  • the 2024 Bentonville bike fest WAS going pretty smooth. that is until 2am Sunday morning when severe storms and tornados rolled through. Bentonville got hit pretty hard, and plenty of evidence to show for it. the last day got cancelled and Andy and I got sort of trapped in our Airbnb in Bella Vista. we managed to get out on our bikes (floods were keeping the car from crossing the only bridge) and explore the area a bit. we were low on food so that was our big mission.
this is mostly just a shitty blog because o didn't really have any intentions of filming over the weekend. tried to make it as entertaining as possible given the circumstances.

Bike Festival Planners: Hey we’re having a bike festival… Ace Bike Media…please don’t show up! 😂

For the safety of all future events and it's participants, we are excluding ourselves from everything. 😂

We were there at the end of April when tornadoes came through Tulsa and bad storms hit us in Bentonville. My wife and I had been talking if one had ever hit Bentonville. It's wild a month later that it hit the area so badly on such a busy weekend there.

That is pretty crazy. I mean it definitely didn't seem out of the realm of possibility that a tornado would hit there but the fact that it was bike fest weekend and so many people and brands were there, mind blowing. No pun

Definitely the e-bike capital of the world. We stayed in Bella Vista as well last August. I'm still thinking about that heat wave when I was there.

Arkansas riding in August sounds rough. Yeesh. Yea even in May, mid day was hot. I'll probably save future trips for late fall, early spring.

I ride that peach orchard intersection @12:13 on my road bike every week. It would be annoying to ride that hill up on a mtb.

Beautiful place. But the weather can be rough. Crazy summer heat, winter ice storms, tornados, giant bugs... it's definitely not the paradise they try to sell it as...

It has its benefits but it definitely doesn't come without penalty.
