Neon Beings So sweet of you to offer, thanks! ☺️ Just watching your covers helps a lot, so if you could help in another way that’d be amazing! I’ve been “playing” piano for over 10yrs but have never had lessons 😅 I grew up learning flute instead, so treble clef is second nature to me but my brain refuses to learn bass clef now 😑 I’m pretty good at working out songs by ear though (I’m a huge VW fan and have worked out most of their songs over the years) but my left hand definitely still needs help! I would be a piano teacher’s worst nightmare, so many years of bad habits to fix haha!
Miranda Wright yeah tbh just working on your left hand on your own helps a lot, especially going through scales. there isn’t really any big secret to improving your playing, it’s all just about how much time you put into it haha
Neon Beings thanks, yep practice practice practice I guess then haha! Also when playing by ear I can pick up the melody relatively easily but never know what to play on the left hand apart from chords... any tips? Have you written out sheet music for the VW covers that could maybe help?
Miranda Wright hmm usually i just play the bass note and alternate between it and the note above to add some rhythm if that makes any sense. sometimes i play a fifth too in the left hand but i rarely play the full triad as that tends to sound very muddy especially in the lower registers.
i haven’t actually written out the whole sheet music... only got some melodies written out. i’m still happy to send my half-written our scores if you’re interested though!
