It's just paint. Find a small, kinda junky piece of furniture someone is throwing out and get a few of your favorite colors and some decent brushes. You can get inexpensive supplies from Walmart your 1st few times, so you're not intimidated or stressed about wasting money. Then, take a deep breath, find a video to follow along with, if you drink, have a glass of wine, and allow your inner child to come out and play!!! What's the worst that can happen? Worst, it goes back to the trash or just keep adding to it. At least you tried, had some fun and might be pleasantly surprised! On the other hand, you might actually be impressed by the artist inside of you who simply needed a little guidance! This is the perfect channel for amazing guidance and technique. Just remember it doesn't start out looking great. Keep adding layers of colors and waxes until it comes to life. There's an artist inside each of us waiting to come out and play with colors ... Have fun!

The entire video feels like a reminder to just go for it because the more you keep going with your project you find that eventually it all comes together on it's own. What a well done tutorial! It's uncommon to be sure. Perfect balance of face time, demo, and voice-over hints. Engaging throughout and not boring, even for the length of the video. And a shout out to your makeup too. I'm a chalk paint novice. Never used it, but I love what can be done with it. Hi April! Glad it was helpful! I think you should give it a try even if you buy small chalk paint amounts to start with on a small project to get a feel how the paint moves. Sometimes you have a color scheme in your head and then it does not work out. The furniture always speaks to you! If your color doesn’t work at least you have a base coat lol. 🙏🎨

One thing I haven’t grasped is to know which woods may bleed through and which woods you can just go ahead and start painting on without out extra attention at the start. As for your question its a very good one!! From time to time I do deal with bleed through as well that is tricky! I find that with very old pieces of furniture that have a varnish finish that is the dark reddish/yellow tone tends to bleed through so I just primer the piece. It was such a beautiful piece and wanted to make more personal with the colour tones I did. This technique can be applied with many neutral tones and achieve beautiful stone effects with the simplicity of chalk paints 👌🎨

Hi Nikki! You should have been here when I told my hubby! He always balks my choices and then when I am finished he loves them!!! Sometimes you have a color scheme in your head and then it does not work out. The furniture always speaks to you! If your color doesn’t work at least you have a base coat lol. 🙏🎨

I was a beginner and I remember trying to find somewhere to locate the information and understanding on how to use chalk paint that I would see al the time. I would find little bits here and there so I am building a channel that gives limitless ideas and inspiration so if anyone is looking to create a style or finish they can tune in here! There are so many tools and techniques to create beautiful decorative finishes and I want to make this channel a place to create just that 😉🎨

Hi I’m so new to this,I’m glad I found your channel. Your are very easy to understand I am greatfull for your in depth details they are very helpful. One thing I haven’t grasped is to know which woods may bleed through and which woods you can just go ahead and start painting on without out extra attention at the start. As for your question its a very good one!! From time to time I do deal with bleed through as well that is tricky! I find that with very old pieces of furniture that have a varnish finish that is the dark reddish/yellow tone tends to bleed through so I just primer the piece. I will in the future make a video on this topic in more detail. Thanks for watching!! 🎨❤️🙏
