- National Self-Awareness Day (Sept 28th)
On this day we reflect on our self-worth, objectively evaluate ourselves and become more aware of our overall mental health. A person who is fully self-aware understands who they are, knows their strengths/weaknesses and easily communicates with others while controlling their thoughts/emotions.
Sadly, a person who is not self-aware often struggles with self-worth and a lack of purpose which can possibly lead to overall sadness, anxiety, confusion and even self-harm.
Being conscious alone doesn’t guarantee self-awareness.
Unfortunately, lack of self-awareness and self injury often go hand in hand. A person who is not self-aware can become more self-critical and self-debilitating, possibly resulting in some form of self-harm (physical or mental).
Today (4% of the population) has come to accept self-harm as a part of their daily life in an attempt to maintain some sense of control over their lives.
The warning signs may be - isolation, verbal statements describing their lack of self-value or their unworthiness to receive love.
These individuals NEED our actions and acceptance and NOT our absence.
We fight to remain unique, because unique is who we are!
