Range Testing My DIY Lead Acid Powered Electric Skateboard

  • It's time for a range test of my DIY electric skateboard! Since my eskate is using lead acid batteries (SLA AGM) and not lithium, I didn't know how the board would perform once it gets down into the lower voltage curve. Will my electric skateboard retain enough power to fully drain the battery? Will I slow down more and more the further I go? The results were more or less what I expected, but not as much as I hoped. Still, this was a fun, cheap and inexpensive DIY build; and gave me a chance to show what a lead acid powered eskate is capable of!

    I can hear the pain as it fights to get you up the hill.
    I'm impressed that a lead battery with the 1 motor performs so well. I think with another motor and battery added it would be a serious beast.

      I don't think the issue was the motor, I think it was the batteries. They can't pump out juice like a li-ion battery can. I think it was already bottlenecked by the battery output

    Interesting stuff. It would be great if you could test it against a lithium battery on the same board.
