I'm older and retired but I take every Friday for an adventure day. Sometimes it's trying a new restaurant locally, sometimes it's taking a drive somewhere where there's a festival , a shop or an event that I want to see. It helps keep my life fresh and interesting
This is one of my goals for this year! I’m a new empty nester so need to mix things up. It can be as simple as a coffee shop I haven’t tried or hiking a trail I’ve never been to!
Spending time outside in the snow, then settling down by fire as the snowstorm continues, is such a primal pleasure. And hooray for car rides without having to make bathroom stops!
You truly are making wonderful childhood memories for your children. They are indeed blessed. Well done to you and your husband. No snow where I live in Australia. I’m loving seeing it on your videos. God bless from Western Australia.
We just did a trip with our "adult out of the house" kids to a SkiHill getaway for 4 nights... they all did the Tube Park (ages 27 - 30)...the laughs and squeals of delight were just as loud as when we did this when they were in elementary school!
I grew up in Putnam County,New York and the scenery on your drive over was sooooo familiar, made me a little nostalgic.🤭 (The mountains, palisades, causeway bridge across the reservoir, etc.)
This was such a warm, wonderful video! Loved the snow, and your snow tubing looked great. The whole weekend, even spending a cozy day inside, on Sunday afternoon, looked wonderful. I loved seeing you in your hat with the floppy, furry ear flaps.
I have so enjoyed your Wintering videos. You have such a calmness and soothing voice & vibe that is so enjoyable to watch. You are such a beautiful soul! I don’t comment often at all but I’ve been a viewer for quite a while. Love & Hugs!
What a wonderful weekend!! The snow tubing looked like so much fun! A wonderful family outing! And now looking forward to next weekend, kind of like two staycations!
For some reason it was so fun to see you in fast motion, I don’t think I watched any of your videos with this type of footage 🏂☃️❄️ (long time subscriber here😊)!
The snow tubing looked like so much fun. Luke looks just like Dan. I like the way the church puts the songs on screen so everyone can sing. Our temperature this morning was 5 degrees. The snows lovely. We have staycation where we go to nearby parks and try different things. It also helps local businesses. Take care and God bless you all. ❤
I just loved this video! It brought me back to the days when my kids were little, we did a lot of tubing…so fun. You are such a great Mom. I enjoy watching you…you have such a calm demeanor.
I was not a summer person and these past two years I've come to enjoy the hot weather and not so much the 8 degree days. We definitely change year to year.
Your stay-cation looked fun, even with the hick up! LOL! You made some homemade marshmallows too. It must be a trendy thing for us homemakers this season.
Oh my goodness look at how pretty the snow is all collected on the pine and the tree branches. Making me want to head up into the mountains this weekend to get my fix! The fire is just lovely as well.
A tree snow is so pretty! On your trip for sledding, the ice on the rocks looked like the Blue Ridge Parkway where I live in NC. You had a great weekend. ❤
The snow tubing looked so fun!! And how wonderful that you all have something special to look forward to every month😊The snowy yard looks beautiful and it must feel so cozy when you go back inside❤God bless you all Hilary.
We live in CO and have never done the "winter" type activities with the exception of sledding. Snow tubing looks like a lot of fun! We will definitely have to try it!:) Thanks for sharing your staycation!
I think you've hit the nail on the head, Hillary! Gratitude really does go a long way, and does help to change our perspectives. And I, too, appreciate you sharing your family adventures. Our kids are grown and one has a family of her own now, but we have fond memories of sledding on our property and even down the slanted road in front of our home. That was the best! We used an old wooden sled that my husband's parents had, and when the road was iced over, we'd all take turns sledding down it. I can still hear our kid's squeals as they'd ride with their dad! Thanks for prompting those sweet memories. Blessings to you all as you enjoy this winter season! And may our Lord continued to be worshiped with your videos!
This was beautiful Hilary and such a nice thing to pick a new adventure each month, no matter how close or how far....keep having fun and that family closeness and love!! Sorry tho' whoever wasn't feeling well.
Loved this video, and we also love stay cations A dusting of snow here in South Carolina, but boy is it cold for us this week, my blood must have thinned since I moved here
I’ve been in a challenge that started the beginning of January, for a month, with bootcamp ( my gym ). It has challenges for every day and a larger challenge each week. This week is getting in 10,000 steps and I’m feeling great. We’ve had non stop snow, blowing and very cold (minus 15 C ), but I’m still enjoying winter. No blues yet 😊
Just want until you have to stop for the bathroom for the parents. Lol. I have five kids that range in age between 8 to 18. On road trips we usually have to stop for my husband or I now.
Such a fun weekend! It's really nice you all do a family discussion and pick a " family fun day" for each month. Too cold for me. I left Michigan many years ago, I remember all the fun things we used to do as a kid. Our main thing was ice skating, sledding and graduated to snow mobiles. We're having our cold spell in Florida, and spend the time mostly hunkered down. The marsh mellows looked interesting and good, did I hear correctly that beef broth was used? Strange.
@@OldWorldHome - My parents lived on a lake when I was in my late teens and early 20's, on dirt roads in Michigan. Dirt back roads got plowed very last so we always had a few days of riding on the roads, which was so much fun, you can go fast because you knew there were not branches or stuff in the way. Beef anything in something sweet just sound so weird!

You were in my neck of the woods for your adventure in north jersey. There’s lots of neat things in that area. I’m pretty sure the coffee shot is owned by an acquaintance.
I’ve often wondered where in NJ you live…. I googled the coffee roaster town and see that you live fairly close to my daughter who lives in West Milford.
Hillary does your friend that was at your house and did the Bible Study with you, does she still go to your Church? I agree with Dan, that ice could be weak at anytime. I personally do not tempt anything like that. Thanks for Sharing.
We recently got our first puppy 🐶 ❤️ we do. However, I struggle with family outings now 1) because we only want to be with him, and 2) we struggle with where to leave him. What do you do if you don't mind me asking. Great video. Thank you 💛
Hi Hillary! Do you have any suggestions for natural body moisturizer? Drug store bought lotion has toxic ingredients that go right into your blood stream as soon as you put it on your skin. I know you recently mentioned something about trying to use as many natural ingredients as possible.
I used some lovely beef tallow on my lower legs which was great. The neighbour’s dog was very interested in how they smelt!!🤣. (I couldn’t smell anything much) . Lovely video Hilary. Such amazing memories you’re making ❤️
My friend uses only coconut oil on her skin. When I first met her,I thought she was 29 or thirty years old, then she introduced me to her twenty year old son,who she gave birth to in her twenties!😳

Hilary, you gotta take a picture of that snowy field and frame it in your home! ❤ So beautiful!!
Great idea, it’s such a beautiful winter scene.
Beautiful scenery. I would never move if I had your property. Your home is cozy, quaint and filled with love. Nothing better ❤️

I have to say the glow in your face and your joy is radiant. I hope you do this next January. It has been my favorite set of vlogs you have done.

You are such a wonderful mother, and are always calm, peaceful, and optimistic. ❤ Your family is blessed to have you in their lives, as are we.
I'm from NJ as well and always used to go skiing at Mount Peter. Always had such a fun time there!
What a wonderful lesson to share with your daughter and us , we don't always have to be a certain way. We have the ability to change.

Curious about your outdoor furniture, obviously weather resistant. Any problems with it being out year round?
No problems. It has lightened over the years but other than that I usually just give it a good spray down in the spring and it’s good as new
