I’m 77, many years ago i started with degenerating discs (runs in my family) and over the years I have found dresses don’t put pressure anywhere I don’t want it! I like both the femininity and the ease of dressing! I too wear them in the winter with a slip, a sweater and either stockings or leggings and boots.
Great informative video for anyone interested in dresses for winter. I love wearing dresses year round. I found it really easy to transition to winter, with leggings and sweaters. Thanks for sharing.
I’ve been waiting for this video! Thank you Hillary! I’m not very good at layering. I have to learn now in this colder climate! It really is an art to layer and to make it look well put together & not frumpy! Thank you for sharing ❤
What a wonderful presentation on functional fashion! Thank you for sharing your personal evolution of style and this thought filled and inspiring winter fashion educational. I love . . . how you love and find joy in styling your busy lifestyle “pretty”. You are a gift to this community by your passion for bringing “Old World”, old school back to our present day.
I appreciate your ideas for a feminine wardrobe with dresses and layers. You always look put together and beautiful! I also wanted to tell you that you do a great job editing your videos too! Chefs kiss! Have a great day! ❤
Would really enjoy seeing how you style jeans when you wear them. What you pair them with. on what occasion you wear them and what style, brand of jeans you like.
I shared a video a couple years ago around this time that showed some of my pant outfits, and I still have a lot of the same pieces! :) ruclips.net/video/eMGkbaJxQXs/видео.html
And they look so lovely on you. I'm considering buying the one you recently bought. I love the silhouette and colors. It's been neat seeing you curate your dress wardrobe over the years.
Thank you Hilary!!! I always look forward to seeing your videos on dresses!! One of my favorites!!! I agree with you completely- dress are beautiful and comfortable!! Please continue to share all the beautiful pieces you find and thank you for all the tips!! I’m from Long Island NY and it’s been freezing here!! Definitely been layering under my dresses!!!
If you’re willing I’d love to see an up close, in depth look at your current winter wardrobe. Old school capsule wardrobe style with reviews & outfits. But I realize that is a LOT of work. Perhaps a combo OOTW video? They’re just my favorite & I always leave with shopping or styling inspiration. Plus, I’ve learned so much about fabrics & things to consider when purchasing items that I never considered before. Idk if it’s maturing or just experience. I never looked at tags before & I remember metaphorically rolling my eyes as a kid when my mom would check tags. I swear I heard, “100% cotton” so much I just assumed all clothes were cotton 😂 PS did I hear you say the green dress you’re wearing is sleeveless? It never would have crossed my mind to keep a sleeveless dress out for winter! Yesterday I also saw a video of someone wearing a turtleneck under a sleeveless dress & I loved it. I LOVE the jumper look, but now I know you can get the look without a separate jumper/t. She even paired it with a slip that lengthened the dress & added warmth. So simple, yet something that I never would have considered.
I thank you so much for this video Hilary. I always tend to wear my dresses in the spring and summer, but not in the winter because of the cold. I really appreciate your sharing of how you layer your dresses for warmth. It has given me such inspiration now to give it a try. I always feel more feminine and put together with a dress on, so I thank you again for sharing your tips and helpful hints. I'm definitely going to be buying those tights!
Hillary, thank you for your videos. January and Winter time are just hard for me as well at times. Having your videos to look forward to during this time has been a lifesaver. I normally just watch previous videos that are my favs to get me through. I hope this becomes a new tradition in years to come. 😊
That sweater vest is beautiful, I love all the details! Thank you for this video, Hilary. It’s helpful to hear your take on wearing dresses all winter with your years of experience. So far, like you, it has really come down to layering but completely possible. I’m still able to enjoy feeling pulled together and most like myself in these colder months🌹
You always look lovely, and I love dresses and skirts. I just moved from south Florida, where I’ve lived my entire life, to very cold northern Ohio, so I’m learning how to dress in the winter and it’s a challenge, but kind of fun. So this has been a very helpful video. I’ve followed you since you began and little did I know back then that this kind of informative and fun video would be for me lol. Thanks Hilary👍🏻👍🏻💗
Came over from Nikki's channel. 😊 I enjoyed your video, my style is closer to yours than hers. I don't live in a super cold climate but I'm a naturally cold person so layers are very important to me, too! I started wearing mostly dresses over the summer as a personal experiment (before I found Nikki's channel) and I realized I really love it. I do still wear pants occasionally, especially on a bad weather day around the house. I homeschool my 6 children, so life is very busy and it's amazed me how much better I feel and how productive I can be when I look a little nicer.
I wear dresses year round here in Ohio and love them! I’ve really fallen in love with sweater dresses this winter and have been slowly trying to incorporate merino wool or cotton ones into my wardrobe!
Hi Hillary! This is a great video, I wanted to ask you is there a tag on the side of the sleeveless top that is white & has buttons down it. If so I found out from a blind youtuber that this tag should be on the left side & this is how you know which is front & back. I have gotten so many clothes from Amazon like this & never new until she pointed this out. 😊
We have similar taste in fabrics! I love anything rayon...it is so comfortable. I also have Frye boots...a black pair and a brown pair. Haven't had them resoled yet...but will when the time comes! You look so lovely and feminine in your dresses.... you inspire me to wear them more often. My goal this year is to add one or two dresses each season. Enjoying your wintering videos❤
Thank you for sharing your fashion tips, you have a beautiful classic style. I haven’t tried wearing a sweater over a dress but now I’m going to try it! I run very cold so sweaters, jeans or corduroys have been my go tos in the winter. Normally, I wait til summer to wear dresses. I like the vest idea too.
I love the idea of wearing dresses! I have been wanting to change my wardrobe at home. I wear old clothes to work around the house. I was thinking I needed to change that. I am going to start thrifting for dresses! Thank you Hilary❤
I rarely wear dresses in winter, but love them for spring and summer. I have curated a collection of natural fabrics for the warm weather. Your winter styles and outfits are just so lovely on you!
You look great in dresses and I do love all the patterns. I’m a (young) 61 so I don’t know if I can pull off those patterns. But I do wear leggings and overtime I have learned how to wear them well with the length sweaters I wear.mostly cardigans that go a bit below my backside, and boots or even converse sneakers. But I got a kick when you said no gray or black. That’s all I wear. “It’s dark in my closet”, as Johnny Cash once said🤣
Wear the patterns u love and make them your own. You can definitely wear them at your age and beyond! Enjoy. ❤ P.S. That quote is hilarious! Thanks for sharing 😂
Girl! Do it! Wear whatever you want! I do the 333 method, but I feel like I’m cheating because almost everything I wear are dresses! I’m 50 and just like you, I wear converse and boots with my outfits. I’m still teaching middle school and my students try to figure out what color my converse will be the next day and which dress I’ll choose if I tell them what color shoes I’ll be wearing. It’s nice to dress professionally, but also have fun with my wardrobe. All the younger teachers like to wear jeans and tops, which is totally ok. Do what makes you happy! Wear the dresses!❤
I have a lot of capes I wear over my thin down jacket and it looks so great and I wear my thin down vest under my coats….keeps your core warm and cozy and allows me to be comfortable. Frye boots can last forever if you take care of them. It’s best to go to a cobbler I agree.
The pattern on the green dress is lovely, especially the detail around the pockets. I don't think I've seen it before. And wow, that red sweater with the scalloped neckline and details. I want to find something similar
I got rechargeable hand warmers for Christmas and love them!! Also you’ve inspired me. I started wearing a dress with sweater combo recently due to your videos to church (which I’ve never really done) and really liked the look.
Hi Hilary! I love dresses too. Personally I find them so comfy, especially since I carry more weight in my mid section. Pants can sometimes feel restrictive (hello muffin top ;) However, I don't tend to wear many in winter, but this video was so helpful in showing me ways I could make my collection of dresses work for me in the winter season. Thanks for sharing!
Have u tried the really high-waisted pants or jeans? No more muffin top. I'll never wear anything else again. They fit so much better and are much more comfortable. ❤
You've definitely inspired me to look for dresses. I used to wear them all the time in the summer, but I put on weight and always feel self conscious, but I think I'll look for some winter dresses. Thanks
I'm a dress/skirt wearer for the most part. When I have long sweaters I use a belt to tuck them in. Also, I discovered thermal tights about 10 years ago and they've been a game changer 😊
Two things that I can't seem to be able to deal with when wearing dresses is A: the wind blowing the skirt all over and B: the back of the skirt wrinkling up from sitting (after a car ride or lounging). I love the blanketing feel of skirts and do think they feel warmer.
Hilary, you are not the first person I've heard recently that mentioned not being able to wear polyester. If you don't mind my asking, and pardon me if you've already mentioned it, what fabrics do you enjoy wearing, especially with your dresses and other dressier type clothes? Thanks again for another great video! Blessings to all of you!
I pretty much do the same thing. I wae dresses or skirts all winter long with leggings And sweaters or cardigans and belts. Great video glad to know, I'm not alone.
Very nice video and to share inspiration. I think you have truly found "your" style. I really like the cropped cream vest/top. The details are nice, especially the buttons. And can we all say, how cool it is, to be able to wear a warm blanket in public; great design, everyone should have one of these! Love the Barbour jacket, quality never goes out of style. That one is so perfect, love the design and it looks so warm. You didn't mention any purses or bags. I know in the past you had a large all purpose bag for running errands. Question or maybe video idea - how often do you wear a dress prior to laundering? After wearing, do you hang them back in the closet? Any kind of organization to know which ones have or have not been worn a few times? Do you have a system for rotating which ones to wear on what days or just what seems to speak to you that morning? It's nice you have your own closet separate from your husbands. It's a very nice room.
Hi Hilary. You look lovely in all your outfits. I wear dresses hardly ever anymore. Working outside in the mountains it doesn't work well. It's 10 degrees here. I understand buying best quality. Cheap doesn't last. Have a great day.❤
Just luv ur style! 💓 What name brand is ur shawl? I also got a thrifted one in houndstooth, and was surprised at how perfect it is. Luv the vest. Saw some cute ones w wooden buttons! ❤ 😊
I appreciate your tips on staying warm in winter while wearing dresses without feeling bulky. I love dresses and they've long been my go-to since early in my career. I'm happy to say I'm here to learn from you at the recommendation of "Inspired by Nikki," so a big shout-out to you both 🩷
I am so with you on the polyester!! My mom and I just cannot stand it. And sadly that makes it harder to find things I want to wear, especially pajamas.
I have been wearing only dresses exclusively for almost 1 year now for modesty and faith purposes. I love to wear halftees under short sleeve dresses. Extra layer without the bulk of a regular shirt.
I got a set of rechargeable hand warmers last Christmas at a white elephant gift exchange. They are life changing! I don’t have to keep buying the disposable ones (save money) and better for the environment. Just an idea if you tend to use them a lot.
Vermont Country Store has the best winter tights for women. Also, winter knee socks. I own all the tights and knee socks in all the colors. When I wear leggings under a dress I wear the knee socks and no one can tell they are not tights.
You always look lovely. Warm in Winter and cool in Summer. I myself seem to be stuck on leggings and sweatshirts, wearing dresses only to church and fancier occasions. I buy fleece lined leggings for Winter. I walk almost daily on a rail to trails system that criss crosses my PA county. I have several easy access points very close to home. Leggings protect me from ticks, scratches, etc and keep me very warm in Winter. I walk as many as 7 miles daily so I am often outdoors for 2-3 hours year round……so you can see why those lovely and comfy dresses don’t work for me 😉
I'm in MN and we keep our house at 68 or 69 all winter and I am cold at home. If I wear a sleeveless dress I put a long sleeve shirt under it and a sweater on top and then I'm good. It's a good way for me to look put together at home, otherwise I just want sweatshirts and sweatpants so I'm warm enough.
Do you wear a slip? If so, what is your favorite. I've had a hard time finding a slip that doesn't get static or bunch up. I prefer wearing a skirt slip under a dress than a full dress slip. Love wearing dresses too! Thank you for sharing your tips.
I have one, but honestly I hardly ever wear it. Mine is mostly (or all, I can’t quite remember) cotton, I can’t do nylon or any other synthetic fabric close to my skin 💛 Silk is another great natural option!
Happy Thursday in January Hillary, family, and fur baby. Living in PA it is now 19 degrees, this morning it was 14 degrees. I am not a winter person the older I get. Just told my husband I want to move to a warmer state. STTB
Wonderful video! I really enjoy your content. I am trying to gradually replace fast fashion pieces with quality, natural fabric pieces. It is an investment, so trying to be intentional with it. Trial and error, but something I'm working towards
I love coats for the winter. However, this chilly winter here in NY is making me consider getting a down jacket. I have had down jackets in the past but they make me look so bulky and big and round. plus compared to coats, they are not as versatile. Like they are very casual. I found lovely coats from Land's End. High quality at affordable prices.
I enjoyed this video. I don’t wear dresses, mostly because I haven’t found dresses I enjoy wearing. You seem to find many 😊. I thrift my clothes and haven’t found dresses I would enjoy. Maybe I’ll think about Amazon.
In my part of N.C. we are in the 30s all day so I am inside. Liked your video very much. Although I am a pants girl I like dresses very much and like the way you put your look together. The sweater over a dress really looks like a skirt and top. Enjoy and admire you very much.❤
Hi Hillary , You Look Great In Your Dresses During the Winter. I Can't Wear Dresses it's too Cold for Me I Have A Thyroid Condition and Get Extra Cold All the Time.
@InspiredbyNikki recommended your channel. I appreciated your tips. I have been wearing dresses as often as possible for about three years. I am still acquiring pieces that make my decision-making and their upkeep easy. I totally agreed with your advice to buy quality. Longevity of the dresses and accessories I love are very important to me. Thanks again for all of your advice! 💖
Im thinking that the short vest is actually buttons to the back like you showed because the armholes are slightly cut away in the front. Not so much, though, that it can't be worn either way like you said.
I love this! You and I have such similar style! Thank you for sharing this and inspiring women in a simple, but important way!
Great informative video for anyone interested in dresses for winter. I love wearing dresses year round. I found it really easy to transition to winter, with leggings and sweaters. Thanks for sharing.
I love that crocheted sleeveless vest! looks like Sezane!
I agree. Dresses make one feel put together as well as feminine. You have so many options with dresses. Very informative video.
I’ve been waiting for this video! Thank you Hillary! I’m not very good at layering. I have to learn now in this colder climate! It really is an art to layer and to make it look well put together & not frumpy! Thank you for sharing ❤

Hilary i love your classic style. It is always in style. I have over the years develop a very classic style that works for me. As always a great vlog.
Great tips 👍🏼 Thankyou 😊
I wear dresses all year round too. More comfortable than pants, I think!

Welcome! I couldn’t agree more ☺️
You in inspired me to wear a dress this morning to church even though it’s only 29 out!! I have fleece lined tights on so that helps!
Awesome! I bet you looked lovely ☺️
When I was working I would often wear long jumpers with a turtleneck and tights underneath.
I loved your video! I'm so happy I found this channel from Inspired by Nikki!
Welcome! So glad you're here :)
I wear dresses year round here in Ohio and love them! I’ve really fallen in love with sweater dresses this winter and have been slowly trying to incorporate merino wool or cotton ones into my wardrobe!
Such great ideas! I might try and wear more of my dresses! Thanks for the inspiration again!
hey girl- great tips! Thanks for sharing Hillary😁👍 Love the looks
You can also use a thin belt over the sweater and then pull the sweater up all around to the desired length to hide the belt.
Hi Hillary! This is a great video, I wanted to ask you is there a tag on the side of the sleeveless top that is white & has buttons down it. Lovely collection! Thanks for sharing them! Great inspiration!!
I love the cream sleeveless sweater vest to keep your core body temperature warmer. The scallops are simply beautiful.
I learn about so many things from you. Like the boots you shown. The brand. Everything. Thank you.
I love the idea of wearing dresses! I have been wanting to change my wardrobe at home. I wear old clothes to work around the house. I was thinking I needed to change that. I am going to start thrifting for dresses! Thank you Hilary❤

Me too, only in summer, I live to throw one on with sandals and off I go ❤😊
You always look so put together and pretty!❤
Really enjoyed this video! Thank you for sharing ❤️
Your skin looks great with red. Great video
You look great in dresses and I do love all the patterns. I’m a (young) 61 so I don’t know if I can pull off those patterns. Girl! What a fun video! Thanks for sharing! Where is your favorite place(s) to get your dresses?
ThredUP 🙌🏼
The pattern on the green dress is lovely, especially the detail around the pockets. I don't think I've seen it before. And wow, that red sweater with the scalloped neckline and details. I want to find something similar
Oh, I love that sleeveless cream sweater!!
Great, stylish tips Hillary. Thank you.

@Julia.Mandelbrot yes, I agree! I only wear high waisted. I'm so glad they are back, and I hope they never go away.
Enjoyed the video Hilary. Have a wonderful day today! ☺️🤍
You too! ☀️
You've definitely inspired me to look for dresses. I used to wear them all the time in the summer, but I put on weight and always feel self conscious, but I think I'll look for some winter dresses. Thanks

Hi! Inspired by Nikki mentioned you in her last video, and I'm here to see what your channel is all about.
Welcome!

So glad you’re here!
Do you know the style name of your Barbour jacket?
The past two years, I have been wearing the dresses with sweater combo from one of your previous videos.
Loving these Wintering VLOGS

I walk as many as 7 miles daily so I am often outdoors for 2-3 hours year round……so you can see why those lovely and comfy dresses don’t work for me 😉
Have you considered ordering white sweater vest duplicates and color dying with Rit?
I have considered it, but so far I’m happy with my current selections 💛
I'm in MN and we keep our house at 68 or 69 all winter and I am cold at home. If I wear a sleeveless dress I put a long sleeve shirt under it and a sweater on top and then I'm good. It's a good way for me to look put together at home, otherwise I just want sweatshirts and sweatpants so I'm warm enough.
I came today because of Nikki at Inspired by Nikki. Great video.
Welcome!
I heard about your channel from Nikki at Inspired By Nikki. This is a great video.
Welcome!
Enjoyed.
came over from Nikki's channel! Nice to find you
Welcome!
I LOOOOVE the sweater vest! It has some polyester. Do you find it to be bothersome at all. I really want to get it!!
I don’t, and I think it’s because it’s not actually touching my skin 💛
Hello ,Just wanted to say Hello !!! Coming from Nikki's Chanel ❤
Welcome!
I’ve looked on Thred Up for dresses, but I can’t find the pretty floral prints often. Is there another site you would recommend?
Do you have a link for the long sleeve cream cable sweater in the intro?
I enjoyed this video. I don’t wear dresses, mostly because I haven’t found dresses I enjoy wearing. You seem to find many 😊. I thrift my clothes and haven’t found dresses I would enjoy. Maybe I’ll think about Amazon.
I buy the majority of my dresses off of ThredUp, which is like an online thrift store, and some items are secondhand but many are also brand new!
In my part of N.C. we are in the 30s all day so I am inside. Liked your video very much. Although I am a pants girl I like dresses very much and like the way you put your look together. The sweater over a dress really looks like a skirt and top. Enjoy and admire you very much.❤
Plz show us you dress collection
thank you
I as an older woman order all my tights from Sagg's from England. They las years and come in all colors and sizes
That's a great resource, thank you!
Just same a pound your videos. I’ve enjoyed watching your channel great advice. Will subscribe and watch more thank you!
So glad you're here!
It would be fun to see a weeks worth of outfits for winter for some real life examples.
Welcome!
Im thinking that the short vest is actually buttons to the back like you showed because the armholes are slightly cut away in the front. Not so much, though, that it can't be worn either way like you said.
