  • Let's put together a fairly simple but incredibly useful board, a kickstart adapter + relocator for the Amiga 1000. This provides a slight relocation of the 68000 CPU, allowing for the installation of accelerator cards meant for the 500 or 2000, but also provides the option of an onboard Kickstart ROM or two, so you no longer need the Kickstart floppy. In this case, there's one installed, but you can add a second on a switch. The installation requires some modification to a stock Amiga 1000, but it's doable with the same skills required to build the adapter itself.
The board was designed by EzdineG, and build instructions are at www.amigalove..... They can be manufactured through PCBWay or other building houses. They occasionally come up for sale on eBay or other Amiga sale forums.
I definitely recommend clipping the pin on U6J unless your desoldering equipment is really good. Mine was slightly clogged up, but even so, there's a lot of heat being absorbed and it's a bear to remove.
