got this model with student discount (Sound Engineering) and its so smooth coming from my late 2013 iMac , finally i can use Logic Pro's latest AI features which are a timesaver for what I do.
Good replacement for 80-90k windows pc and if you don't play games. I have used macbook pro m1 max with 32 gb ram. The performance was bad compared to my 1.50L PC. The macbook was priced at 3L so at half price better performance.

Well we already use Macbook Air M1, with xcode and android studio (flutter dev) running side by side with both the Emulator Android and iOS, we found no issue, the emulators launched buttery smooth, we recently brought Macbook Air M3 machine which is insane. For any kind of coding and machine learning this is a beast.
looking at the config, i dont think it is going to be an issue.. the only problem is it is a small block of desktop without screen and is best if you have people or teams dedicated to a workspace with dedicated monitors.. many students are jumping on this as it is best for lot of stuff for learners and research!

So when he said from next year maybe, he meant maybe that they start giving 512 gb ssd in base variants itself without needing to pay extra for upgraded storage just like they started giving out 16 gb ram instead of 8 gb starting this year.
I have M2 Mac mini so won't be upgrading anytime soon but do note 256 GB is definitely not enough if you're working with videos. The render files from iMovie (I don't have FCP) for a 13 min video takes up over 70 GB alone.
But the crazy thing was despite I was getting storage full warnings, the Mac didn't slow down or crash. If it was a Windows machine it sure had popped up blue screen of death which proves no matter how good hardware you have for the best experience you need an optimized software which is impossible in the Windows world with so many OEMs and devices

Unless you work with videos I don't think you need to worry. But it's 2024 and if you plan on to use the device for at least the next 5 years 256 GB will definitely feel less

There is a reason for the power button and mouse charging port, they put the power button down is because they dont want you to switch off frequently but they want you to keep it on sleep, usually no one switch off pc completely, and next mouse, they dont want you to use the mouse while charging, also use it as a wired mouse, thats why they put the charging port down so u cannot use the mouse while charging or cannot use it as a wired mouse.
