Durston put a lot of thought into their new bench pin. The wood part is great. I expect more from them on the clamp its the same as a cheap Amazon clone. C clamps have a T shape profile to make them stiff they need to offer a upgraded clamp for a more steady feel. A standard C-clamp could be filed to fit the side mount groves to make it as solid as your benchmate. Beginners need solid with less experience they will break blades easier as they are not as experienced at sawing. A person could trim down 2 - 3 in C-clamps and put one from each side and skip the middle clamp and make it strong enough to take light pounding and any sawing you throw at it.
I spent so much time researching a nice peg that would fit my makeshift jewelers bench and now Durston goes out of their way to make this amazing piece of kit
Thanks for this video, I spent a lot of time researching
Thanks Andrew!
Thank you Mr B

Need a new one I like that !
A very nice tool
Nice review! Though, I miss the left audio-channel on the speech :-D
Thank you...I spent 3 minutes fidgeting with my headphones thinking it was me.
❤
This sort of clamp is extremely unstable, it moves when you push it with a bit of force. Shame Durston did not bother making more stable fix.
Is the G clamp durable?
Hi hero 👌🏻
hhhm I dont know about that thingy, the two prongs are holding on by just a sliver of wood probably makes it very springy, which doesnt seem ideal for filing and sawing as you want the piece to be *solidly* supported.
