Your comparison with heads just makes me wish more that Hasbro will with a few minor changes(remove side burns, recolour pants etc) use the 20th anniversary heads on the maestro body/colour scheme to make the 80's animated Hulk. Also still hoping they modify the sculpt to have front butterfly joints so we can do the double fist slam better and add open palm hands for the thunderclap.
Love this buck, but would love to see one with two-sided butterfly joints just to get the motion and at least see it in person. I wouldn’t go for the maestro color scheme for the 80s cartoon Hulk, something brighter. Would love to see the cell shading for it though. And a Professor Hulk from the comics would be great!
Yes! I would love just once for a Hulk I can pose with the thunderclap! Also, fun fact, I listened to the intro of the 80s Hulk cartoon to get jazzed up for making this video.
Congrats on the 150 vids and thanks so much for the in-depth vid… interesting conclusion you got to, and while I disagreed on some of the individual points, interesting that my two favorite are the ML 20th and 80th anniversary Hulks. I think most people would say that the DST Immortal Hulk is their favorite and I can see why; but nobody talks about how easily the hands fall out and I’m not a fan of the Hulk sculpt (the eyes) for a classic Hulk look. The ML 80th is the iconic Hulk look (including the color and shading, and the ML 20th is a more stylized Hulk which I actually like a lot.
Thanks so much, I appreciate it. Yeah, the right hand on mine was pretty loose. In hindsight, I should have mentioned that. I didn't have any trouble with the left hand, though. I do see why the DST would be a lot of people's favorite, but the proportions bother me too much. The head is just too big, and the arms are too thin compared to the body.
@@5POAFigureReviews Definitely agree with you points about DST Immortal Hulk; always thought the Face-Off Hulk was too skinny as well, but otherwise the sculpt end texturing are FANTASTIC. I’ve noticed that with ML 20th Hulk that the shading and head sculpts appear to be designed to look best with natural lighting that comes down on the figure: the colors blend better with the torso still having a vibrant look, and the natural shadowing effect seems to blend the head sculpts more into the body while still emphasizing certain features of his face. He definitely looks more unnatural with the a bright camera light straight on, especially if the whole figure is captured in the view. I think the best shading and color overall comes to the DST Immortal Hulk; Face-Off Hulk is just way too dark.
First time viewer. Great presentation with editing & comparisons! I have an unopened 80th, but your head-swap between the 20th and Maestro is a brilliant change. The paint between the two and the accessories from the 20th give me pause. I may want to create that version just because he looks more like the ToyBiz-style ruggedness
3:28 Ben Solo: It's over, uncle Luke! I have embraced the Dark Side of the Force, changed my name to Kylo Ren, got myself a sweet crossguard lightsaber and now...i'm going to FINISH what Darth Vader started!!! Luke Skywalker: You...make Luke...ANGRY! You...wouldn't...LIKE ME...when i'm...ANGRY!!! ( Begins Hulking Up ). Kylo Ren: Oh...SHIT!!!
I loved this video, versus are your strongest suits, if I may say! Congrats on the 150 videos! I love that you mentioned the fight with Thanos in the MCU. I would have loved to see them fight again but I really think it didn't happen for many reasons, the main one being that they sort of ended up making a joke out of Hulk. He was more for laughs than for fights at some point and he lost the "anger" and wildness that for me defines him. I understand it was meant to be character evolution but when you see the first Avengers movie and he says he's always angry and then you see him having a selfie with kids and thumbs up... I just can't help thinking they disolved the character in bad humour and other meaningless things. So I think that's why we couldn't enjoy that "round 2" we would have loved (and also why I think the ruined the character for me). Hopefully, they do something cool with him from here on but I doubt it with the She Hulk thing, most likely, she'll be the angry one now and not him...
Thanks, Dan! I love doing the Versus, and people really like them, that's for sure. I agree with you about Hulk. Doing this video really had me think a lot about him and how he has been handled. It seems to me that Marvel Studios has made a very intentional decision from the start to disconnect Hulk from his roots as a man struggling to maintain his temper. In the Norton movie, it was mostly stress. In the first Avengers, he was just "always angry," and then in Ragnarok he was just a fun macho brawler. The only time we have seen a truly unhinged, rageful Hulk was in Age of Ultron, and even then he was under Wanda's influence, which removes a certain level of responsibility from him. I think the MCU is afraid to make him unlikable or non kid friendly, so they have gone the route they have -- to the point where he has become utterly divorced from his pathos and what makes him relatable.
Congratulations on the 150th video milestone, great Vlog keep up the great work. I love the head swap segment; I had gotten two Maestro Hulks in error and could not get rid of one, so it stayed in the box until now. After seeing how great the Paul Harding head sculpt (not one of my favorite looks for the green giant) pairs with the Maestro body, I intend to hunt down the head sculpt just to have that variation. BTW you are correct about the Hasbro 80 year and the Marvel Select Immortal Hulks, they were both sculpted by Gentle Giant Studios.
Great video and review. Thanks and happy 150! A huge Greenskin fan from the Silver Age, I have a penchant towards the DST for my dioramas. I have the Immortal and the Planet Hulk. However I also have the 80th Anniversary Hulk and I truly think it is Hasbro's best version of the character. The 20th Anniversary portrait color threw me off from purchasing it, but I love what they did to the highlights on the pants.
Thank you! Yeah, the pants are great, and I do like the 20th heads on the Maestro body. DST has some really awesome Hulks. I don't have the Planet Hulk myself, but I got one for my dad.
Thanks for comparing these 'boys'...!! Now, ... if only we could get a real Kirby-Hulk... with crooked teeth... and all of the good things about these Hulks...!!
Great video & you singing the Terminator theme was unexpected. I actually have a habit of hearing the Terminator themes every day & I did hear them like one hour ago & when I watch this review, I hear you singing the Terminator theme. That was a really nice surprise lol. Anyway when talking about the Hulk figures, I think I too, prefer the 80 Years one.
Man the detail on 20th anniversary compared to 80th, it makes the later looks so bland lol. Love the John & Sal Buscema looks and oh, the bloodshot eyes.
Wow the 80 years and 20th anniversary Hulk are great in my opinion and even though I don't have any of them, I'm going to consider on getting the Marvel Legends 20th anniversary Hulk because the 2 pack 80 years Hulk with Wolverine is around 80.00$ to 90.00$, As always great VS videos.
Excellent Comparision!!! Btw When you mentioned giving up on the Diamond select line, I felt the same with Legends as I've sold my entire Spiderman legends line and replaced each character with the select version. I've personally realized that the 7" is my favorite scale since I still get a decent amount of articulation, accessories and solid paint and sculpt. To this day there hasn't been a standalone release Spidey that can compare to the Select Spectacular since that comes with a peter parker head, all different hands including web holding ones, camera, and a loose mask all for 20 bucks. Also Happy 150!!
Thanks, George! Yeah, that Spectacular Spider-Man is something special. I originally was Select only until Legends started to really ramp up their quality. Now I reserve Select for the larger scale characters. I can't wait for Apocalypse!
Yeah, that is a great figure. If you could still easily find him for $20 he would definitely be the best value figure ever, but nowadays you can only find him for like $65+. At his current price it makes more sense to go for the new Spider-Man Spinneret two pack or spring for the new Mafex comic accurate classic Spidey. I do like 7 inch scale a lot, but 6 inch is kind of the industry standard so it's easier to build a 6 inch scale collection. Unless you exclusively work in 7 inch it's not really worth it now imo.
@@blake2697 oh yea I've slowly realized that 7" is my prefered scale. Diamond Select said they were working on putting that figure back in stock, it's just tricky cause it's a Disney store exclusive.

I agree, thanos let hulk hit him too many times and also held back on too many of his punches, hulk would’ve already started getting way more angry and fought back.
A rematch between hulk and Thanos in Endgame would've been awesome but they kinda nerfed hulk and brushed him aside to make way for Cap, Thor, and Iron Man in that final battle.
I don’t know if I kinda like the 20th anniversary one at first I didn’t like it but it’s growing on me a lot there’s just some thing about it like a sadness in the face
Man I saw the 20th Hulk in the Amazon and nearly buy it, but the dark tone of the face what gave me to hold back, I'm hesitant to buy him, and it also quite expensive, there's also some poses that makes the head to the body looks unproportion and makes the head looks wide and big in some view. 80th Hulk is what I'm wanted and he looks more like a comic character hulk but it's hard to find him with a decent price on the market.
❤️ The marvel legends because I got one. But a lot of things wrong with it. Hascrap could have used a softer plastic or rubber for the torso so the arms could come forward. The elbows are horrible. They have a flap covering the joint that looks hideous. And the waist could have used a dumbbell joint system. And of all of them hascrap didn't include a non snarling face!!!😝
I'm not sure if you are considering on getting the Marvel Legends West Coast Avengers White Vision but when you do, Please do a review on him because he looks really good in my honest opinion even though I don't have him.
My absolute favorite design for the hulk is the Alex Ross/Immortal Hulk design. To my knowledge, that design has never had a good articulated figure, closest thing is the toybiz galactus wave Grey Hulk variant. Maybe in ten years we’d get the avengers 70th anniversary program and get an immortal hulk but I doubt it. There is a great custom Immortal head for Select I have seen online. Given how easy it would be to put a new head on the Hulk body, I am sure we will get one sooner than later.
the 80 head on the 20 body is perfect to me to bad those heads are hard to come by alone. That being said i think the 20 body would look cool wearing a weapon x helmet.
I love the original Toybiz Marvel Legends Hulk (2002) because every time I see that face sculpt, it makes me laugh because he looks like he dumped ass.
BTW you said you won't be getting and reviewing this but why are you doing it now? and are you going to review the dc multiverse mcfarlane toys gold label wonder woman anytime soon man
Once the idea for a four-way Versus between these particular figures popped into my head, I just couldn't shake it. I just had to do it, and the 150th video felt like a good special occasion for something big like that. Next video is Death of the Family Joker, and then either Marvel Legends Retro Rhino or Wonder Woman depending on which I finish first (probably).
they did hulk dirty ever since that fight in infinity war
Yeah, they really have.
They should have stuck with Edward Norton

What if Bruce Banner is a black person the 20th Hulk would be he's looks when he turned Hulk.
