15:44 Something I learned recently is that you can keep your gauge but find a size in the pattern that would give you your desired width or close to it. The math is: (your gauge per one inch or cm) times (desired width in inch or cm) and then divide that by the pattern gauge per one inch or cm. Then that number, look for a size that matches or gets close to that number in the pattern size widths. That Noro vest is so nice. I can't wait to start my Noro sweater after I'm done with the current sweater.
I find that cotton stretches and sags. It doesn’t have the memory in the fibres like wool does. The dryer can shrink cotton fibres😘😘 back into shape…like a stretched out cotton sock comes out of the dryer looking perfect.
@@sarahlovesdonuts9601 that's a good point, the cotton probably played a role in it being larger than expected. Especially the weight of the finished garment pulled it down alot more than my small gauge swatch. I'll keep that in mind for my next version!
Just found your channel and podcast, Angela! Drooling at all that glooorious Noro yarn from your Japan trip~ Love your energy + can't wait for the next pod episode!💛
@@AHandKnitLetter Yay! I'm glad the algorithm is reaching fellow knitters. I have only good thinks to say about the pattern! I'd like to reknit in the reverse colourway as well with a dark base and light contrast. I didn't find it too daunting as my first colourwork sweater because its all short repeats and you don't have to catch floats anywhere in the pattern.
Your Johanne sweater is gorgeous! Wet Coast Wools in Vancouver Is my local go to yarn store. Also, Your Next Knit in Vancouver is an online yarn store that is great. They are wonderful, and great prices. You might try them! I watched your cable cardigan episode and really enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing your knitting!
@@McKaylasCrafts the trifecta! I visited Europe last summer when I was just a baby knitter still and looking back I regret not going to any yarn stores! I was in London, Amsterdam and Berlin.

@@Serenity-fu8xz I've heard good things about their yarn! Maybe I'll give them a try when I'm brave enough 😂. I'm always wary of online photos but being true to colour.
Yay, I'm so happy that the algorithm put you on my homepage! Can't wait to see Part 2 😄
I'm glad the algorithm is reaching my people! 🥰
I totally agree about patterns! They are guidelines rather than rules! I change all kinds of things!
So glad the algorithm brought me to your channel! I love your style.
