What an incredible display of sportsmanship, skill, athleticism, game sense, and professionalism by both teams! Such a pleasure to watch such a lovely game!
We played this for p.e. before the pandemic stopped face to face classes. I hate team sports but man, I enjoyed this one so much. Please try this sport if you guys get the opportunity. You'll feel no regret.
I'd say it's a good mix of netball and grid iron. Aim is to get the Frisbee to the other side. Can't move more than a few steps after catching. Defending is non contact but doesn't have the stupid one metre rule like netball. And uhh yeah...
This is a perfect sport for coed... Things like strength which is the huge defining factor between men and women don't matter in this sport really... its all about routes, speed, and accuracy while throwing the disc
I'm going to put some of the most epic moments in my opinion: FIRST TIME: 11:29 12:06 12:23 INCREDIBLE PASS 15:32 very good pass the third USA point 18:00 the most epic receive 23:40 good touch 19:36 INCREDIBLE FLIP 24:00 incredile play with the fifth USA point
They said at about 26:00, it's a game to 13. If the clock gets to 80, blah blah. They were talking about a tie, rather than the leader wins. Not sure what happens if time is up.
Not sure what the rules were for this tournament, but there are two ways it's typically done: 1. Hard Cap. When the clock hits the hard cap time, finish this point, then game over. One more point if it's tied. 2. Soft Cap. When the clock hits the soft cap time, finish the point, then add 2 to the leading team's score and play to that (e.g. if it's 9-6 then play to 11).
No idea how I ended up here, but this looks so fun. I have a question though, why is it not called ultimate Frisbee? Is Frisbee actually a brand of flying disk and it's one of those things where the brand has become so synonymous with the product that everyone just calls it a Frisbee?
Yes, Frisbee is trademarked by Wham-O, one of the US companies that makes discs. Their discs are more commonly used for recreation, where the ones used in games like this one are probably made by Discraft. Ultimate discs have less of a lip around their edges than Frisbee discs and I believe (although I could be wrong here) that they are slightly lighter at exactly 175 grams.
So in an official co-ed game, is the number of women the same amount as the number of men on each team, and can men only cover men and women only cover women? I just don't know how it works
Well, ultimate is usually 7 on 7, as it is here, so unless you have 3 and a half women and the same number of men . . . No, they played 3 women 4 men. And the usually cover the same gender, but a guy can intercept a huck intended for a woman, for instance. In a confusing transition they might end up covering different gender.
That's a dubious assumption that NONE of the women can cover ANY of the men, but at this athletic level, you would expect that assumption to be close to true. These girls are amazing, but most of the guys are more so.
Sol's reply is incorrect. They play 3 women / 4 men for two points, and then 4 women / 3 men for two points. There is no rule requiring men to cover men or women to cover women, though it's common for this to happen so that each defender is covering someone they're equal to, athletically. The Australian team often played switching defence where each player just defended whoever was closest to them whatever their gender. Zone defences mean you defend an area rather than a player, so you might defend a man or a woman, depending on who is where.
It was half correct. 3/4 or 4/3. Whatever. And I didn't say there was a rule just that dudes usually cover dudes, but anyone can poach. Why do lead off with Sol's reply is incorrect. Okay, I accept the correction about 3 / 4 for two points and then switching to 4 /3 for two points. But that's kind of an elaboration. Your reply is incorrect.
One step stop from a full out run?? Knee injuries are already one of the most common injuries in the sport. The rule is to stop as fast as possible, around three-ish steps is usually the rule of thumb. Kind of more important from game advantage pov is that players are supposed to come to a stop in a straight line instead of getting to a better continuation position by altering their slow down path.
I've never seen this coed game. When I played in college, we had girls on the team, but they were just another player. This game seems to alternate by points between 7 women and 3 or 4. I don't think I've seen an all-male point. Must be by rule.
ohhh lord!!! this is so sad for the so much smaller Columbian Team! Trying so hard but always be to small to get the catch or make the good through. Seems here makes the body hight a big part of winning right. Its for sure like basketball where everyone trys to get the ball from its highest point and for me its nice to watch too :)
What an incredible display of sportsmanship, skill, athleticism, game sense, and professionalism by both teams! Such a pleasure to watch such a lovely game!

I just clicked in the video without seeing the title and end up watching my country Colombia play, and They have talent.

I'd say it's a good mix of netball and grid iron. Aim is to get the Frisbee to the other side. Can't move more than a few steps after catching. Defending is non contact but doesn't have the stupid one metre rule like netball. And uhh yeah...
Dallon Weekes it looks dorkie! 😂
You try too throw it to your teammates and throw it to a teammate in the endzone
1 you cannot move with the disc
2 you must throw the disc to your team mates in your endzone
I play competitive ultimate but the rules vary depending ur level from buiguiner to nation teams so it depends ur level 🙃
Great Game! Those cuts are stellar! This really helps out in learning about cuts for my High-School team (Go Force!)
Brenden McLemore I didn't have ultimate in highschool. It wasn't until I started college a few years ago when I started playing.
You play clash?
56:02 Great bid by Stubbs. Excellent play from both sides really.

Why doesn’t Ultimate frisbee have Reffs
friend: you can’t catch well.

So does the game end by score or time
Giancarlos stanton it's to points (usually 15) with a time cap.

Frisbee is an American name other countries play too
I know i play ultimate but other countries also call soccer football don't they

Apologies, I should have said "partially incorrect". It was only your reference to 3/4 that was incorrect. Everything else is fine.
i saw pjanic in USA Team??
Such a good game of ultimate
Maybe a newb comment but aren't they dragging too much? I'm counting way more than one step here 5:13

3 or 4 for each point.
You need to match 3g, 4b, or 3b, 4g.
