- The first residential high-rise built in Gowanus, Brooklyn after recent rezoning hits the affordable housing market this week. CBS News New York's Hannah Kliger has been reporting on the massive changes coming to the neighborhood and shows us how the skyline has changed once again.
I am willing to bet they didn't properly clean up in the industrial areas.
How is a studio for $3,000 "affordable"??
That’s for market rate apartments. The affordable ones are based on AMI and much cheaper.
No no no, $3000 studio will cover an "affordable" unit. Suckers like myself will work their a$$ off so not_so_hardworking can enjoy it basically for free. I mean tax payers cover the missing part.
@@Bart-dg6qv you sound bitter for no reason.
d@@matthewwhipple7292 Aaaamd... market rate in Brooklynr is NOT 3K for a studio, not yet.
Thisproject is lying to the neighborhood - surprise surprise - from their all white staged RE office that has zero connection with the people of Goeanus. Or with the artists. MEH.
The govt pays the rent..It's section 8 housing..
Living near toxic waste. No thanks, years of auto body shops dumping paint and other chems. Along with a garbage plant and scrap yard down the stream. It would be ok if it was affordable.
3k a month to live in a studio lol 🤡
Only if you work hard and pay taxes. No job and no taxes and you can have it for pennies 😂

@1:26, she looks sceptical and for good reason.
I wonder how 4th Ave condo owners feel about their skyline views being blocked by new developments in Gowanus? Could be promising though. May need added Bus & Culver Line service at Carroll St.
You'd have to pay me to live by Gowanus. It will take decades to clean that up, and I can't imagine how bad it will be when there are torrential downpours. That said, I suppose there aren't many areas left to develop that doesn't impact established residential neighborhoods. It's why more is being built out in Flushing by the Mets Stadium and the edge of the Newtown creek by Hunters Point and the north end of Greenpoint. Crazy how much has been built over there.
$3000. for a studio ?

8000? That’s it?
I hate what they've done to home.
Rezoning doesn't change the fact that the building is standing over a highly polluted waterway. Plus, I highly doubt that the apartments are going to be 'affordable'.
@@prodigalpriest starting at $750 for a studio is pretty affordable.
Only 25% of the building will be affordable? So once again the Mayor lies saying he wants more affordable housing in NYC. They could have done have of the units at an affordable rate
Terrible
All 90 apts are section 8..
@@johnaltobello5095 they’re not, that’s factually incorrect.
@@matthewwhipple7292 what do you think affordable housing means..$3000.00 is not affordable for many.
@@johnaltobello5095 I think you’re confusing ‘Section 8’ with public housing. Section 8 is a voucher you use for any market rate apartment in NYC.
‘Affordable Housing’ in this case is a lottery based on how much your income is. They range from $700 - $3k based on the bracket you fall in.
This is also all info you can google to educate yourself on before deciding to comment and make a fool of yourself.
@@matthewwhipple7292 what if you don't work..how much will the apt cost?
@@johnaltobello5095 you don’t qualify for an apartment without a minimum income of $31k.
