It came out around 1989. I was 10 and got grounded for telling my parents not doing chores was “My Prerogative”. They cancelled our MTV subscription shortly after.
I sold a lot of this CD, and I mean a LOT in 1988 & 1989, and even beyond that time. Bobby Brown feally had something umique with that album, which I believe was his first. Much credit to MTV for his meteoric rise.
I’d argue here that his mediocre rise was the early adoption of New Jack Swing and his producer deserves all the praise and recognition here. That album was not special, that producer was. Had New Jack Swing been allowed to grow outside of manufactured production…it would still be discussed today.
Man!! I wish this kinda dance music would come back!!! A good dance club with a live band that could play this kinda stuff is a whole different kinda party!! MJ, Janet, BBD, En Vogue, Fresh Prince, PRINCE, Salt & Peppa, Keith Sweat, sooo many more. A cranking sound system, lights and effects!!! Just a wild fun time!!!
Yep New Edition, Levert, Al B Sure, Babyface, Jody Wately, Toni Tone Tone, Ready for the World, Tony Terry, Whitney Houston, Karyn White, GUY, The Isley Brothers etc.. 80s club R&B was the joint.
That drummner on fire we go to the club wouldnt be a empty seat in the house hot and sweat flying and dropping all oner the place! Bobby bought the funk literally!!!😂❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Check out Bobby Brown,or aka just "Brown" that's what they call me" as he says in the song.He really showed off his dance moves in "Every Little Step"video.🔥🎵
In the late 4 years of the 80s sometimes we would be at 3 different concerts during the week - if we weren't - we were grooving at the flats of Cleveland or at my friends bands. (2 of them are now with Herman's hermits) look up newer footage - rich is on keys billy is on guitar (with the blonde spiky hair). God i miss the 80s!!!

This came out in 1988
In my opinion, Bobby best represented the new jack sound. They don't make stars like him anymore.
