There is absolutely nobody in NHRA that can take away the legacy John Force has created
No doubt, the legacy of team racing aka blocker cars..... Bob Glidden never had a Tony Pedragon, Robert Hight, Gary Densham, Eric Medlin, or any other "teammate" to take out his competition and take dives for him...
False, he is a racer that relies on a lot of help like everyone else.
I've been to a lot of races over the years, walked around the pits...not one time has Don Schumacher EVER been seen walking around talking to fans. John Force has literally taken pictures with myself and my kids, and signed them the following year. I have watched him walk up into the stands unannounced, sit with people he didn't know, talk to the kids....he is a fan favorite! Not Mr. Money Don.

The Don was pissed that Force did to him just what he did to force the end of last season, he Accuses John of over paying crew chiefs which is exactly what Shumaker hired three of Forces top level chiefs - by way over pricing - Don is not the one to be casting stones here
No Don, owning a quarter of the field is killing the sport. When you have 4 of 16 cars competing for a Wally, that is what is killing the sport.

Can’t believe Force still has any fans after his cheating at Indy in 2009 to get his son in law into the top 10 countdown. But hey some people have no integrity or character!
trailerpark cryptoking - Smoking the tires is completely legal in the NHRA so whether it was intentional (quite plausible) or not, it is NOT cheating. Look at it this way, if you owned a team and tried EVERYTHING within the rules to satisfy or please your sponsors because you NEED to keep them onboard, would you have done the same thing since it IS NOT violating any rule? That's what I thought.....
Racer Whether what john did is "right" or not, you cant blame him for wanting to win. Sometimes you gotta loose to win everyonce in a while, nothing wrong with not winning so some one else can win, especially when your as old as john.
The NHRA is a shadow of itself. Gone are the days of old pick up trucks and trailers and a bunch of people who just loved racing a full 1/4 mile, helping each other in the pits and having a good time. Now anybodies baby can get in anything and race it. I feel sorry for the people on teams that have to be caught in this non sense. Big money has completely taken over and it's sad. No more Lions, Irwindale, Orange County, Ontario and many others, all gone and so has gone the sport. They didn't even show most of the burnouts this past week. All the drivers have to plug every single sponsor when ever a mike gets in their faces, ridiculous.
It was REAL fun back in the days, today with episodes like this I can only think, mouth , money and morons!

Most of the pro cars don't really do much of a burn out anymore. Tire technology is such that a big long smoky burnout is not required. Tire warmers in the pits get the tires close to where they need to be. The money at national events is in setting low qualifying times, going rounds and winning races.
We have to change with the times, or be left behind.

I don't agree with Don saying paying crew more is killing the sport. I think it's good for the sport. If you don't want to pay a lot for top talent, that's your choice. A healthy rivalry is great for any sport.

Don john is not hurting the sport he is actually attracting more competitive edge. What's wrong with Overpaying your teams in comparison with the competition. This isn't the NBA there is no salary caps. Why would you not want to highly compensate a team that bust their ass for you and your family business just so your net income can be higher while they sacrifice their time, blood, sweat, tears, and even families with these long short turnaround seasons. I hope JFR continue to scoop up all the talent in the nitro classes!
I have been following drag racing for nearly forty seven years, enjoyed the racing, drivers / teams / sponsors and the great friendship contained therein. BUT when the "press/ media get hold of something like this and blow it out of all proportion, it really pisses me off! Reiff, Pedregon, etc. or Fox Sports director just drop it. You are not doing the true fans / sponsors any favors by this coverage.

It's interesting that Don Schumacher would be upset over crewchief movement between his camp and JFR: he (Schumacher) started this whole thing a couple years ago by hiring Prock away from Force WHILE THE SEASON WAS STILL ACTIVE. Even IF Force is "overpaying" as Don says, at least Force had the DECENCY to talk to Prock DURING THE OFFSEASON.
Plus all DSR crew chiefs were 1st with JFR, Medlen, Guido, etc. He's a hypocrite, and NHRA and their greed is destroying the sport, just like NASCAR. I went to 2 events this yr. DO NOT but tickets. Pay General admission at gate. Stands are 75% empty on finals day (Sunday). Early 2000's they had ushers to make sure you paid for the good seats. Now no one cares. I never sit anyway. I'm a fence hugger in all different areas throughout the day Schumacher is just greedy, and wants to keep all the $$ for himself. Why else would he lose 8 drivers in 1 single year?????

It's amazing Jimmy Prock ran to Don Schumacher when his salary was cut . Schumacher gave him everything he needed to be successful . Then he quit and went back to John force that man that cut his salary . It will happen again . Only this time Jimmy Prock will be out in the coal

Dee Zee You have your facts wrong! Force lost Ford and Castrol because he couldn’t win! He told his crew they didn’t have a job for the folding season and to try and find employment elsewhere! Prock walked over to DSR and asked for a job for the following season and was hired! He went back to the Force camp and told John he got a job for the following season with DSR! Force and his grandiose narcissistic ego got pissed and told Prock to leave right then, which he did! Prock finished the season at DSR and consistently put JFR cars on the trailer! Force landed Peak as a major sponsor and realized he couldn’t keep them if he couldn’t win a race, so he actually went and stole Prock back by doubling his pay and apologizing for being an arrogant crybaby prick!!! If your gonna spew at least spew the facts which you apparently are unfamiliar with!!!
You really think about it,when Courtney was racing DSR & JFR accounted for 7, that's right 7 of the available 16 spots to fill the field. Personally I think these multi car teams have to stop. Two owners occupying almost 1/2 the feild is keeping other racers doing just match races because they just can't keep up. Depending on some tire smoke or engine failure is no way to enter and NHRA event with hopes of winning by them major league drivers to make a mistake.
It seems to me that if the "facts" regarding sabotage were true someone should be serving time in a federal penitentiary right now. Who in their right mind would let someone from their biggest rivals team just wander over and start working on their opponents car? I don't know the facts surrounding Eric Medlin's death but if brake lines were cut or other foul play going on and that a fan has all these "facts" that there would be witnesses and evidence to substantiate these claims. They are some pretty heavy accusations and when loss of life is involved it is beyond belief that NHRA and the principle players involved,ie. the team owner(s), drivers and pit crew personnel would not be aware of any sabotage. In any case that would be a foolhardy move by Don S. with the assets he would be putting at risk. Not to mention his freedom.

I go way back to the Bounty Hunter (Kalitta) vs Windsjammer IV (Garlits) (1965) and it looks like to me that while I like them both, Don doesn't like free agency. Hell if I had the money to go racing, I'd pay Prock to come to work for me.

exactly and Prock, Hight, and Hood are with Force not him. These three are more than John's crew chiefs and drivers they are his family. Hood worked for Don but he saw better at Team Force thats why he married Ashley, Hight was a rookie when he started that was until he met Adria and had Autumn now he is John's right hand man, Prock is John's crew chief and best friend his son Austin is Brittany's boyfriend, and Graham Ruhal he owns their shop in Indy and is Courtney's husband. Team Force is more than a team they are a family and Don can not split them apart.

So why does Schumacher think he determines what all crew chiefs get paid? As far as destroying the sport comment, Force has done more for drag racing than Schumacher in my opinion because Force started with nothing and built it to what it is today...like him or not.
It's a shame that the NHRA has let what was once a great motorsport,turn into what it has over the last several years! There was once a time where each pro category had twice as many entries as there were spots to qualify for,and now we are lucky to have all 16 cars to make a complete field.There is no longer that dream of someday owning a pro class car unless you have major corporate sponsorship or you are just plain filthy rich.Remeber when out in southern California,they would have 32 car fields and sometimes even more.I'm talking topfuel and funny cars.I don't know what the average fan wants,but I want to see changes made to allow more people to compete in the pro classes,and not just JFR and DSR!! Those two teams can afford to blow their stuff up on every pass as long as it's a win for them and that is bullshit!! I can remember when a good nitro tuner could have a winning car and use the same block the entire weekend,and 1000' racing is also bullshit,as is 4 wide drag racing.We don't need to turn this into anymore of a dog and pony show than it already is.There could easily be changes made to this sport that would bring life back in to it,but for now it is kind of like all of the rest of the racing in the US,which is loosing popularity everywhere.Look at NASCAR and the IRL.Nothing near as close to what they once were,and now drag racing in my mind is stepping in the wrong direction.Who really gives a shit to see and hear Force and Schumacher talk about rivalry,I'd rather see more of just these two at the NHRA events,but we all know who really controls the NHRA don't we!
You are absolutely right 100%. NHRA wanted to appear to not stifle the creativity and innovation in the "unlimited pro classes" and the bigger blowers and fuel pumps etc. drove the cost up. Then all of a sudden "surprise" the cars are so powerful they cut it back to 1,000ft. Mandated what rear gear and even max. RPM can be run. It would have been much better IMO to have put limitations on the fuel cars BEFORE the cost of one complete engine equalled what used to be wrapped up in an entire race car. Then maybe you wouldn't have had to chisel away at the length of a drag strip etc. Now corporations control the destiny of NHRA drag racing. There really are no competitive "lo buck" teams anymore. If you don't snag one or more big corporate sponsors there is no racing season for your team.
The only thing that John will do that destroys the sport is retiring. Just a fact.

Guess Don doesn't realize that for some people money talks! For some it's about $$$$$$$ for others it could be whatever. Over paying employees? With that pay comes a whole lot of responsibility and high expectations. If John's sponsors want to spend the kind of money for his teams to perform and win! Them it their prerogative!

The way I was raised. How much someone makes should be known only to the person and their employer. Crew chief must be worth what John is willing to pay. Perhaps, you get what you pay for something?
The race coverage on Fox is absolutely terrible . I don't give a damn what John force has to say about anything . Instead of getting better you gotten worse . Half the time you don't even show reaction times on Pro stock. Does anyone understand that means something to racers .
I've been a loyal fan of the NHRA since the late 1970's and I always look forward to the televised coverage of the events. With that said, I can't wait for the commencement of the 2017 racing season. However I do have one comment about the way FOX broadcasted the events during the 2016 racing season. They always seemed to give more coverage to the Top Fuelers and Funny Cars, with abbreviated coverage given to the Pro Stock classes. The old adage of "Win on Sunday, Sell on Monday" seems more relevant to the Pro Stock classes, as I doubt that anyone will be going to their local dealership on Monday to purchase a Top Fuel Dragster or Funny Car (okay, and in all fairness, they're probably not going to buy a Pro Stock version of the Camaro or a Pro Stock version of a Harley-Davidson either, but I think you get the idea). I realize time is a constraint, however I would prefer to see more equal coverage given to these classes as opposed to constant "Report from the pits" segments that just takes up valuable time, when it could be spent on the actual racing instead. I personally preferred the way ESPN covered the events, as it was more even among the 4 professional classes, however I do appreciate that FOX does broadcast the events, and I look forward to their continued coverage of the events in 2017, since that's all the TV coverage we have.

When Ford/Castrol pulled sponsorship from Force because they couldn’t win a race, force told his crew they didn’t have a job for the following season and to start looking elsewhere. Jimmy Prock walked over to DSR and asked for a job and was hired on the spot. The following season the DSR car that Prock tuned continually put JFR cars on the trailer race after race. Force realized he couldn’t beat DSR and he went and offered Prock double the average crew chief pay to come back to JFR (probably had to apologize for his narcissistic arrogance also)! Schumacher is correct when he says that if drag racing budgets increase a lot that sponsors will pull out of the sport. Sponsors have limited marketing budgets to fund these race teams. Don Schumacher is rich but take note that his son didn’t have a sponsor for 2019 so he had to set the season out. Don could fund his son but he is too intelligent to throw away his own fortune to race because he isn’t as arrogant as Force. When Ford/Castrol pulled the plug on JFR he said he would spend his own money to race if he didn’t obtain sponsorship the following season, that’s ego/arrogance at its peak. Those are the facts! Not sure if you’re into facts are just a star struck zombie? Good Day!

Not a big Schumacher fan either, but he had a company from his dad and made alot of his money from that company called Schumacher Electric. Don't fault the man for having a business background. And most of you have never seen Don drive a funny car in person like I did back in the late 60's till he retired from driving.
Maybe John Force racing has me completely fooled on the following. If I were to take a guess between John Force and Don Schumacher I would guess Don Schumacher has more money to spend, as in pays crew chiefs, versus John Force.

What I find totally amazing is that a perceived billionaire accuses an NHRA Legend of ruining the sport by "overpaying" his team, when this same billionaire owns 7 Top Fuel and Funny Car teams, all with major sponsorship money. Who's ruining the sport...the one whose 7 professional teams probably makes it a lot more difficult for less-funded teams to successfully compete at this level, or a driver/owner who has paid his dues in the sport and comes from very humble beginnings? John Force is a legend and a true ambassador of the NHRA, and the last time I checked, NHRA hasn't placed a salary cap on crew members, so team owners can pay their teams whatever they choose!!

The fact that the guys like force and schumacher have 9 or 12 cars between them how ever many they have. that is what is ruining racing. who is schumacher to say a crewchief is overpaid? how much of his own money does he put in his teams? he is a racer and he will spend what it takes. i will bet prock got a raise to go to work for schumacher. the NHRA should limit owners to 2 teams, no manufacturing and selling parts and also put a limit to engine damage. to stop the explosions from runnung on the edge every run. they have done the samething in nascar with all these multicar teams. their should be a way to have atleast 10 differnt owners in a 16 car field and the only way to do that is shrink the big teams! just my opinion and i know we all have one .

Both Force and Schumacher are fierce competitors and that is why they are the best of the best. Obviously they are going to bump heads from time to time. That's what bulls do. I honestly think Prock needs to take some responsibility, pick a side and stay loyal to that side.
sports in general have been ruined by big money period, that is why they put caps on sports funding, the old days was better for more teams to compete on low
budgets and nascar is a joke because the cars do not represent what they did back in the early days where street cars ran the races with modification to them.

NHRA please take this video down and mark it private. Don Schumacher is gone, his team is folded, and we don't need any record of the death threats he made over the last 17 years. The rivalry ended after Brittany won Pomona and after Brittany had her big wreck in 2018 and Leah poll vaulted her car. After those races Don and John went back to the drawing board and made cars safer. Nobody is trying to sabotage anyone.
You Know why DSR folded? You know why Geedo went with Capps? and Do You know why Leah went to Big Smoke with Matt? It is because of COVID and Don wanted to retire well he did and the rivalry is now over so this video of Don making threats on Fox and ESPN needs to be taken down we need to honor his memory and not accuse him of killing two drivers and causing John to wreck at Dallas because that did happen and the DSR mechanics who caused it no longer work for him or the NHRA. Although Disney and ESPN exaggerated it in their films we know what happened at Gainesville, Englishtown, and Dallas and they portrayed Don and John in a negative light.. Nobody is out to sabotage anyone, exchanging parts is illegal, and Don Schumacher, Geedo, and Jimmy Prock worked so hard to make the NHRA safer. In the 90s and in the 2000s when Disney made those films the cars were made of steel and they were pushing the envalope to break the Mile, Quarter Mile, and Half Mile record for Guinness. After Medlin died Gainesville was modified now the track has a net and there is sand and rubber barrels at the end of it after Kiletta died DSR and Team Force put in the escape hatch and installed the dipper under the cars if the engine blows up it is designed to go downwards so the flames do not enter the cab.
After John's wreck in 2007, Brittany's wreck in 2018, and Leah's wreck in 2019 at the US Nationals cars can not be make of aluminum in the chassis bow that needs to be heavy steel to weigh the car down thats why the cockpits were modified because of the extra weight also more padding was added and a roll cage was put in something Brittany and Leah did not have or John when they wrecked. Also those of you asking NHRA and Team Force to bring back the Mile, Quarter Mile, and Half Mile I tell you to stop that is not going to happen those races are unsafe and NHRA will only go to 300 feet and stop thats why Englishtown closed and thats why Denver, Topeka, Memphis, and older Mile tracks also closed and is why Thunder Valley, ZMax, Vegas, and Sonoma opened Tracks like Pomona, Indy, Chicago, Richmond, and Epping were modified Maple Grove was reduced, and Brainard was extended also this is why Wild Horse was sold and why Firebird is back after modifications we are trying to make the sport safer. So please don't insult The Don's memory by calling him a cheater obsessed with killing John Force that rivalry ended when Brittany won Pomona NOBODY IS OUT TO SABOTAGE JOHN OR TEAM FORCE! That is done over with NHRA already delivered the punishment.
Yes DSR and Team Force drivers love to pull pranks on each other but it is all for fun and everyone loves to pick on Brittany, .Capps, Leah, Robert, Tony, Hagan, and everyone loves to prank The Goat who else loves pulling a prank on Old John Force the NHRA also does that. So please honor Don's memory and we will have no more talk about the 2000s or the rivalry.

Funny i raced 1/5th scale dirt modified and it was the same.
Some kid showed up with daddy and the big motor home and a 20 ft trailer
to race a car that is 3 ft long. We raced good stock motors but no they had
to have the bigger twice the price we had and blew the cabs off everybody.
I quit racing because of it. Got tired of the attitude of he who has the cash gets the prize.
