@JMIK123 he actually has a higher rev rate the belmo. usku just has more end over end roll then jason does and since he throws the ball harder it hooks less
it does, trust me, i just started doing the "twin-grip" or two handed approach, you can get a ton more power on it and can control the spin a lot more....plus i had a local pro, hope to be on the pro tour help me out, and hes been doing the two-handed for 5 years, and he can even backhand spin with the two-hands
I agree, I have a very similar style though I only use one hand...but still use only two fingers (like Osku/Jason). To generate more speed I get as low as I can, and try to speed the approach. Obviously my rev rate and speed are a little lower than these guys as I only use a single hand, though things are almost identical in all other areas. My rev rate is still very very high though I'm working on getting a little more speed to help on dry lane conditions with aggressive balls. Kei
Wow lotta hothead bowlers out there apparently. People chill, no need to judge, it's what he does, how does it affect you? It's a cool skill and I can appreciate that.
it is nice to see them struggle a bit. see them making moves on the approach. Unlike the Weber Cup. How many 300s on tv so far??? You could throw it anywhere on that lane and pretty much strike.
Softball players also go in a full 360 degree motion and are supposed to increase speed throughout. A proper bowling technique is to let gravity carry your arm the entire way with no force of your own. This obviously (if you've taken physics) does not generate more energy than putting your own force into it along with the gravity.
I find that hard to believe. On the PBA tour, they always speak of Robert Smith putting in the 650-700 range, yet when Osku went on several of the torneys' they never spoke of his rev rate. Do you have documented proof of your claims?
I give credit where its due. For instance, the style of reverse pencil grip in table tennis wasn't popularized until several years ago, and now its a venerable style. This however, its an oddity style that will NEVER come to popularity. I don't understand why you responded to multiple posts of mine. And I've used proof, hence why there are only 2 two handed bowlers that are "good."
Thats nice... also note that this guy uses 2 fingers, no thumb in the ball AND an extra hand to create that much spin.. Meanwhile.. Robert Smith uses ONE hand.. thumb IN the ball AND a specific drilling style known as Sarge Easter, where one of the finger holes is drilled Conventional to CUT down on his rev rate.. so 575 would be about 650+ with normal fingertips and i can only imagine with 2 fingers and a extra hand on the ball..
I find two hands a little easier. I don't know y it is easier but it just is. I bowl both ways. If I find a shot with one hand then i bowl one handed. If I find a shot with two then I bowl with two hands. I think its easier to bowl with your opposite hand two handed.
theres nothing wrong with two handers or no thumbers. Don't get me wrong. I bowl with no thumb. The carry is a lot better but when you go through the nose or high you have a much easier chance to get a nasty split. Plus whats the point of bowling any certain way if you can't control it.
I have been bowling two handed now for 4 years and i am told to stop over and over again. Most of this is due to the fact that the two handed style allows more carry than a normal style does due to the degree of hook and power. Two handers in my league have already bowled three 300s and two 800's so put that in your pipe and smoke it.
No way, I loft it sometimes? That couldn't be because that's how that house shot is played with my style, is it? No way, couldn't be. A RIDICULOUS amount of loft would be when I loft the gutter in one of my videos. Not when the ball lands at the dots. Follow through? And...? Are you one of the geniuses who still thinks that the CG on a ball matters, too?
I don't really see the point of a two-handed approach... it's not much different from just throwing a two-finger ball, and they're usually not very accurate when they have to play a straighter line anyway.
My comments would be that you are lying because nobody in the world has a sport average that is only 8 pins lower than their house average. The best sport bowlers in the world (PBA professionals, averaging about 210-225 on a sport shot) average over 250 on a house shot. Either you're lying or you are bowling on a horrible sport shot league that isn't an actual sport shot.
195 is decent for a sports shot. But I guess it makes you good enough for a "Top 15" bowling team in the country. Thats odd I would assume you would average higher as most "pro's" average in the low to mid 200's on sports shots. Are you sure your in a top 15 team?
Everyone says no one in the world does. So like I said, either you're bowling in a horrible house that doesn't even use a kegel machine, or you're lying. Because you're not only averaging 8 pins lower on a sport shot than you are on a house shot. The only people who might do that are the people who are straight-balling it down 19.
chill out man, bowling goes through its phases of innovation. If they feel they can get more revs on it let em. it's not always the greatest thing to have to much of. theres nothing wrong with this at all, and if you didn't know people were freaking out when people started using 3 fingers instead of a thumb and 1 finger.
Hilarious. First of all, he's not consistently in PBA Tournaments because he's in FINLAND and in case you didn't know, it costs lots of money to be in PBA Tournaments. Secondly, as a silver-certified USA bowling coach, I'm pretty sure I know what I'm talking about. Get your head out of your ass and stop being jealous that you don't have the physical tools to do what some of the best bowlers in the world do.
Last but not least, would you like to check my College Bowling profile showing a 195+ average on a variety of sport shots on a Top 15 in the country bowling team? Get the hell out of here.
Why would people watch you? I bowl high games with one hand and I barely have people watch me. I'm not talking like 205 230 or 250's. I'm talking like 290's. I'm not trying to act like a badass or cocky. I am just saying why would they all watch you?
And if you wanna keep b*tching about how I'm apparently a horrible bowler, why don't you go watch some of my videos and see how, as i'm sure you can't do since you're a house bowler, I can play different parts of the lanes and different styles of shot depending on the condition.
lol, dude I bowl at woodhaven lanes-Michigan, when you don't get anything for bowling high games. No I don't think my friend from college is the best because he averages 260, my friends that were on the high school team last year made states Abed Daher, Doug Mazurco. Abed=1 Doug=2 They at least average 270-280.
but look who was the best amateur for a long ass time it was sean rash and the only reason that belmonte is the best AMATURE is becuase he isnt good enough to go pro.
belmonte isnt that good he really isnt though he is a great spokes person for the usbc and i hear that he is a good coach but he just isnt that impressive
If you truly were a coach then you would admit that his style is horrid. Second throwing that way will not make you generate any more revs then a typical cranker. And third if your good enough you would travel and still make money. So I really doubt that you yourself are a good bowler, what a poser
@i3enthebowlerkid Sounds like your angry. lolumad? I have bowled on a sports shot a couple of times. I scored pretty well. 198,210,221. Have YOU ever bowled on a sports shot? I'm starting to doubt that. Even if he is bowling on a sports shot, he still sucks. Most people can agree with me on that. Just sayin'
How can opinions be wrong, your showing true ignorance. Again, in 5 years if this style becomes mainstreamed I will admit being wrong. I doubt it will happen. Get over it.
6:25 Osku Palermaa's super powerful shot at the Twister bowling pins at the Plus Bowling Center.
I wish i can throw ball as hard as him
his consistency and spare shooting is so much better now
this is the osku who just bowled a 1683 over 6 games series recently... hes a monster when on form...
So glad this video shows Osku missing a few shots, it's a refreshing change from seeing strike after strike.
I just realized his opponent is Wu Siu Hong. Greetings from Hong Kong!
@JMIK123 he actually has a higher rev rate the belmo. usku just has more end over end roll then jason does and since he throws the ball harder it hooks less
ive seen him on the WYC 2006 :) hes ball is freakin fast!!!!
the point of the other hand is to guide the other. The left hand also allows the right hand to stay under the ball longer allowing more revs
Thats a lot of spin! (Or hook) I'm a new bowler but I use this method to make my shots hook. I can't do it with one hand :(
it does, trust me, i just started doing the "twin-grip" or two handed approach, you can get a ton more power on it and can control the spin a lot more....plus i had a local pro, hope to be on the pro tour help me out, and hes been doing the two-handed for 5 years, and he can even backhand spin with the two-hands
Well.. Osku is well above 600 and has been tracked at 733 when he really wanted to rev it up.
Kei
Wow, That shot at 6:24
Watch the World Tenpin Masters..
Robert Smith average is 575 rpm, Osku averaged 620 in the masters.
Wow lotta hothead bowlers out there apparently. People chill, no need to judge, it's what he does, how does it affect you? It's a cool skill and I can appreciate that.
Last shot was amazing!!
it is nice to see them struggle a bit. see them making moves on the approach. Unlike the Weber Cup. How many 300s on tv so far??? You could throw it anywhere on that lane and pretty much strike.

This obviously (if you've taken physics) does not generate more energy than putting your own force into it along with the gravity.
More steps? If you notice, Osku has a 6 step approach. Its hard to say really.
there is no best "way" just like there is no "best" ass!! its what works for you that counts, after you get the basics then you work on consistance
Funny how he shuffles his feet the same way one handed as he does two handed
My best friend averages 235 in four leagues and has shot 35 300's and 16 800's since going to his two handed release.
I find that hard to believe. On the PBA tour, they always speak of Robert Smith putting in the 650-700 range, yet when Osku went on several of the torneys' they never spoke of his rev rate. Do you have documented proof of your claims?
solid staff

He got really lucky in a few of the middle frames. Went through the nose and somehow ended up with 9 pins. I guess that's what two-handed revs do.
I didn't know Osku can also throw 1 handed when picking up his spares sometimes
That's how he picks up single pins
Thats nice...
also note that this guy uses 2 fingers, no thumb in the ball AND an extra hand to create that much spin..

Oh wow, i timed osku last laserbeam strikeball, it took 1.25 secs.

@Misstersack yea i doubt that go bowl on US open you will shoot 150 i guarantee it
I wanna throw like him
theres nothing wrong with two handers or no thumbers. Don't get me wrong. I bowl with no thumb. The carry is a lot better but when you go through the nose or high you have a much easier chance to get a nasty split. Plus whats the point of bowling any certain way if you can't control it.
the one i commented on was a year ago...
must be a reallly hard sport shot
@E63isback yea lets see you try to beat him yourself ive never seen u on a pba telecast before
@i3enthebowlerkid How can you say I suck at bowling when you've never seen me...
move back hahaha
and omg osku was bowling so bad
I have been bowling two handed now for 4 years and i am told to stop over and over again. Oh, sorry, let me check the final rankings. Yep, there we are. Top 15. 8 pins out of nationals.
@WolfieTed Me neither
Uh, its called high school bowling. Not PBA or anything like that, and I'm talking about Michigan. He was State champ Twice
Your comment gave me a good laugh, he would destroy you.
@i3enthebowlerkid I haven't as I am not of legal age. League bowlers CONSTANTLY outscore the pros anyways. Look it up why don't you.
@Misstersack Scored Well*
No way, I loft it sometimes? That couldn't be because that's how that house shot is played with my style, is it? No way, couldn't be.

@rogueownaa Oi!! My dad was called George! >:(
:D

The best amateur in the world is using two hands. Jason Belmonte.
Hilarious. First of all, he's not consistently in PBA Tournaments because he's in FINLAND and in case you didn't know, it costs lots of money to be in PBA Tournaments. By the way, oh professional bowler, where are your videos? That's right...nobody wants to see the videos of a 155 average house bowler.
Why would people watch you? I bowl high games with one hand and I barely have people watch me. I'm not talking like 205 230 or 250's. I'm talking like 290's. I'm not trying to act like a badass or cocky. I am just saying why would they all watch you?

evryone knows mika's the better fin
this guy is balls.
give me thumbs downs i welcome it
Put your fingers in the ball and throw it right.

This is so lame! And wth kinda name is Osku?
Even I can bowl better than him and im 14
