2 1/2 minutes in Hull is nothing, generally they put the barriers down and wait for 2 trains, (Cottingham is worse as they are closed whilst the train approaches from Beverley into the station , sits there and then proceeds through the Barriers which have been down ages. I must time it some time.
The only time my town, and the same road that I live on gets noticed is for it's level crossing. Didn't realise I lived like 20 odd doors down from such a rarity.
This was the crossing where the police helicopter had to hover in front of a train to stop it from crashing into a stolen Jaguar which had been involved in a car chase and had tried to evade the police by attempting to drive along the track.
The track nearest the camera is bidirectional as far as I’m aware. Trains coming off the Springbank Jn - Walton Street Jn spur do it that way before crossing over.
At the same time, I can just remember the truncated line where the crossing at Spring Bank Botanic Gardens station was. The line was cut short just before the crossing and I remember seeing stored carriages there, with the ends faces the road. The line has since been cut back further, so you can't see it from the site of the old crossing.
@@UKLevelCrossingsChannel You've probably located it now but it was nearer the city centre to this location. If you look on Google Maps or similar at this location and then zoom out a little, you can see where a line branched off and went directly North. It was on the Hull - Hornsea line.
Does this make it the largest Level Crossing in the UK? I know large crossings like this are a rarity there, especially when compared to the United States. Excellent Video! :D
Thanks very much 😁 In terms of length, it's not the largest. Helpston crossing is the longest UK crossing, followed by Maxey crossing which I've both filmed. This crossing in the video is certainly a contender for the widest crossing in the UK, although it is a split carriageway.
There's a couple of crossings with a similar dual-carriageway layout. Examples are Newhaven crossing and Sunningdale crossing which I've filmed. I'm not too sure which is the widest though, possibly this one to be honest.
Well what a fabulous and unique level crossing! It's really massive, and very unique because of the 6 barriers! There is a lot to like about this level crossing - effectively it's two three-barrier level crossings working as one, with the loud alarms! Those people at the end, and the fact that, as you said, one of the halogen bulbs has been taken with the lens broken, leads me to think that where this level crossing is located seems a bit rough round the edges 😶 Fabulous video nonetheless! 👌👌😁
Thanks! 😎 Yeah it was very interesting to visit and film, especially watching 2 barriers on one side lower together crossing the carriageway. I personally found Hull quite nice.
Am sorry you got my home town name wrong and we are not in east riding of Yorkshire that Beverly that area it's proper name is Kingston upon Hull east Yorkshire England if Google Kingston upon Hull it will tell you how we got our name
I know it's known as Kingston upon Hull but it's more commonly known as Hull, and what I've known it to be. Likewise, East Yorkshire can also be known as East Riding or, what I've known it as, East Riding of Yorkshire. Hull is a port city in East Riding of Yorkshire, as stated on Google and Google Maps.
Wow, 6 Barriers in one Crossing!? Now that is really amazing!!, It’s great seeing all those barriers lowering and raising!!!!👍🏻👍🏻😁😁
Yeah that’s where I live, it sounds different now
I love this crossing. I go by it every day and always makes my day
It's a very unique crossing, being on a dual-carriageway and having six barriers in total 👍
Not far from my house I never knew this was such a rare massive crossing. Every October Hull fair takes place just behind that White House
Yeah, out of all the crossings in the UK, this one is pretty unique.
Not far from mine ever
Lights come on at 0:09 barriers down at 0:17
Train finally crosses at 2:44
2 1/2 minutes is quite a wait !
That is about average for a full barrier crossing like this in the UK. However, the half barrier crossing types are usually only a 30 second wait

My nemesis, especially when its Hull Fair!

Oh wow, I remember watching that video years ago aswell.
Fab video, massive level crossing❤️❤️
Thanks! 😊 Yes it is, a very unique crossing
Never mind the cars running the red - check out the stupid pedestrians running out into the traffic on the far side of the crossing just before 3:00
Yeah I was surprised seeing that. A cyclist on the opposite side to where I was standing stopped and started shouting at them lol
Wow nice video keep it up! 😀
Thank you 😊

Ah right. I was wondering that.
Great video and crossing!
Thanks! 😁
I remember this crossing back in the early '80s when rattly, bouncy, noisy, smokey DMUs would rasp through.
Ah that's interesting, I didn't realise there was a station near here. Certainly looked very different in the 1960s looking at old photos

Coleraine station has 5 barriers. this has 6 barriers!?!?!?
Yep, six barriers here. One barrier on each of the 'entrance' sides to the crossing, and two on the 'exit' sides.
I've been past this LC on my way to Balne LC, nice video! 😆
Thanks 😁
This level crossing set up is a bit like Sunningdale level crossing on the A30
Yeah it is with the road island and 2 lanes in each direction. However, this crossing has two extra barriers.

@@UKLevelCrossingsChannel Are there any other Split-Carriageway Level Crossings in the country?
@@jaredg4519 yep
Yayy, you've been to my home town(:
Yeah, I was a great holiday, I enjoyed visiting this crossing 😎
@@UKLevelCrossingsChannel Glad you enjoyed your stay!
are there any other crossings of this scale (in terms of width more than length) in the country?
There's a couple of crossings with a similar dual-carriageway layout. Examples are Newhaven crossing and Sunningdale crossing which I've filmed. I'm not too sure which is the widest though, possibly this one to be honest.
A very nice crossing! 😀
Indeed 😁
Great video, I never knew that was here even though I have been to Hull a few times
Thanks! 😎 Yeah this is the nearest crossing to Hull's city centre. There's two other crossings near here but I didn't film them.
@@UKLevelCrossingsChannel I've now filmed the other two crossings in Hull, but I didn't have time to film this before I had to leave
Can you do Croesnewedd (wrexham) level crossing pls
Probably a bit too far for me to go this year unfortunately
00:09 start
Anybody get the plate of the blue Corsa?
It's incredible (not to mention illegal and stupid) the amount of drivers you capture going through red lights.
Yeah, drivers are so impatient nowadays. It wouldn't take long to see people ignore red lights.
Great video
Thanks! 😁
Good video, impatient drivers as per usual. This crossing is one of the worst crossings for misuse especially when Hull Fair is on.
Thanks 😊 Yeah it was a very busy crossing. Not surprised someone was impatient enough to ignore the red lights
@@UKLevelCrossingsChannel I'm sick of it lol
Omg I live near there 😳
Sounds like Barmouth sold alarm
Does not
Over TWO minutes before the train comes lumbering through?? Oy!!

I live near this crossing . Still dont get the why this vid is on here.
Well because I visit and film different level crossings. This crossing has been filmed more than once.
Very unusual.😎
Yeah it's a very interesting and unique crossing

Hull is in East Riding of Yorkshire. It just has it's own local authority.
nice bro
Thanks 😎
Why am I not surprised that the chav with the oversized exhaust pipe was the one that jumped the red lights. Idiot. Anyway nice video!
Thanks! 😎 Yeah, no surprise. Don't know who'd wanna drive that junk anyway lol
Misuse
Newhaven 2X
Yeah lol
I know this crossing
I've known it for quite a while.
Should be banned if they go through red light
Yeah, would teach them a lesson in ignoring red lights.

Aw, I went here for a weekend and it was actually quite nice
