- I decided to give my old 2022 race bike another try after struggling to find comfort on my current bike. Will I decide to revert back to the old machine for 2024?

Looking good Jeff!
I’ve got to say personally the 22 KTM is the best bike i’ve ever owned/ridden, It’s such a good machine 🙌
Just some random suggestions:
1. Do you do any hand eye speed drills?
2. Do you train with faster riders?
3. Do you train at a variety of tracks?
4. Do you train on trials bikes, pit bikes, or BMX to work your bike skills? I seem to remember a vid of you doing BMX awhile back. Be like McGrath, he started in BMX. Deegan does a lot of pitbikes. BMX trains efficiency and corner speed as does a 125. Pitbikes helps with jumping skills and saving the O'sh.t moments. Trials helps with bikes skills, line choice, and also the O'sh.ts.
5. Do you do any martial arts or gymnastics ( Works your crash landing skills and hand eye. :-) ).
6. Have you tried hitting up a MX school to analyze your riding? Moto Academy has had the Lawrence's, Plessinger, Musquin, etc. as guest instructors.
Good luck.
I would like to additionally add your lookin like your old self again man, shredding hard. Over the front attacking. Should be a solid outdoor season if you decide to go back in time with the chassis.
I dont know if its just me but i feel like i can see some of that 2022 speed through the camera
It’s always a good day when Jeff posts 🔥💯❤️
It’s a good day when the moto bro comments🔥
@@JeffWalker84 thanks man I appreciate it great vid as always 🔥
@@JeffWalker84 yeah, you had me checking for a post everyday since teasing us on your IG story with the GasGas haha - would've loved hearing a more in-depth opinion of your experience of all the bikes you tested on the track these past weeks, especially of the new vs old race bike.
The sound this thing makes. INSANE. The GasGas machines are growing on me. With these Red Bull Sony Pictures graphics it looks so good.

great video again. only the sound without music. like this so much. Best from Germany !
Had a similar experience in DH/Enduro MTB racing after being with one company for 4 years as I was trying to establish myself as a Pro. Was crashing a ton and not feeling myself on the bike. Confidence was super low and it was hard not to blame it on myself but I had a hunch it had to do with the bike and it’s geometry. Took a chance and bought a bike with another design philosophy and everything clicked, I started enjoying riding a lot more and going faster. Seems like a similar deal here. Trust that feeling man!
I have a 2023 350sxf and recently done the ride engineering axle blocks with the yz axle swap. It really seems to have calmed down the side to side kick in the rear end, hope this helps! Keep shredding 🤙🏼
Smooth! 🥵🥵
Make it look so effortless
Watching you this year on your KTM. You looked like you're constantly fighting it. Especially when i saw you in person. On this youre just flowing. It's like the bike is an extension of you. Like how you used to be on The Honda!
I graduated MMI with Mitch Gerwin. I use to ride hard rock, pax, bithlo and Lakeland with him. Cool to see he still doing your suspension.
I just got a 250 sxf 2024 and that bile absolutely rips!!!

Jeff you need to race in actual races instead of being king of the practice tracks because you will only improve through racing and getting your confidence back, all the best gaz
he does competitions lol
Jeff I really hate to say placebo effect. I don’t want to think that’s what’s happening here. Gotta believe in you man. You’re an absolute beast on the dirt scooter man. Takes guts to line up next to the best in the world. Don’t forget that through all of what happened last year you were able to qualify and race pro. Something most people can’t do. You’re a fuckin unit bro don’t forget it. You have to keep that mentality going and when you get that momentum carry it. We’re supporting you and hope this summer is huge for team walker.

The van build is nice it makes me wanna build out my trailer too lol
Have you thought about doing the Canadian series? Or even a couple rounds? Would be a change of scenery and experience and more than likely a good confidence boost
I made the change from a 23’ 250f gasgas to a 2024 YZ250F and this was the best choice i could make. Get some more time on the newer yamahas. It will amaze you. Atleast it did to me. Cheers
I tried to follow you and try to keep up as much as i could but still 15sec a lap off. Track was way rough at the beginning then dusty at the end of the day made it slick. You looked pretty comfortable on the bike.
You got this bro rip it slip it and pull it ✊🏻
Mmmm og chassis. Honest to god. That 22 chassis is THE BEST chassis ktm ever produced to DATE. I miss mine. I’m happy with what I have and wouldn’t change the fact I went yamaha but that 22 ktm was the definition of perfect chassis ergos for me. Vanilla engine. Chassis does whatever you want it to with a little input. Just a solid solid bike.
I think you’ll do much better on your new bike. It seems to handle much better. Good luck in outdoors bro and your look pretty good on the GasGas.💯🤙🙏✌️🇺🇸👍👊
Look fast🤘🏼
Had over 300
Hours on the previous gen ktm 450 chassis. Amazing bike. Tried the 23 ktm 450, put about 30 hours on it. Also tried everything from A-kit you name it. Could not get comfortable on the bike and felt super sketch trying to go fast. Sold it and bought a 23 yz450. Best bike I have ever rode. Have over 100 hours on the yz with Enzo suspension and it is amazing. Also rode the 24 Kawi 450 and was very impressed. Probably the best stock bike I have ever ridden
Good stuff
Recently (6 months ago) switched to the 2023 ktm 450, and man has it been a ride. I cannot get used to it, granted I am not as fast as you but the struggles are real. I have an 04 ktm 250sx that I’d ride 100x before that 450. I am trying everything possible at this point to make it better for me personally
Looking great on the kawi and the gas gas. I know when theres multiple bumps in the road and bad things happen you start to doubt yourself but man you’ve got more to prove. The only thing that will help you improve is seat time, technique work and most importantly staying hungry to do better so keep up the great work. Side note will you be making a video after deciding what bike you’ll race and your training plans for outdoors?
Yeah I plan on sitting down soon and talking about the Honda, Yamaha, Kawi, and GasGas once I make a decision
@@JeffWalker84 sweet deal brother 👍
dang bro, butter
Can definitely notice you seem more comfortable and faster on this bike.
Comfort = Confidence + Consistency = speed. 📚
Man that bike looks fast..
Either race this one or find a current model year bike that works for you like that 2024 kx450 you rode. A little head work, ecu, exhaust and A-kit suspension and I bet the kx would probably be your dream race bike
Hi Jeff, ive been subscribed to your channel for a couple of years. It is my humble opinion that you have a confidence issue with pushing the front end in the corners compared to your agression in previous years. You used to have far more confidence on your Honda 2 strokes.
Would be interesting to see a lap time comparison of each of the bikes you tested with a pros and cons of each. Then a final decision on what you'll ride this year and why. Would be a neat video.
Yeah I agree, assuming track layout and conditions are close to being the same(which I think they were, no crazy mud or anything).
Idk really hard to beat the way you rode that 24 kx450... you had that thing on rails. It's not hard to get more out of that motor either!!
this guy never fails to shred no matter the bike keep it up man
❤️
its good to see you back on a gas gas shredding like you were before
@JeffWalker84 Well I am curently on the same issue as you. But on the other side of the big puddle. The 2024 km is just too stiff and a lot of guys struggle with it. We are all A+ semi-pro riders... I would consider buying the new more flexible ktm which is much more soft and 2022 like
Wishing you good luck
Go Jeff
time to get your hands on a 2024.5 ktm and test that.
Excited to try the new frame when the standard 25s come out! A pair of $14k factory editions don’t quite fit the privateer budget this season. It looks good though
LET'S GOOOO
Day 1 of cheering on Jeff go jeff
Always good to keep an eye on the guy in the mirror, but you either gel with a bike setup or you don’t…Your too good/fast to be searching on a bike that isn’t quite right out of the box to begin with. Im sure “trust” in your bikes handling is everything at your level. 💯
He's just exploring options. You're right though. "to an extent" because... It's not the bow, it's the Indian! Best advice I ever heard when I was younger.
I find it very impressive you can just jump on different bikes and rip laps Jeff. I always had problems with that and not being comfortable.
I had quite a few hours on this exact setup in 2022, so that definitely helps! Regardless, I appreciate the kind words
Sounds like like all ktm gas gas guys i know Bam bam wants his older bike for sure
You feel so good that you're making those confidence mistakes 🤣❤
Nice Minnesota Wild hat!
I ride that same track!
Absolute ripsnorting on that gasser Jeff, animal 🦍
Gotta make a mental note to use “ripsnorting” in my vocabulary more often!😂 thanks man
@@JeffWalker84 you got it bud! 😂 All the best 🤙🏼
bro this cam is insane
Better flow around the track 👍
I don't know about the United States but here in Australia you can still get a brand new 2022 mc450 for a good price.
Ive been considering using turbo speed tuning for a revalve. Anyone around that area have any feedback about them for a softer moto/harescramble do it all kinda vet setup? Thx
You are not slow brother 😂 i wish i could ride like you 😅
Hey mate what setup you running on your forks, you have a cartridge kit? if so what one, was looking into kyb a kit conversion, ive got a 22 gas gas aswell
also hate the air forks so really looking into it
So you like the old chassis then?
ill keep watching till the day I die 😤
Hopefully you’ll be watching for a very long time then😳
Newer is not always better. Companies definitely take a step backwards by accident with new designs from time to time.
I say switch to the 24 kawi! Best thing I have done!
You know I was wondering why you switched from turbo to TCD maybe switch back 🤷🏼♂️ could be something mental with the switch
never knew you rode gas gas
Sometimes change is a good thing and sometimes change is a bad thing. But I do know that if your not comfortable and don’t trust the bike your performance will reflect it
I have a question to ask you. How long did you ride your current KTM in stock form before you added all of your aftermarket parts? They say that 23-24 chassis takes at least 10 hours of break-in time. If you went straight to aftermarket parts, then put it back to stock and work from there. Your riding is not the problem as you totally rip it out there. The first ride on my 2023.5 FC 450 Rockstar Edition was stiff as all get out. It gets better with each ride, and I have not even touched the suspension yet. I am still in the breaking in the chassis stage.
I have about 100hrs across both of the 2023 bikes that I had. I tried the stock settings, full A-kit, spring rates, oil volumes, different valving, different rear shock bladders, bars, seat heights, footpeg offsets….literally everything haha
@@JeffWalker84 I wish I had a good answer for you. Do you have more of a problem with the front end feel or rear feel of the bike? I would not run twinwall bars on that chassis. Go back to the fatbar instead.
It feels you had better "luck" with the 450..IMO.
250 is expensive with all mods.
450 is the way to go
Have you ever thought of buying a kawi? Even though they dont have the best quality
I have a 22 frame 250 and I also have a 23 250 and by far the 23 is better, did take a bit to setup but has way more power than 22. Interesting that the 450s went backwards tho
That’s not true, even the MXGP team went back to the 2022 engine for the entire season with Tom Vialle, as soon as they done that tom was winning everything again
Did I hear, oh, ooh oh s$#! ?
A little front wheel high at the end?
Thank god 🙏.
Im so happy for Jeff. Finally!
I believe the 2022 Gas Gas is the greatest bike for that year. 2nd in the shootouts. Only yamaha beat the GasGas.
So phucking awesome Jeff is not "meshing" with a brand. Time to get real.
Great job Jeff.😊😊
I'm amazed at how little you touch the clutch when braking. Do you have a Rekluse? Or are you just that soft with the rear brake that you don't worry about stalling?
Never used a Rekluse auto clutch before! I’m not too heavy on the rear brake, but the biggest reason I don’t pull the clutch in is because I rely heavily on engine braking to slow me down. If I pull the clutch in, I lose the engine braking and end up overshooting the corner
@@JeffWalker84 That makes a ton of sense - definitely something I need to practice on. I have a habit of pulling clutch in and feathering it out to use the ending braking rather then just not touch at all. Thanks for the reply! Keep on rippin'!
@@jakedupont3882 yeah definitely took a while took get used to snd utilize when switching to my first 250F in the day from a 125 was the engine braking. As well as not dabbing the clutch throughout the whole corner either.
Awesome riding tho J.W.!! 🤙
I'm struggling to get back to my old speed. I was high B, low A rider on a 250f and then didn't ride for 7 years. On a 450 now and it's been 1.5 yrs on it and still can't get back to that old speed. Maybe it's bike set up. Maybe I'm just older. But either way I cannot ride a 450 as fast as a 250f
Bro you should def ride gasgas, never saw you going so fast on a bike you’ve never ridden. Imagine if you would really be one with this bike
It’s the exact same model as the 2022 KTM
What twin wall bar bend do you run Jeff? 👏🤦♂️
997! 604 if you want the fat bar version
What happened to racing supercross?
Hey Jeff do you change your sag on a sand track verse hard pack track?
No, but I do soften my clickers for hard pack! Normally 7-8 clicks softer on compression, half a turn on high speed, 3ish clicks faster on rebound
@@JeffWalker84 Thanks Jeff. Do you do the same with your forks to?

The factory Ktm team can’t even figure out the bike and it’s been 2 years. I don’t understand why you would even make the move. Entire purpose of moving to a different bike is because of speed. You have a big enough following to ride every single manufacturer on the same track. I know you might not be in a financial position but your forgetting your one of the biggest moto channels there is. Get out the comfort zone and start making moves on this business that needs riders

Have you been training at least 3 days a week? Physically? And on the track?
Being a top athlete kind of means you have to train like no one else.
Think about what you are expecting out of yourself... would you expect to walk on a football field or basketball court and keep up?
This sport is no different..
Don’t think I’d be in my position if I wasn’t training 7 days a week!
@@JeffWalker84 👍keep working hard. IT will pay off. Rooting for ya!

You ever ridden Suzuki?
Day 372 of commenting until Jeff responds or heart my ccoment
Why dont you do some actual races? Ofcourse youre going to feel faster each time you ride the same track over and over.
I don’t know about where you live, but the A class normally has less than 5 people in it and none of them are quite pro level. I end up paying $150+ to do two 5 lap motos by myself. Much more cost-effective to pay $20 and ride as much as I want.
I dont think the new ktm is good and ktm know it, every person i see on the new chassis just look like they're unconfortable on the bike.
Just as an outside observation i think you look super sketchy and all over the place on this bike campared to how you looked on the Honda or kawi videos you just did. Entering the corners your arms and bars are just going everywhere right to left as you try to get into the corners, were the other bikes there wasnt so much correction and over correction, but like i said that is just a recliner view from a potatoe on a bike.😂
Interesting! I’d mostly attribute that to the track being a lot harder and slicker than when I rode the others, but a fair observation either way.
