I have an old iBook G4 lying around somewhere. Still works from last time I tried it, has Ubuntu installed on it. Only downside is the backspace key doesn't work for some reason, so I had to remap the Caps Lock key to act as a backspace lol
@@EvilTurkeySlices yeah if I start getting a use out of it I probably will. Not entirely what to use it for, I guess its a pretty low power consumption machine (I assume, haven't seen any numbers). Fairly comfortable keyboard too.
@@ElderSnake90 honestly it’s one of my favorite Macs, I really need to replace the hard drive in mine though(that task being the exact opposite of the keyboard)
Got my G4 Tower last year for FREE! Granted it then cost me £100 in accessories but it just worked and cleaned up beautifully. Slightly earlier spec (slower) but really not complaining
Put a new Pram battery in (off ebay) and pop that fan out and clean it, it should be a bit quieter then. I had one of these a few years ago, lovely bit of kit!
I think these were the coolest looking of all the Macs. Mac OSX is all I'd run on it, just for fun, and we both know I'm no Linux fan 😁 I'll be building a new PC next week (my first new build in 11 years) and I want to try to install OSX on the old one. It should run lickety split with a Core i7 4790 and 32 GB. I have lots of SATA drives to pick from.
I got one also sitting under dining table - Powermac G4 MDD - you could do some squats with it for exercise ha ha - also i have a 9800pro for it but it has some artifacting issues which is annoying as the card seems like new
Does it have macOS on it? You can tell by seeing if there is a system folder in the root of the drive. It will be called system folder and likely have a 9 logo. Either way, you can install macOS 9 on here
What a steal! This is one of the best G4s you can get. I was freelancing design with Adobe CS3 on this model in 2010 - never let me down!

Its insanely easy to replace the keyboard on an iBook G4, you should do that.

@@EvilTurkeySlices would an SSD be out of the question for these? I imagine would need an adapter
@ you either need an adapter or a native IDE SSD. I plan to put an SSD into mine, just so it doesn’t fail again.
thats some sweet oldschopl hardware sound
That was a good deal.

Q is just Qemu basically but for Mac OS X.
I have a mint Graphite version. It's awesome.
Never had one of these yes old pcs can be quite loud.
If this is the FW400 MDD Powermac, this (dual g4 1.25) is the fastest mac that runs classic macos as supported by apple.

@@juancarlosaguilarlopez9252 not sure where you are but people seem to sell them very cheap these days as the OS becomes outdated
Change that battery!
Agreed, they can explode. Saft versions of this battery are still made, I recommend those
wow
