I always use the thumb cast on. When I first started knitting a couple of months ago, I tried to learn the other long tail methods, but I just couldn't get the hang of it until I finally found this method.
Aw, I love them. So easy! I love your knitting videos. I'm currently knitting a blanket for my daughter but I will make her these to match. I think I will make these now, and put the blanket on hold just for a bit. Thanks Emi, you darling friend you. ;-)
Very lovely, thank you so much. Just in time for Christmas gifts too.
Exactly the video I've been looking for.
I haven't knitted in years and I've been struggling to find bed socks that are "easy" to make. Even a beginner could do these.
Thank you. Was very easy to make.
Thank you. Very well done.
Thank you for the cast on method
Thank you so much for your lovely pattern! Very easy to follow. I just finished making the slippers and am very happy with them!

Nice friend
Good
Beaitiful
Knitting every row is called Garter stitch.
Love these, could l use two strands double knit together, or one strand aran wool, do you no if l would need more stitches many thanks
Yes, you can use 2 strands of dk yarn.
Thank you x
I have a small foot and how many sts to put on
hi, thank you for this pattern - I am a novice knitter and I do not quite get how you pull through the stitches at the end to make the toe. It goes very quickly. Is there somewhere that I can see it done more slowly?
Hi Jane! If you hover the cursor on the bottom of the video, a bar will open with a little "gear" icon, if you click on that, you can slow the video down to a very very slow pace. I hope that helps. Kind regards, Emi
AT 2:30 IN THE VIDEO.. WORK IN "GARTER" STITCH, not "stockinette" stitch.
Sorry forgot ask did you sew the slippers at end instead out wrong side x
Hmmm... well, I usually use the mattress stitch so it doesn't show from either side. But if your stitches show, you could do it from the inside.
Thank you
Hello, question for you it seems in the video that there are decreases as you finish the ribbing or is just the way the slipper looks on the camera ? Are there decreases ?
No decreases, ribbing looks smaller because it pulls in.
@@Hectanooga1 super thank you
Can this pattern be also done in crochet?
Yes, it can, here are my other crochet slippers: ruclips.net/user/Hectanooga1search?query=crochet%20slippers
I'm a little confused on the second phase of the slipper (the regular knit stitch part after knitting and purling). It looks like you started over with new knitting needles and you didn't just add on the knit stitch part to the knitting and purling part. (sorry if that didn't make sense if i need to explain again, that's no problem.) please respond
I used the same needles throughout. The ribbing section appears smaller because that is the nature of ribbing, it tends to contract... then when I knitted every row, it seems wider because it is no longer ribbing. I hope that explains it? If not, let me know!
@@HectaFavorites okay! thank you so much! so after i finish the knitting and purling portion, i can just continue doing a regular knot stitch?
@@lindsey5855 Yes, after the ribbing, you will knit every row.
How many stitches do you cast on
15 seconds in on the video, all sizes are there
Hi sorry its me again what shoe size is the adult small and medium please, l live in the UK my slipper size would normally be 5- 6. Many thanks
Adult sizes:
Size 6 = 9.3 inch long foot (23.6 cm)
Size 6.5 = 9.5 inch foot (24.13 cm)
Size 7 = 9.7 inch long foot (24.6 cm)
Size 8 = 10 inch long foot (25.4 cm)
Size 9 = 10.2 inch long foot (26 cm)
Size 10 = 10.5 inch long foot (26.7 cm)
Size 11 = 11 inch long foot (28 cm)
Size 12 = 12 inch long foot (30.5 cm)
Size 13 = 13 inch long foot (33 cm)
Size 14 = 14 inch long foot (35.5 cm)
S-M: size 6 - 7
M-L: size 8- 9
L-XL: size: 10-12
Please tell me if the sizes are same for men also,
And if I am knitting for men's size 9 then should I follow medium (28 stitches) or large (32 stitches) thanks
There are a couple of things about this video that aren't quite right..the first is the way the yarn is wrapped around the needle for the purple stitches. I was taught to wrap the yarn from the opposite direction. Also, the stitch for all knit rows is the Garter Stitch not Stockinette. For beginner knitters this could cause confusion for other projects. Just saying. This slipper is adorable and makes a great gift. Just be sure to say they are a little slippery if you walk around in them.
I meant to say purl stitches..not purple
We all make mistakes. Lol
@@susankovacs1176 Thank you Susan. I realize that I do purl differently to others, it was the way I was taught, and it still looks the same...I am trying to train myself to work it the other way, but I find it extremely awkward. And yes, my mistake about calling the garter stitch the stockinette stitch in the written instructions. Kindest regards,
Emi
@@Hectanooga1 I have made 2 pair of slippers using your pattern. They are adorable.
