wading through Nids in slow motion, God Mode practically activated. Total Biscuit would have loved this.
I cant tell if the harsher growl in Titus's voice is a result of his past, his time with the Templars and the Inquisition, the Rubicon Primarus, or all three.
This is the Warhammer game we've needed. When I think of Warhammer I just think of massive planetary battles, wild Gothic, steam punk style art and weapons, and just an overwhelming sense of chaos. This somewhat captures that.

The giant plasma gun can overcharge but you have to roll a d6 and on a 5+ everyone in a 12 mile radius has to take d3 times 1,000 mortal wounds

Closest we have is Darktide. Which I'm grateful since isn't just another cashgrab mobile game.

As a fan of the the first game, hopefully they give the sound of the guns another pass because they don't sound nearly as meaty enough.
The regular boltgun in Space Marine should have sounded like the stalker bolter, which was proper chunky.
Boltgun and the Space Marines movie were peak Bolter sfx imo. And they should of took notes from those.

I think this games biggest hurdle is going to be replay ability. I’m curious to see how the devs will tackle that
Is it necessary though? I dont mind a good old fashioned single player experience. I for myself dont need every actual game to be a service game.
Co op/MP horde mode could be fun and it's fitting. But I'm fine with a one and done.

I hope they’ll announce the release date during summer fest like maybe with an extended gameplay trailer cause otherwise I’ll be hella worried they’ll delay the game. It’s almost June already and nothing concrete
They should delay as much as they need as long as it’s good in the end

This looks really great. I had my doubts about Clive Standen being able to do Titus' voiceover as he had some pretty big shoes to fill but he is really on point in this clip.
Guilliman is alive in the time this takes place. Image playing as him one level. Just wading through Nids in slow motion, God Mode practically activated.
Total Biscuit would have loved this.

The original space marine on the ps3 is the game that got me into warhammer! I loved that game, so I’m excited about this sequel.
I absolutely loved multiplayer in the original. Hoping this delivers with the same incredible balance of the classes.

I wish they would make a fallout type of open world RPG/FPS game of Warhammer. But I'll definitely be playing this when it comes out.
I cant tell if the harsher growl in Titus's voice is a result of his past, his time with the Templars and the Inquisition, the Rubicon Primarus, or all three.

This is the Warhammer game we've needed. When I think of Warhammer I just think of massive planetary battles, wild Gothic, steam punk style art and weapons, and just an overwhelming sense of chaos. This somewhat captures that.
The red decoration around the skull on his right shoulder pad makes me think of the Night Lords symbol.
