I kinda teared up with the list scene in Onward. Elemental was more than just a rom-com - it's an immigrant story. I cried at the scene where Ember told the truth to her dad about what she really wants to be. It may not be for everyone but that doesn't mean these films wouldn't appeal to some people.

  • @benm5970
    @benm5970 Месяц назад +1

1: Turning Red (Just like Soul this movie deserved so much more than what it got, this is honestly 1 of my top 5 favorite Pixar movies, it had amazing characters with great chemistry, really pushed boundaries when it came to the kind of humor an animated movie can get away with and was just an absolute delight from beginning to end)
2: Soul (I so wish this movie had come out during a better time and got a theatrical release because it did not deserve to go directly to streaming, this movie was magnificent, it had loads of heart, incredible depth and really went in a super deep direction and deviated from the simple “Follow your dreams” type of moral that I thought I was gonna get)
3: Incredibles 2 (I wouldn’t have had this here originally but then I remembered how I oddly enough started seeing a huge backlash towards this movie in recent years, which I don’t get, it’s not as good as the first movie but I think it’s a pretty amazing follow up)
4: Monsters University (Again not one of Pixar’s highest achievements and nowhere near as good as it’s predecessor but I think it’s a solid outing and the ending, while not only unexpected I think has a really deep message)
5: Finding Dory (I don’t think it even comes close to living up to Finding Nemo but it’s a solid adventure with some good new characters, a perfect B tier Pixar movie)
6: Elemental (I don’t think it quite lived up to the potential it had but I think this is a very good movie with a nice story about the differences in how fortunate/unfortunate different families are and the butting heads that come from that)
7: Onward (Not one of my favorite movies by them by any means but I think it’s a fun adventure with a creative world and I absolutely love the ending and how profound it is)
8: Cars 2 (Yeah I said it, honestly for a movie that everyone regards as the bastard child of Pixar I don’t get the hate, to me it’s a fun enough movie and my personal favorite of the Cars movies, but maybe that’s just because I don’t think highly of 1 and 3 anyways)
By the way Coco is not underrated at all, most people regard that as a top tier Pixar movie

    Brave - 79%
    The Good Dinosaur - 75%
    Cars - 75%
    Lightyear - 74%
    Elemental 73%
    Cars 3 - 69%
    Cars 2 - 39%
That being said, for a studio to have 14 (FOURTEEN) movies over 95% and 19 movies over 90% is actually insane.
They average 88% in total over 27 movies. If we take out Cars 2 and 3 which I believable was made at the behest of Disney for Toys

I think some of the movies on this suffer from 2 probs: 1) unappealing animation/color (which evokes a feeling; blue is more enjoyable than red) and 2) blending together.
I never saw turning red, elemental, or inside 2 because frankly, i thought they were all about the same thing. Helping kids learn and talk about feelings.
My fave pixar movie, definitely not underrated, is finding nemo. Saw it when I was 13 and was amazed at the animation; the way they made the water look real. Wow. And I also identified with nemo as someone with a physical disability. And of course as a millennial, the 90’s ones will always be at top for me (toy story #1).

i’ve never met anyone who doesn’t like Coco and I don’t think I’ve ever met really any like Disney fan who hasn’t seen it. Personally, Coco is my favorite Pixar film. A lot of that is because the messaging and the way it deals with death is very much a kin to the way that I processed the death of one of my friends and it came out about a year after he passed so for me it’s very meaningful.
also, I hated turning red. I felt no connection to the narrative and the last thing I really wanted and needed was a Pixar film about menstruation. It just really didn’t resonate with me and I really didn’t like it.

@adrianalfred1277 All audiences and all the critics said they liked or loved Coco and still do. Coco from the very beginning has always been lauded as S tier Pixar, from out the gate. Never once could I find nor think of anyone who said that Coco wasn't good or great, ever- therefore, this couldn't, to me, be recognized as "not being appreciated." It disqualifies itself by that metric alone.
For example, fans and critics alike often refer to "Age of Ultron" as "not quite as good," generally speaking, relative to the original Avengers'praise. It had received and that Ultron was a step down from the first film, most did say, across the board, yes?
However, as more and more time goes on, there is a lot that was missed in Age of Ultron. More and more people realised this as time went on and have been stating this, looking back to that time. That a lot of fans really did not appreciate Age of Ultron at the time and recognized later it was much better than initially thought.
This sort of sentiment to me seems more in line with how something is, at first glance, underappreciated and overlooked and more accurate to being "underrated," later on.
Coco was always great and this was stated by practically everyone when it came out.
Coco can go toe-to-toe with Toy Story 3, 2, 1, Incredibles 1, Finding Nemo, Wall-E, UP, Inside Out, A Bugs Life, Monsters Inc 1, any day of the week!

@@afanofpeanuts7381you typed all of that but coco is still underrated. The generation that grew up on Pixar movies aren’t aware that coco exists and probably have never seen it. As kids Pixar movies were everywhere and it was inevitable that every child of that generation watched it. Coco did not have that same impact. It came out during a time where Pixar movies weren’t even a thing ppl were looking forward to. That doesn’t mean it’s bad but compared to coco it’s barely well known. Even myself. I’ve seen most Pixar movies growing up but just haven’t gotten around to watching coco and the newer ones cos they don’t hit the same. Coco is an anomaly in a sea of bad releases

Cars 3 over Coco?! I'm sorry but Cars 3 is my pick for the most overrated Pixar movie. It's just a bland imitation of the first movie that's only goal is to impress the haters of Cars 2 and nothing more. I barely even remember what happened in it. In no particular order
    Cars
    Onward
    Luca
Toy Story 4 (It gets a lot of hate)
    Monsters University

Monsters University is phenomenal, I think it's even better than Monsters Inc.

Ok hot take. I'd add toy story 2. We always talk about innovative the first was and how 3 broke us. But you never hear anything about two. Am I crazy

    The Incredibles
    Coco
    Ratatouille
    Brave
Toy Story 3 are my favorite Pixar movies but I feel like 3 out of the 5 ppl don’t talk about it

Incredibles is definitely not underrated at all. Everyone loves it. I'd say the 2nd one is underrated. Everyone thinks Toy Story 3 is the best of the franchise.

Maybe it's my Beatlejuice 2, but I thought Turning Red was the absolute worst movie Pixar has made. From the animation style to the dialogue, terrible. Luca however, that movie is underrated

I find that interesting how people are so different in the west when it comes media. My father my mother or people in John's generation who are born in ex yugo don't care at all about this stuff well in the west it's completely normal to be intrest in this stuff. I know it's out of topic but still.

Naw John the new Pixar movies aren’t doing it for me. Only soul is underrated. Every film you mentioned are just lesser Pixar movies from a studio equivalent to Spielberg. Mine underrated films are finding dory, incredible 2 and Walle

I'm not a big fan of the so called Pixar Films depending on title; the only dualogy I enjoyed are the Incredibles, Coco, Encanto, & Brave

Encanto is Walt Disney Animation, not Pixar.

Onward is the biggest waste of potential ever. Whoever wrote it/greenlit the script should be removed from society. Somehow in a world of magic, we get gross, ugly, modern day society. Huge waste of potential.
