The fact that he can nail this live says a lot!
Yes, stop gatekeeping! Cattle Decapitation is one of the most progressive, intelligent, really heavy metal bands out there. And they don't write such serious significant, important lyrics only for a limited audience. And yes its one of the best songs I've heard in any genre this year. Ignore the trolls Tauri or better yet show them the door, because that was an amazing reaction, even compared to your always excellent standards.

@@Jmartin68 what I meant was they write significant, intelligent lyrics to be heard, not for a limited audience of "worthy" metalheads. There's plenty of bands doing that already. They write thoughtful lyrics to be shared with as many people as possible

Dave Otero, their producer, has got them dialed in so tight. It's marvelous what they have done with their creativity.Makes the emotion come through even with the brutality.

Really hope you get enough requests for their song Death Atlas (gotta watch the mini movie the unerasable past to get the full effect) absolutely mind blowing. Any song from their album The Anthropocene Extinction is also a 10/10 albums, every second is incredible.

I had a similar but opposite experience in a way back in college. I was at an Avette Brothers show and this kid I went to high school with was like, "Wtf I thought you listened to like death metal."
