Bringing Back a "Taste" of The Fair - Fair Food Drive-Thru 2020 Miami-Dade County Fair & Exposition

Fair Food Drive-Thru (and walk up) Experience at the Miami-Dade County Fair & Exposition in Miami, Florida. On opening day, March 12, 2020, the Miami-Dade County Fair (aka The Fair) was all set and ready to go. All rides were operational, foods were being cooked, exhibits and livestock were in place, and performers were warming up for their first shows. The threat / fear of coronavirus / COVID-19 was taking the US by storm. A few hours before opening the gates to the public, The Fair was officially shut down by city officials. The 2020 Miami-Dade County Fair was cancelled.
Now comes an interesting endeavor to bring back a "taste" of The Fair. Starting on Father's Day weekend (June 19-21), The Fair opened the Fair Food Drive-Thru with an optional Walk-Up section. Admission is free. You can drive through and pay for everything at once. All of your food orders will then be brought to your vehicle. You can also park and do the walk up experience. You are able to go to each vendor and dine at socially distanced tables that are constantly cleaned. A mask / face covering is required at all times except when dining at a table.
I went on the 2nd weekend (June 26-28). I tested the drive-thru area but did not order. You can expect a wait here if the lines are long. However, keep in mind that your one order can be comprised of items from each of the vendors. If you did the walk up, you would have to place separate orders and stand in line at each vendor.
I chose to do the walk-up experience which also included the Gyro food vendor which was not being offered for Drive-Thru.
For the 3rd weekend (July 3-5), ONLY the DRIVE-THRU will be operational. You will now be able to order from the Gyro vendor for drive-thru.

Technical Note: This video was shot mainly on the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G. I recorded in 4K 30fps with HDR10+ and then down-converted (in phone) to 1080p with SDR using HEVC compression. No gimbal - all hand held shots using its built in stabilization. I am quite impressed with the S20 Ultra to say the least!

Thank you for doing this! I am an employee at The Fair and it was hearbreaking for us to have to cancel this year. We all work so hard to put this on, but our health and safety comes first. It's great to see our loyal friends of The Fair and we hope to see you in 2021!
