All the "10/10ths" talk from Cleveland carries over, except then Chassey shifts the topic to giving 110% (or 11/10 if you prefer). I remember Michigan always being a grueling event but I didn't remember it always being a math quiz. Now my head hurts.
This was a great win for Danny Sullivan especially since he wasn't feeling 100% that day. Also the first victory at the Michigan 500 for Roger Penske's team. A fun race to watch!
@@RealLoveMinistries718very underrated. His last win at Detroit in 1993 is on here and a very nice drive. I've always liked that his only F1 points were at Monaco
While he kind of gets lost among the other superstar Indycar drivers of his era (and, no, I'm not including the era of the legends that he and his contemporaries raced against for so many years), Danny Sullivan was one of the more underrated drivers, especially when it came to 500-mile races, because this win, which also set an IndyCar record at the time for being the fastest 500-mile race in IndyCar history, made him one of only two drivers to win all three of the 500-mile races that existed during his peak period (of course, there would be only two after 1989), with the other one being Rick Mears. Of his 17 career wins, four came in 500-mile races, this race, his "spin and win" victory in the 1985 Indianapolis 500, and two wins in the Pocono 500, including the final USAC/CART-era edition the following year (he also won that event in 1984).

I feel bad for him after 1987.
