Circular needles are specifically designed to work in the round, but they also work well on flat patterns. That said, I use them for all my projects because that way my ADHD brain doesn't loose them everywhere (I have a LOT of single straight needles...).

@@carlamgraca Thanks for the info. That's good to know bc I can see myself easily misplacing one in a set of flats. ..Right now I have my flat sets on a random shelf with the sizes facing out waiting to store in a shoe box. Maybe that will help me out in the meantime.

@@knitterellaknell4838 if you have the possibility, invest in a good set of interchangeable needles. They'll last you a lifetime and you won't have to wander if you have the right size every time you look at a project. They don't cover every size, though, are usually on the middle range.
