This track is one of the all time most powerful moments in any game I've ever played; I was already on board and engaged, and as soon as the voice started and the first teleport took place after the bass thump I realized what was happening and just got floored. This game is a masterpiece, and the moment created by the game and this track stands as one of the greatest single sequences ever crafted in the medium
tried to outplay the teleporting and walked into a cif statue while this was playing the first time and got so mad that I had killed the moment for myself
I did the same thing, but I didn't feel that it ruined the moment. I'd say this happening means it was successful in creating the feeling of panic it was going for. A moment in a game doesn't have to be the same for everyone in order to be meaningful, in fact I'd argue it's better when that's not the case.
the level changes timed with the crescendo & lyrics around 4:00 offers an experience that is very rare. There aren't many games that have such an aesthetic.
I've never experienced a game thar made me feel absolutely hopeless and defeated. Many try to capture that feeling by making you feel powerless, but usually it is artificial or "scripted". I think Void Stranger nailed this feeling by still allowing you to continue... if you could, but then slowly making you realize just how pointless it was. It wasn't so much that the game was forcing you to "solve" puzzles that couldn't be solved, but forcing you to slowly realize that there was no longer a point in even trying to love your character. I fucking love it. It was like being a crab in a slowly boiling pot.
@@pancakedan7883 For me it felt empowering. I got this ending prior. But on my DIS run I got here after doing what you need to do. I figured I would deny the game of it's grief over me and rush to any Cif statue I could find during this banger. When I did, it felt like a major "This isn't where my story ends!" moment.
I got this ending, even though it was a bad ending, it has one of the most profound message I've ever seen. It was all started by the temptation of eating the pomegranate, we managed to play the game as normally and think "oh, why i didn't just do this before" until we reached the end, and we see the consequences of taking the fruit. Gray is lost, the stages is falling apart, and she slowly engulfed by the darkness slowly losing her purpose of why she goes down into the void. But you've given the second chance to redo everything again, but this time, with all the knowledge of all stages, you unknowingly made a vow to yourself that you never take a fruit from the devil ever again.
This track absolutely _sold_ the moment it accompanies, and is what well and truly *grabbed* my attention. Caught me out without warning and it's gonna stick with me for a while.
MASTERCLASS. I'm SO thankful this game was recommended/gifted to me. I went from struggling to engage with the game to DRAGGED down the rabbit hole in an instant with this track and its context. The vocal performance by Eevamari is a perfect match to the gradual distortion and feelings of despair brought out as the song gets more and more intense, it's just the absolute last thing I expected out of this. So excited to finish this...thank you for creating!
I was dumbstruck when this played. Like, actual musical vocals in this little block puzzle game. The sound, the mood, the situation, this made me think of the game "Transistor", specifically the song "The Spine". Plenty of strong, melancholic vocal tracks in that game (as well as a kick-ass lady protagonist facing similarly dire struggles)

been listening to this song almost nonstop for the past several days - I even managed to get to `[ENDING D]` yesterday but the main reason i keep coming to this track is not just because of the vibes of desperation, which is a major plus, but also the fact I *Feel* the lyrics - The only thing I can do, in my current situation, is hold on - The one thing I can control as I search for a new job - as the deadline approaches... and this song, just makes it that little bit easier to hold on - that little bit, is sometimes enough...
oh yeah, and when I first heard this track, I had opened the game up to show a friend and just be like "hey check out this cool puzzle game", after a many-weeks break and it was just "oh oops, i showed them the bad end first"
This... was a surprise. I had never expected such a song Can't lie, it weirded me out at first. Yet, it felt right, profoundly fitting A beautiful moment.
I had to really struggle to get through my first run through Void Stranger because sokobans are just not my thing. I had put down the game like twice leading up to this point, only picking it up again a couple weeks later each time because I loved Zeroranger so dearly and wanted to at least see this to the end. This sequence is what started me to spiral until I had like 50-something hours in this game. It's been months and I'm still thinking about it daily.
I’m /really/ bad at puzzle games, especially the type that Void Stranger is. I was also really bad at shmups. But ZeroRanger became one of my favorite games I had ever played.
