I read the fanfic version of The Love Hypothesis before it was published as an original novel, and I gave it a similar rating. I was just very disappointed in how much it felt like reading fanfiction with the names changed. One of things I enjoy about fanfic is that the writers can get right into the story because their audience come with the knowledge of the original content the story is based on, so they don't really need to do the heavy lifting of building up the characters realistically. I think that's why Olive and Adam fell so flat for me. Ali didn't take the effort to work on the characters when she turned it into an original novel, and so it pulled over that underdeveloped fanfic feeling. I wanted to love it since I really do want to root for fanfic authors transitioning into commercial careers, but I was disappointed.
Ah that’s too bad, thank you for sharing your perspective. I haven’t read much fanfic so I’m far from an expert (only some firefly stuff because the show ended far too soon 🥺)!
📚👍🏼 I’m reading “The Body Keeps the Score” at the suggestion of my therapist and in conjunction with where we’re currently at on our therapy journey. We were/are/always will traveling on this path, and it has been a difficult, sometimes painful, but ultimately enlightening read. I’d like to pass on to your audience (who may be considering this book) the same advice that was passed on to me by my therapist: depending on the traumas that someone possesses, there are many stories told very graphically that may be triggering. Please, please, please practice self care, respect the warnings our bodies give us, take the time to process, and give ourselves permission to put it down and put it away if it’s too much. It might not be right for someone right now, it might not be right for someone ever, and so while I respect it as a tool, everyone should approach it with their own unique situation in mind. All of that said, it has been incredibly helpful to me in understanding our trauma, and I do recommend it.
This is so important and it was very kind and thoughtful of you to take the time to share it ❤️ I have been overwhelmed by it a few times already and realized I could never read it in just a week or two like I’d planned. I’ve recommended it to family and friends who are healing from their own trauma with this same caveat. It’s not an easy read by any means ❤️
I DNFd The Love Hypothesis and ignored BookTok after that. The size descriptions were just too much for me and I couldn’t stomach it. But I did read Cloud Cuckoo Land last year and LOVED it. I had no idea it was a Book Tok darling!
I really loved this style of video! I loved the read along feel and the check ins. I also liked seeing reviews of super popular books that you see everywhere so I can decide if they are actually worth reading or not!
Sidenote: Your hair looked amazing in this video. I always enjoy your videos but your book reviews are always so interesting. Your in depth but also somehow vague reviews make me want to read them but don't spoil them. I haven't read any of these but your major issue with "the love hypothesis" resonates with me. I feel that many books perpetuate the message that men have to be bulky giants and that women have to be very very petite and short. 📚📖 As a shorter women I fit that particular "guideline" but I feel that society wants me to be unhealthily skinny. I am an average weight for my height of 5'4" but seeing tv, movies, literature, and other things makes me feel that I should be significantly smaller which would be unhealthy. I don't care what a character looks like unless it makes a significant difference to a story point.
Oh thank you! It was new for me not to have it in a messy bun every day because I had to film updates 😂 yeah, these unrealistic standards hurt everyone, even those who meet some or all of the criteria!
Loved getting that type of video from you, it was the perfect relaxing break I needed after struggling with a flare-up of chronic pain the past few days (because I’m on my period, and as if that’s not bad enough on its own, it always makes the chronic pain so much worse. Blergh.) I’m reading The Atlas Six currently and am loving it. I was hesitating about Cloud Cuckoo Land but the way you described it at the end of your review has sold me on it. Also, may I say that you have a very soothing voice and prosody? I love listening to your content because we share similar values and mindsets, and I appreciate the way you critique books, but your voice calms me down so much. ☺️
I love using the kindle/audible combo cause it actually highlights the words in sync with the audio. Of course it doesn’t always beat a physical book, but sometimes my brain needs that extra bit of help with focusing on the story 📚
I came here from your books read roundup halfway through the year and as someone who regularly reads nonfiction, I would love more conversation about how you annotate and take action from nonfiction!
I just finished We Were Liars last night and I’m so glad I found your video! I absolutely loved it! I found the writing style and fairytale chapters to be so enticing. I didn’t like the ending, but I almost didn’t care what was happening, as I enjoyed the way the author describes everything or nothing! I’m a sucker for summer beach settings. But, I totally understand your review and I’d agree if I didn’t feel such an attachment to the writing structure ☺️ love these types of videos on your channel!
I feel exactly the same. I read the book twice bc I really like it. But I could understand every point of criticism, I just didn't care about that much bc the writing style makes up 80% of why I like the book anyway.
I follow five Booktubers on a regular basis and not every book they recommend is for me. But it get easier picking a good book for me the more recommendations I read 🥰📚
When I traveled for work years ago, I paid attention to what people were reading to make my book choices. Appreciate your reviews. Very thorough and thoughtful.
Oh that’s a fun way to get ideas! I guess the prevalence of ebooks and audiobooks have made that harder over time, though. I’m so glad you find my reviews helpful! ❤️
One of my book clubs mentioned reading The Love Hypothesis (but we haven’t yet) and I’m glad to hear your review on it because I thought it leaned heavily towards it being Kylo Ren/Rey fanfic spun into something different, but knowing it’s more akin to Adam Driver/Rey or Adam Driver/Daisy Ridley does take me out a bit. I’m not a fan of real person fanfic, and RPF-adjacent stories.
I'm so relieved to hear you enjoyed Atlas Six!! I haven't read it yet, but I've seen the hype which made me apprehensive of what would otherwise be a book that's *really up my alley.* Getting a "can the hype be trusted" video from someone whose reviews I tend to agree with is so helpful.
Thank for the insights on The Body Keeps the Score. It's un my TBR pile awaiting summer. I teach and am too other focused during the school year for in depth self-care reading 📚
Your video solidified me getting the body keeps the score and I was unsure how to tab it but you gave me a good idea how to do that Thank you 😊😊😊 I’m excited to start reading
I really enjoyed The Love Hypothesis (though maybe it helps I went in with absolutely no background info about it?) but I had to walk away for a minute after the truck pushing. Like… Miss Hazelwood. Ma’am. I’m going to need you to calm down.
As I'm becoming more into books, I find this vlog very useful! Thank you so much, Elizabeth! For helping me explore different kind of books to read. Sometimes, I have no idea if I'm picking up a good book or not. I really appreciate this! Thank you! ~ waving from the Philippines. 📖📖📖💜💜✨
I love your videos and your recommendations. I read The Body Keeps the Score via audible and loved it. I knew I’d have to revisit all the info in it one day, so I bought the physical copy too. I’m not a YA fan and don’t really read romance, but I appreciate hearing what I’m not missing. I was so curious about Cloud Cuckoo Land and now I’ll be picking it up. Btw, your hair looks fantastic in each clip. 📚📖
Haha “I appreciate hearing what I’m not missing” if that’s not me watching reviews of books I would never read 😂 I hope you enjoy Cloud Cuckoo Land as much as I did! Edit: and thank you! I’ve been trying to be extra kind to my hair lately ❤️
as someone who would like to do more work with healing trauma, I can tell you, this book is SO amazing. However-I definitely need to read more books for fun!! Love watching reviews before I read a book
I loved this so much, you are by far my favourite person to get new book recommendations from! I’ve just finished reading the obelisk gate and I’m half way through the house of leaves! I adore you, please keep being you 🧡🧡
📚📚📚 I love your suggestions and have put a couple of holds on three of your recommendations 😄 Perhaps by then I'll be finished with the stack I already have by my bedside.
Thank you for the review! I've been thinking about picking up Cloud Cuckoo Land, and will check out that and Atlas Six. Question: where did you get the checked pants you're wearing in the first section of the video??
I kept taking screenshots of books people recommend that sounded interesting. I got to the point where I made a spreadsheet lol that way I can keep track of the titles, authors, who recommended it, genre, representation. There are over 100 lines so far Xd
I liked The Love Hypothesis but I wasn't even aware that it was originally fanfic, so maybe that's why. It was definitely a different style than I'm used to reading. I agree with you about the stereotypes in contemporary romance though. If felt the same way you did about We Were Liars. I listened to it on audiobook and wasn't impressed with it either for the same reasons you mentioned. I haven't read the other 3 books you mentioned but two were already on my list and now so is Cloud Cuckoo Land. I really look forward to reading that one. By the way, I've been meaning to tell you that I blame you for my TikTok obsession. :) I swore that I would never go on that app but then you mentioned your nails video last year and there I was! Actually, i'm glad I did go to the app. I've met some amazing people on there.
haha I'm sorry! But I'm glad you've found awesome people on there ❤ I'm still getting a feel for TikTok but I'm starting to find creators whose content I really enjoy over there! I try to only stay on the app for 10-15 minutes, though, because it's so easy to get pulled in forever 😂
The thoughtfulness of your videos and the work that goes into them impresses me every time (as a new subscriber). I end up bookmarking your videos for later reference! This is the first time I’ve seen one of your reviews for a non-fiction book, and I was thinking how much harder it will be to parse dense nonfiction vs something like a breezy romance. The number of tabs on “The Body Keeps the Score” comfirmed the difference. 😆 I appreciate how you handled the dilemma, deciding to take it slow even though it meant not finishing for the video. I tried reading that book a while ago and had to take a break because it was so intense. Also, you inspired me to pick up “Cloud Cuckoo Land.” 🙃 Thanks so much for the considerate and interesting reviews, Elizabeth! 📖📚🧠💖
Oh thank you 🥺 that’s so kind of you to say! I always take much longer to read nonfiction. I want to make sure I’m really understanding everything! With fiction it’s so much easier to just go with the flow ❤️
Yes Cloud Cuckoo Land! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ You’ve inspired me to pick up Atlas Six. I feel like I don’t actually see much about it, so it was good to hear you talk about it.
I feel like the hype died down eventually as new books have come out. I was suspicious because it got SO popular for a while but I was really pleasantly surprised by the quality of the writing!
I have to say my heart broke a little when you said that you didn't enjoy we were liars. I really loved it when I read. But also that has been quite a while back and maybe my expectations weren't as high back then. Also I just quickly wanted to mention how satisfying it was, that almost all your outfits in the video had the same colour. You just looked so stunning. I would be curios to see another one of these videos. I don't have tiktok (because I souldn't spend any more time with social media than I already do 😅). But I am curious to see what other book boktok recomends you. Sending a lot of love from Germany
Thank you! I wear a lot of green haha 😂 aw lots of people love it! I probably would have enjoyed it if I’d read it 5-10 years ago, but my taste is different these days and that’s ok! ❤️❤️
@@PlantBasedBride I love green too. Especially when my hair is dyed red. Yes I find that my book taste is changing as well. I used to really enjoy YA books (especially romance ones) but now I find most of them rather annoying because I’m just not that close to how a teenager thinks anymore. I have also been trying to read more non-fiction and just some classics.
i loved love hypothesis and completely agree with your criticisms about the book. Im delving into contemporary romance and all the main love interests so far could be the same person in different books! "towering body of a man with biceps on biceps". Why does everyone have such a distinct smell!?! I mean people do but not quite like ...pine and earth and citrus and mahogany.
I was so nervous to get to your review of Cloud Cuckoo Land, because I was so sure you'd love it and didn't want to be wrong! It's easily the best thing I've read this year, although a Richard Powers's Bewilderment is a close second (some similar themes). I thought CCL took a little too long to start intertwining the different stories, but it's possible that on a second read I would see connections that popped up earlier than I realized. Totally agree with your ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ rating, and so glad you enjoyed it!
Totally agree with you when it comes to not stressing yourself out to rush through a dense book like « The body keeps the score » (which was on my tbr before you mention it). Non fictional books such as this one are so full of interesting informations, you NEED to let your brain process them. I started reading « Pourquoi nous dormons » (I’m French, the VO probably is « Why we sleep ») and it’s very interesting, but very dense : as you say so, I intentionally told myself to not rush through it. It’s not a competition, it’s all about educating myself and again, I think you’re absolutely right to take your time to read « The body keeps the score ». Also, I watched the entire video so 📚 😊
Was really looking forward to another bookish video from you and wasn’t disappointed after watching it! I will add the Cloud Cuckoo Land to my tbr, it sounds interesting. Hope you will do a full review of it. Todays video seemed a bit different than the others you made, I liked it :) 📚
I was in my local Barnes and Noble today the store has a round table with just books that are on tiktok. The table could probably fit six people around it .
📚 I loved “All the Light We Cannot See” by Anthony Doerr but had somehow missed the memo about “Cloud Cuckoo Land”! Will defo be reading based on your recommendation 👍 I knew we had similar tastes in books when you talked about how much you love the Broken Earth series in another video. Thanks so much for your videos, I find them so relaxing after a hard day ❤
Thank you for your review of Cloud Cuckoo Land! I adored Anthony Doerr's book "All the Light We Cannot See" (which, side note - definitely add to your TBR if you haven't!) and was so excited about CCL...but have been struggling to get through it since January 😭This helps me reassess what I should expect from this and I'm ready to get through it! Also, have a like for Yoda scritches.
It's so interesting to see people talk about We Were Liars now. I read it years ago when I was in high school and it was still a new release. I don't remember anything except for how utterly shocked I was at the twist. I went out and bought a copy to give to my friend because I wanted her to experience it too. Funny to hear how it probably wouldn't hold up if I reread it now
I always listen to your book recommendations because we have similar taste! I started listening to audiobooks this year and would love to know which books you loved listening to! 📖
I'm saved from reading The Love Hypothesis! I have it on my TBR and I just added it to my library holds, but I really hate unrealistic beauty standards in romance novels. I didn't realize at first how bad it was for my self-esteem, but it seriously made me feel like only perfect model looking women find love with gorgeous men with the perfect hair. I just want to read romances with average looking people for once. Also, it's great for you to recognize that you needed time to digest The Body Keeps the Score. It's on my TBR but I've been holding off on it because I know it'll be hard to get through (but rewarding). Also, I'm just overloaded with self-help books currently. Cloud Cuckoo Land was already on my list, but I'll be looking forward to it more after your review. And I hadn't heard of The Atlas Six, so I have something new to add to the list! Never running out of books to read is a pretty great problem to have lol
Content warning for substance use, childhood trauma, and woo-woo beliefs. I started reading "the body keeps the score" in 2020, because lockdown led me to quit drinking, smoking (both usual plants for that one), sugar, and caffeine, and I needed something to help me process all the stuff I'd been numbing. I got as far as "imagine you're being chased/hunted" and put it down in favour of a dank bowl, a custard pastry, and a pack of cigarettes. (I've re-quit again since.) I haven't been brave enough to pick it up again and go back to the memory of being assaulted. I think picking up this book again might be what my tarot reader meant when she said "when you transmute this pain, you'll be free."
I now plan to read Cloud Cuckoo Land! I actually loved We Were Liars and talk it up to my students often. We are all eagerly awaiting the prequel, which delves into the life of the parents 🤓I just finished and would love to know your thoughts on Gideon the Ninth and Harrow the Ninth!
I loved this video conzept. A bit shorter than your regular bookvideos and with a theme that binds them together. :D I realize this is probably more work but I really enjoyed it and would love to see more of them every once in a while. (Not that the other bookvideos aren't also enjoyable. That's not what I meant! ^^;)
I read cloud cuckoo land when it first came out - I felt that it was a bit slow in the middle but I read the last 200 pages in one sitting and it is definitely in my top 5 books now. I love books that make me sit and THINK and reread sentences with amazing writing over and over that make me struggle to move on because I want to sit in a paragraph forever.
So…this was interesting! 😝 I don’t have TikTok so I don’t know which books are recommended there. But, The Atlas Six, and The body keeps the Score sound very interesting and I have added them to my TBR list. Cloud Cuckoo was already on my list, as I have read All the light we cannot See by the same author and LOVED it 😍😍😍😍😍 thanks for the video, Elizabeth. I really enjoyed it! 📚📖
It was lovely ❤ I listened to the audiobook for a few chapters here and there so I could keep reading while showering and brushing my teeth (I couldn't put it down!) and I thought the audiobook was really well narrated. I think it will depend on how you prefer to consume stories, especially ones that are more complex/have more POV characters and timelines!
Book tok made me read Sarah j maas and I must say it isn't something I normally read but I loved it. Right now my favorites books hands down would be diana garbaldon- outlander series. Im obsessed
📚 thank you for your review... I'm starting to love your book reviews, after my first video I was a little intimitated by it...😅 I love to read!! However, I want to diversify my type of books I am reading! I will definitely read the atlas six and the cloud cookoo land ❤😊 although my TBR list is massiv 😂 cheers, Kathi
I really need to get on The Atlas Six! I just have such a list of dark academia books on my TBR list to get through first! But lol, I completely understand the reaction to We Were Liars even though I gave it 5 stars 😂 I read in summer 2015 when the initial hype was still going, but I had recently lost my mother and I was on a family vacation with all my cousins, so I was in the PRIME position to be destroyed by it. I will say, I didn't like the main character and I was furious with myself for not anticipating the twist, but it was the right book at the right moment for me. I kind of want to reread it, but it might be best if I just leave it.
Oo what other dark academia books are on your list?? I want to do a video in this style full of dark academia reads 🙌 that makes sense (and I’m sorry for your loss ❤️) - sometimes it’s nice to remember the way we enjoyed a book in the past without rereading it and subjecting it to our (usually) higher expectations ❤️❤️
Question: Do you leave the tabs in forever or do you remove them eventually? I just removed some tabs before I let someone borrow a book because I wanted them to start with a clean slate for their reading but it was kind of painful for me haha😆
I DNFd the love hypothesis because of the subject that Olive researches. I don’t think it’s is a spoiler but it is a huge trigger for me, Olives research is about finding a cure for cancer and especially pancreatic cancer and because my father passed away from this I just couldn’t keep on reading
Omg I had the same thoughts after reading We Were Liars! So many people recommended that I read it and said they loved it and it was a tear jerker. I was annoyed from the beginning with the flowery diction and metaphors. The plot twist surprised me as well, but I did not cry even one tear. It was very underwhelming.
📕Thanks for your reviews! I came across your channel about week ago and have been enjoying it very much. Have you ever read Ken Liu’s the Paper Menagerie and Other Stories? My recommendation for you📚
If you have not yet read A Constellation of Vital Phenomenon by Doerr yet, I highly recommend it. I find myself thinking about it weekly years after reading it and really thinking abut it almost constantly since the war in Ukraine began.
Have you read any of Anthony Doerr's other books? My freshman year of college our summer reading book that they sent to all new students was All the Light We Cannot See which I absolutely adored!
The body keeps the score has been on my TBR for a while now and I'm definitely adding Cloud Cuckoo Land to the list as well. I definitely value your recommendations, also intrigued by Atlas Six. Thank you so much for this video 📚
I feel like We Were Liars is overhyped as well. I read it years ago and am baffled by all the hype it gets today online. I have heard very mixed reviews about Atlas Six but your review has me very intrigued...
I haven’t heard too much negativity about The Atlas Six other than it being so hyped it ended up being a bit disappointing! Now I’m curious and off to read 1 and 2 star reviews 👀
I'm finding I usually don't vibe with booktok books. Especially romance / fantasy (I don't like high fantasy Elf falls for a human, bc of the power imbalance aspect you mentioned...) Some nonfiction books are really good but I'm really cautious with fiction now
I know she doesn't read a lot of romantic books but the few she has read I have tried too and also very much enjoyed. So, when she finds the romance book not great (or downright bad) I also tend to not read it. Jack Edwards did a video of reading romance books and he also mentioned the same thing about the bodies of the people in the books and how it's damaging to read that over and over again.
Oh I saw that Jack Edwards posted a video about reading romance but I haven’t watched it yet since I’m not the biggest romance reader. I might check it out now to hear his take on the body standards issue!
📚 definitely going to add some of these to my TBR. I would love to know your thoughts on the Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo if you have read it. I read it because of BookTok and had so many thoughts afterwards.
I really enjoyed it! I read it way back in early 2021 I believe. I can’t remember which video I reviewed it in but my review is on goodreads if you want my full thoughts!
📖I had recently read "We Were Liars" and was kind of disappointed due to the hype. The writing style was confusing to me and some parts were really draggy and boring and others were too fast. I loved the plot twist tho, it destroyed me after I thought back about some kind of foreshadowing in the beginning and it clicked. I rated it 3 stars, the plot twist saved the book to be honest.
I agree with needing better representation of both male and female characters in the romance genre. My husband is 6'10 and I'm 5'3 but I understand that my husband's height is incredibly out of the norm and at times he honestly hates it (can't by clothes/shoes off the rack at stores, always getting stared at in public, etc.) so I don't think romanticizing it without adding the downside of being very tall is something that works well. This combination of characters gets so old so fast. I'm also not frail and tiny lol. We need stronger (physically) women in novels.
So true! I have tall family on both sides and my uncle, while not as tall as your husband, has had so many issues related to his height in his life. He’s around 6’5”. I’ve always enjoyed being a tall woman, myself, and I’d love more female characters to be tall, physically strong, or both!
Adam Driver is actually like 6’4 from what I remember so as weird as the size difference trope is it actually fits in that scenario, also the truck pushing could have been him using the force, but the fact it’s an AU makes that so hilarious to me that she left that part in
Hello from British Columbia Canada 🇨🇦👍👋♥️🌃📖 I agree with you regarding "the love hypothesis" don't think I will bother reading another ali hazelwood, way overhyped🤭..only one I read because I saw it being gushed over multiple times 🤔

Talking about popular TikTok books or this style of video in general? I’m open to both 🥰
I read the fanfic version of The Love Hypothesis before it was published as an original novel, and I gave it a similar rating. Ah that’s too bad, thank you for sharing your perspective. I haven’t read much fanfic so I’m far from an expert (only some firefly stuff because the show ended far too soon 🥺)!

"I will literally cry when I look at my cat because their face is so cute" LOL ME!!!!
Haha I’m glad it’s not just me 😭❤️
I DNFd The Love Hypothesis and ignored BookTok after that. The size descriptions were just too much for me and I couldn’t stomach it. But I did read Cloud Cuckoo Land last year and LOVED it. I had no idea it was a Book Tok darling!
Yeah, it was a lot 👀 Not quite as viral as some other books but I’ve seen Cloud Cuckoo Land pretty regularly on my FYP for a while now!
Loved the vlog style of this video!! I'm sure it was harder to film/edit but it was beautifully done!! Thank you Elizabeth💖
Aw thank you! It was quite the project haha but I had fun making it. I think I’ll try this format again ❤️
I really loved this style of video! I loved the read along feel and the check ins. I also liked seeing reviews of super popular books that you see everywhere so I can decide if they are actually worth reading or not!
Thank you so much! It was fun to structure the video this way ❤️ I think I’ll do it again!
The way you talk/review books is always so nice. 📚
Thank you 🥰
Thank you for the thoughtful reviews of these books. I have added some of them to my reading list. 📘📚
Oo nice, I hope you enjoy them!
Sidenote: Your hair looked amazing in this video.
I always enjoy your videos but your book reviews are always so interesting. Your in depth but also somehow vague reviews make me want to read them but don't spoil them. I appreciate videos like this because I rarely DNF books, so I’d rather read a book knowing I will enjoy it or not.
I love using the kindle/audible combo cause it actually highlights the words in sync with the audio. Of course it doesn’t always beat a physical book, but sometimes my brain needs that extra bit of help with focusing on the story 📚

I shared how I annotate fiction and nonfiction over on TikTok and Instagram a few days ago!
@@PlantBasedBride Sweet! Will check it out. ❤️
I follow five Booktubers on a regular basis and not every book they recommend is for me. But it get easier picking a good book for me the more recommendations I read 🥰📚
There are always those outliers for sure! I feel the same way. The more you read the more you’re able to figure out what you’ll like! ❤️
Loved the video!! Completly off topic, but loved your outfits!!
Oh thank you! 🥰
Another relaxing and calming video. I love how you can intellectually engage and entertain while keeping your videos relaxed and sensory safe.❤
Oh this comment made my morning! Thank you so much 🥺 I’m very glad my videos manage to be both engaging and calming for you ❤️❤️
When I traveled for work years ago, I paid attention to what people were reading to make my book choices.
I’m not a fan of real person fanfic, and RPF-adjacent stories.
your voice is so nice to listen to omg
I’m actually reading Atlas Six right now and am really enjoying it.
I’m so happy to help! I felt the same way. It seemed so up my alley but I was suspicious because of the hype 😂
Thank for the insights on The Body Keeps the Score. It's un my TBR pile awaiting summer. I teach and am too other focused during the school year for in depth self-care reading 📚
I was sobbing at the end of Cloud Cuckoo Land. Doerr is such a talented writer....each story was so well done. One of the few books I will reread.
Your video solidified me getting the body keeps the score and I was unsure how to tab it but you gave me a good idea how to do that
Thank you 😊😊😊 I’m excited to start reading
I really enjoyed The Love Hypothesis (though maybe it helps I went in with absolutely no background info about it?) but I had to walk away for a minute after the truck pushing. Like… Miss Hazelwood. Ma’am. I’m going to need you to calm down.
Lol yeah it was a bit much 😂
As I'm becoming more into books, I find this vlog very useful!
The Body Keeps the score was an incredible read. I was taken aback at how helpful it was on a personal subconscious level.
I’m already feeling a mindset shift from the first half! I can’t wait to finish it ❤️
as someone who would like to do more work with healing trauma, I can tell you, this book is SO amazing. However-I definitely need to read more books for fun!! Love watching reviews before I read a book
📚 Great reviews! I saw a couple I might pick up. 😊
thank you so much for making this video. tiktok peeked my interest just enough on these books and now I know if they’re worth the time or not 💅🏻
You are so welcome! 🥰
📚Loved this content! Thank you for being you 🦋
Aw thank you 🥺❤️❤️
Where do you get your sweaters from?? you always look so comfy and cozy, very aesthetically "readerly" lol
I loved this so much, you are by far my favourite person to get new book recommendations from! I’ve just finished reading the obelisk gate and I’m half way through the house of leaves! I adore you, please keep being you 🧡🧡
Aw thank you! I’m so glad you enjoy my recommendations 🥰
I went here after watching the '63 books, one sentence' video!
Also, u need to do more of thesee
📚📚📚 I love your suggestions and have put a couple of holds on three of your recommendations 😄 Perhaps by then I'll be finished with the stack I already have by my bedside.
Thank you for the review! I've been thinking about picking up Cloud Cuckoo Land, and will check out that and Atlas Six. Question: where did you get the checked pants you're wearing in the first section of the video??
They’re vintage! I bought them from a secondhand shop ❤️
Cloud Cuckoo Land was one of my favorite books of the year so far. I’m glad you enjoyed it also.
It was just beautiful ❤️
Also, you inspired me to pick up “Cloud Cuckoo Land.” 🙃
Thanks so much for the considerate and interesting reviews, Elizabeth!
Aw haha nothing to worry about here! Oo I’ll have to check out that other book then 👀
This was so interesting to hear your perspective on these books! I just placed a hold for The Atlas Six 📚 I enjoy all of your “bookTube” videos!
I’m so glad you enjoyed it! I hope you like The Atlas Six as much as I did ❤️
Totally agree with you when it comes to not stressing yourself out to rush through a dense book like « The body keeps the score » (which was on my tbr before you mention it).
Also, I watched the entire video so 📚 😊
Oh that one’s on my TBR as well! Et merci ❤️❤️❤️
Was really looking forward to another bookish video from you and wasn’t disappointed after watching it! I will add the Cloud Cuckoo Land to my tbr, it sounds interesting. Hope you will do a full review of it.
Todays video seemed a bit different than the others you made, I liked it :) 📚
Aw thanks! I tried something new ❤️I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! I’ll write a goodreads review eventually but I’m so behind 😅
📖Just love your book reviews!
I was in my local Barnes and Noble today the store has a round table with just books that are on tiktok. The table could probably fit six people around it .
I love your take on all the books and am excited to pick up a few new ones📚
I hope you enjoy them!!
Loved this video! Going to give The Atlas Six a read 📖☺️
I hope you enjoy it!
Thank you for the new recommendations! I can’t wait to read them! I love following you on Goodreads! 📚
Thank you! I hope you enjoy them ❤️
It's so interesting to see people talk about We Were Liars now. I read it years ago when I was in high school and it was still a new release. I don't remember anything except for how utterly shocked I was at the twist. I went out and bought a copy to give to my friend because I wanted her to experience it too. Funny to hear how it probably wouldn't hold up if I reread it now
A lot of people seem to love it so you might still enjoy it! I was definitely shocked by the twist but it just wasn’t enough for me, sadly.
Will start on "The Atlas Six"! 📚 Sounds like my kind of story! Thanks for the recommendations! 🐈⬛
I always listen to your book recommendations because we have similar taste! I started listening to audiobooks this year and would love to know which books you loved listening to! 📖
I only listened to the audiobook of the body keeps the score and some chapters of cloud cuckoo land but they’re both good!
Haha it’s definitely a good problem to have! I’m glad I could save you from a read that wouldn’t serve you 🤎
I’ve been considering reading a couple of these books so thank you for these reviews! 📚
Oh I hope I helped you make your decision! ❤️
@@PlantBasedBride You did! I'm definitely going to read the Atlas Six now!
I was only interested in The Atlas Six, and I am so glad you liked it! Now, I feel safe to buy and read this book 😁.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! ❤️❤️
📚 great insights!
📚 love the video!!
i know this video is from 6 months ago but i just wanted to say i really love this video series!
Aw thank you! I have plans to do more but moving really messed up my reading and my video production schedule 😅❤️
I loved this video conzept. A bit shorter than your regular bookvideos and with a theme that binds them together. :D I realize this is probably more work but I really enjoyed it and would love to see more of them every once in a while. (Not that the other bookvideos aren't also enjoyable. That's not what I meant! ^^;)
It was definitely a lot of work but I enjoyed it! I plan on doing more using this format ❤️
I just ordered The Atlas Six. Really excited to read it and I may have to get the Cloud book too 📕
Oo I hope you like it 🥰
I read cloud cuckoo land when it first came out - I felt that it was a bit slow in the middle but I read the last 200 pages in one sitting and it is definitely in my top 5 books now. I love books that make me sit and THINK and reread sentences with amazing writing over and over that make me struggle to move on because I want to sit in a paragraph forever.
Oh yes, your last sentence!! I feel the same way ❤️
So…this was interesting! 📚📖
I need to read more of Doer’s work! I was really impressed by Cloud Cuckoo Land. I hope you enjoy TAS and TBKTS if you pick them up! ❤️❤️
📚 I think Cloud Cuckoo Land will be joining my TBR. It sounds delightful. I’m just wondering if print or audio would be better.
Im obsessed
I was on the fence about the atlas six but I think I will pick it up and the body score.
I hope you enjoy them!
Haha I can relate to a massive TBR! I hope you enjoy them ❤️❤️
I know nothing about TikTok, but I liked The Love Hypothesis. I didn’t know it was fanfic or that he was based on Adam Driver.
I totally listen to the audio version of nonfiction as I read it myself.
It’s honestly SO helpful!
I want to read Cloud Cuckoo Land now that I’ve watched your video. It sounds like my kind of book. 📚
I hope you love it! ❤️
@@PlantBasedBride thanks!
Question: Do you leave the tabs in forever or do you remove them eventually? I just removed some tabs before I let someone borrow a book because I wanted them to start with a clean slate for their reading but it was kind of painful for me haha😆
Usually I leave them for future reads! I only take them out if I’m not keeping the book (donating to my local library) ❤️
Yeah… I can see how people could like it but it just wasn’t for me!
I love Audible!!
Same!
Have you read any of Anthony Doerr's other books? My freshman year of college our summer reading book that they sent to all new students was All the Light We Cannot See which I absolutely adored!
I haven’t! I definitely plan to now since I loved Cloud Cuckoo Land so much ❤️
The body keeps the score has been on my TBR for a while now and I'm definitely adding Cloud Cuckoo Land to the list as well. I definitely value your recommendations, also intrigued by Atlas Six. Thank you so much for this video 📚
Aw thank you! I hope you enjoy them ❤️❤️
I feel like We Were Liars is overhyped as well.
Especially romance / fantasy (I don't like high fantasy Elf falls for a human, bc of the power imbalance aspect you mentioned...)
Some nonfiction books are really good but I'm really cautious with fiction now
I know she doesn't read a lot of romantic books but the few she has read I have tried too and also very much enjoyed.
As a reader/writer of fanfiction, part of me is torn in the publishing of said fanfiction as an original novel tbh.
I agree the plot twist was the only redeeming factor! I just didn’t care enough by that point for the twist to save it for me haha
Adam Driver is actually like 6’4 from what I remember so as weird as the size difference trope is it actually fits in that scenario, also the truck pushing could have been him using the force, but the fact it’s an AU makes that so hilarious to me that she left that part in
LOL I didn’t even think of the force 😭 that’s too funny
📚thank you
Try reading the library of the unwritten! Its about books that were never finished by the author.
Oh interesting! I’ll check it out ❤️
Hello from British Columbia Canada
🇨🇦👍👋♥️🌃📖 I agree with you regarding "the love hypothesis" don't think I will bother reading another ali hazelwood, way overhyped🤭..only one I read because I saw it being gushed over multiple times 🤔
