I remember going to Pomona when I was little with my dad as NHRA back in 72/73. That was an awesome time in my life. Don Shumacher was one of the pioneers, and NHRA is better for what he did. RIP Don! You will be missed, but never forgotten!!
My friend who is a huge John Force fan was always bad mouthing Don Schumacher's teams. I reminded him that without Schumaker, professional drag racing would be 25 years behind every other motorsport.
I'm almost 70 years old and I grew up in a city called Azusa in Southern California not too far from Irwindale Dragstrip Don Schumacher Stardust Rowan Leon's Hawaiian Super Chief Charlie Allen Gas Ronda Gene Snow Jungle Jim liberman Big Jim Dunn I could go on and on I was about 13 years old and would mow Lawns after school to get 10 bucks to go to the drag races on Saturday
