A teenage girl eating a strawberry with 2 hands got more heat than a grown woman who bought and wore a shirt with a worldwide known hate symbol on it 🤡 Kpop fans constantly using the "They don't know, they weren't taught about this blah blah" excuse every time an idol gets caught in a cultural/racial scandal is getting too old. And it's also pointing out how ignorant so many idols are. I don't expect from idols to know every little detail about ww2, but not recognizing the symbol at all?! What about her staff/manager/friends/translator ANYBODY!! A big company like JYP, not teaching their idols and staff about basic world history is embarrassing, especially since they are expanding into the western entertainment market.
i agree especially on the last part like before debuting, idols should be taught about basic world history and about other cultures given that theyre gonna have a big social platform theyre gonna have a big influence theyre gonna have fans all around the world when they debut and theyre gonna eventually be touring the world where it is essential/crucial that we do not want to offend communities in those parts of the world being a public figure do u get what im saying- i cant articulate it well like if were gonna expand our market to the rest of the world, it should be the barest of the bare minimum to be educated in other cultures and be conscious of how were gonna engage with [international] fans
The fact that I saw Some Chae stans who BRUSHED IT OFF and blamed the people pointing out the Nazi Symbol for bringing up such a controversial event, using the Buddhism card as an excuse and outright saying 'you people don't care about this symbol, why even hate on Chae?' is just *sending me so much LIKE GIRL ARE YOU FCKING FOR REAL*
no cuz as a once it’s weird seeing other onces under her comments saying we love you chaeyoung and telling people not to hate on her just cuz she apologized😭like BRO. apologizing is the BARE MINIMUM. plus, i’ve heard she went to school for only 5 days, which is another reason why minors shouldn’t be in the k-pop industry.
Wow so jyp wants to push his idols to the international market especially the western market without sending their idols to school and not even bothering about giving them basic history classes nOiCe💀
I don’t think some fans understand how serious this, because here in Germany the hakenkreuz is a forbidden symbol and if you wear that in public you’ll get sued.
i'm not gonna leave a huge long comment but the price of expanding your group internationally? you just have to be more conscientious about how you engage with the world and with fans
They really should either start teaching the idols or their staff about different cultures/what isn't acceptable or have specific staff to look over all those things if they want to stop getting into trouble every second comeback
Ppl keep saying “Chaeyoung isn’t stupid but she definitely messed up…” blah blah, but how do y’all know she’s not stupid. Ppl in general are stupid so I think it’s ok to call out her stupidity. A lot of idols are stupid, stop protecting them when they make their stupidity known.
@@lovelyjack lol being truthful and acknowledging stupidity is not bullying. It’s not the worse thing in the world to be stupid, everyone can’t be a genius. @@chelsie_coa That is the "hilarious" part of some K-Pop fans: they are quick to defend their faves by calling them "naive" but if someone else does it.... And about the rising sun, when Maroon 5 used it in their website they got a lot of hate from their korean fans and then they removed it. Why is chaeyoung's situation different?
the fact she posted the photo with the sid vicious shirt, to her millions of instagram followers, leads me to believe she genuinely did not know the meaning behind the shirt and the symbol on the shirt. however, the fact that some fans are defending her with ideas such as "most koreans aren't taught ww2, because it's american history" is ridiculous. popular idols such as the members of twice, have had more exposure to different parts of the world (due to concerts, promotions, interviews etc) and the different cultures/people that reside in those countries more than any of us will in our lifetimes. for this reason, i believe that at the very bare MINIMUM, chaeyoung MUST have known what nazi symbolism was. there is simply no excuse. however, at the same time, this does shed some light on many idols ignorance due to their sheltered lifestyles under the protection of their companies and massive fan-bases. i think this is a situation of blatant obliviousness, ignorance and laziness. she may not have directly had bad intentions, but i truely hope she's learnt from her mistake.
Also, WWII isn't just American history. It's world history. It's in the name. Most countries of the world were affected in some way and the ones that weren't surely weren't shielded from it in a historical context. I'm gonna leave this lengthy comment to get Chae Stans their priorities: Debunking the claims of defending Chaeyoung: 1.) "Koreans aren't affected much by Germans" *- The entire Korean Peninsula (North and South) was colonized and abused by Imperial Japan during the 1900s until the end of WW2 in 1946. Imperial Japan is closely allied to Nazi Germany during the war to gain raw resources in the vast territory of the Korean Peninsula; and the Manchuria region of China. The excuse to say that Koreans aren't affected by Germans during the war is utterly ignorant. Koreans learn WW2 independently even if some (North Korea) uses it as a propaganda movement to their students. However, this doesn't deter the fact that with learning Imperial Japanese history on the peninsula, they also have knowledge on the alliance with Nazi Germany and the war crimes of Hitler during the war.* 2.) "It is a Swastika symbol for Buddhism/Hinduism" *- Yes the origin of the Hakenkreuz/Swastika came from the religion of Buddhism/Hinduism. However, the Hakenkreuz is different from the angle of the Swastika. The original swastika is tilted to the right and usually has 4 dots in each leg/corner. However; Hakenkreuz is tilted to the left with a red flag border and a circle as padding. The excuse of saying that the t shirt symbolizes the Religious Swastika is a derogatory choice to defend Chaeyoung. The t shirt itself has a man with the Hakenkreuz symbol on the t shirt that the man is wearing. That is an obvious indication that the t shirt isn't referring to an ancient and important symbol for Buddhists/Hindus.* 3.) "People don't care about the Hakenkreuz symbol so why hate Chaeyoung?" *- WW2 is an important and the most destructive war in history of mankind. To be able to say something so profoundly controversial in a way basically gives the middle finger to the generation of a person's family who suffered under the time frame of WW2 (1939-1946). WW2 is taught everywhere in different ways, but one thing for sure is that Nazism/Fascism is an important factor in the teachings of WW2. From the points of propaganda to the point of politics in government and censorship, it is not an excuse to be able to say that people don't care about such horrific events. Do we just throw the Jewish victims out of the park? The handicap? The blacks? The LGBTQ+? The women who were abused in every country? Those who had to leave their family for the war? Do these people not realize that every single person alive right now in this world is a descendant of a great family member that was in one of these extreme events; or was still horrifyingly affected by the outcomes of the war.* 4.) "She's not educated on this" *- Chaeyoung is 23, a grown woman. She studied at Hanlim Arts High School. Saying she was dropped out of this school is a compromise. Sure, she is an idol that is schooled based on the time frame fit for an idol; but idol schooling also learns history. They cannot leave out something as important as WW2. And even if it wasn't, are they just gonna ignore the effects that Japan had done to Korea? It is such a heinous understanding that idols aren't taught of this event in a manner that is unacceptable. No excuses for lack of education that stans can give to Chaeyoung, unless of course; she is in poverty. But she isn't! She is a member of one of the most popular girl groups, she has money to get educated. This is a no brainer to an educated person to be able to know this.*
Your 4th point She's 23 not 26 Her school attendance was 5 days. You’re viewing this from the lens of World War II being a global event means everyone has to be aware of every perspective of the war. The truth is most people only really know about the history that impacts them. Sure, people can be familiar with the part of World War II that wasn’t part of their history in the abstract sense, but they lack the ability to empathize with just how brutal the other side of the war was. My Russian friends for example are very ignorant of the pacific theater that was only involving America. My Korean friends do not feel affected by the tragedy that happened on the eastern front of the European theater other than “waaa so many Russian die”. Same with my American friends. They may know millions of Russians died but they don’t feel the scars and pain of that event. Point being, they may have a high level familiarity of nazi Germany, but they don’t have a strong viewpoint on them or the various Nazi memorabilia. So holding them to the same standard you would a European and American is asinine. But do you know the symbols of Japanese imperialism? Would you recognize one if you saw it on a shirt? I don’t think it’s okay that Chaeyoung was wearing a swastika and I think all of us should try to be informed, but we do have to acknowledge that most Americans are as ignorant about what is offensive in Korea as Chaeyoung is about what is offensive in NY.
@@OblivionZXZ I agree. I never learned why it happened in the first place nor did I learn about all of the major places that it happened in, I only remember there was one in Auschwitz. Through YT videos I learned about the horrific unethical science experiments that they conducted on Jewish people. Even in World History I didn't fully dive into the Holocaust. A lot of the things I learned to watching videos on my own time or even seeing posts on social media talking about it. I'm pretty sure I learned all of the neo-n**i symbols online, and that my school taught me none of it. And throughout this whole time I've never learned about German's allies nor about Japan's oppression of Asia. A lot of the things about Japan I was able to learned through controversies in Kpop, such as when Mina from Twice wore the hat with the rising sun flag on it, Tiffany from SNSD using the rising sun flag emoji, or when Dahyun from Twice wore a tshirt in support of the many Korean women that were forced to pleasure soldiers in Japan at the time.
@@OblivionZXZ ok let’s flip it. If an American artist wore a burning sun flag and their fans excuse was ‘ she didn’t learn about it in school’( which I’m very well certain they didn’t since countries only care about educating their own history). The fact that she bought that doesn’t make me think she’s a fascist, it just shows ignorance and stupidity, and that is the problem, she thought it was edgy and it just lets me know how disconnected from reality she really is and how much she doesn’t care with whatever that wack ass apology was
okay as a jewish person, i truly dont understand how non-jewish people can just allow this to roll of their backs so easily? like obviously her stylist maybe or maybe not knew what they were doing, but even if it was a mistake like you have to take accountability, and me personally as a long time chaeyoung fan, im just having trouble getting past this. not because of her, but the fact that many of her fans (nonjews) are just kinda letting this slide and not calling her out on her shit! like she needs to get educated so this doesnt happen again, mind you this has already happened with the QAnon thing. idk if im making sense but i hope someone sees this
Exactly. You see it time and time again when shit like this happens in kpop or elsewhere. It's always only Jewish people sticking up for our people. No one else seems to give a shit. The fact I saw people on Twitter saying Jewish people can't be upset at chaeyoung because WW2 didn't only affect Jewish people. Like bruh I'm so done with kpop stan culture
And they're RIGHT about to go on tour like you couldn't fuck up any harder and faster. A good CHUNK of the world knows about the H*l*caust and n**i symbols so there really is no defending her about "she didn't know🥺" she's too old for that and it's very disappointing bc I love Twice a lot
chaeyoung stans and onces trends hashtags like NINE OR NONE, clearing the searches, and cares more on the fact that people are unstanning instead of the damage she has done for the jewish people is just so sick and wild to me that they’re acting this way…. like that’s where your priority lies? but it’s kpop of course the fans are going to lose their morals and act fucking stupid
Tbh it's just arrogance and ignorance same thing with black culture appropriation like if you want to reach a western audience you better educate yourself on topics like this
Can’t make an excuse about Koreans not knowing about this bc Koreans are on her ass and they said they are taught about WWll and about this type of stuff💀
i feel really disappointed in chaeyoung...i dont think shes an actual nazi supporter but wearing shirts like these to be "edgy" is so weird. i genuinely hope that she just made an honest mistake and it doesnt mean anything but...overall very bad situation.
exactly, this is likely not intent but the impact is felt regardless. it's just ridiculous to not have any kind of cultural training or education on this if she's in one of the biggest girl groups in the world, and also ridiculous that JYPE didn't have anyone from the US look over the stylist's "patriotic" styling choices to make sure the outfits made sense to their audience and didn't include hate symbols.
I can only imagine how Jewish Onces feel about this, especially with non-Jewish folks overstepping their boundaries to excuse her behavior. These awful fans only care about having access to their faves instead of caring about the people hurt by her actions. If an idol in a US city where there's a significantly black population like Atlanta or New Orleans wore a shirt with a confederate flag on it, even as an ironic joke, I'd be upset and disappointed. It's not that hard to be empathetic of other people's feelings and demand accountability on her part.
as a jew, its so odd to see non-jews defending her behaviour. no matter how much trouble their fav will get into they will support them. they also just use that they're "succesful" or that "they just sold out." i feel like theyre just babying chaeyoung.
My country didn't even took part in the World war 2 and we still know about Nazism. Since world war was very important to Korea, they obviously study about it too
@@cranburrey I doubt she wore it because it contained a nazi symbol (like who would do a career suicide at the height of their fame in USA). It can be possible that she did not know the meaning of the symbol in the shirt. Which, to be honest, is more fu*ked up, like I am an Indian girl who is almost ten years younger than her and I am more educated about this symbol than her, and the topic of holocaust will taught to is in school next year. Like, Chaeyoung, my girl, do you have internet?
Girly didn’t pack any other clothing except for this one shirt for sure cz why was she wearing this EVERYWHERE?????????💀 And the fact those T-shirts aren’t even sold in everywhere coz a lot of places know how problematic they’re to be sold As sapherdic Jewish completely not in her side cuz she know what she's doing
The way her stans have this "well hurry up and forgive her already" attitude pisses me off (and that's if they're mentally stable enough to realize what she was wearing have offended people most affected by it)
Chae is honestly so lucky no one assaulted her while she was wearing this out, bc there's a ton of vids of guys getting punched in the face for wearing the same thing in public. Also her wearing it at a Jewish owned restaurant.. yikes...
There also is the fact that even if we assume she didn't know, like why wasn't this clocked by management like don't these idols have to send these pictures to their managers before they upload them to make they don't upload smth wrong
also the fact that people saying twice done is just so unserious. If one of the biggest boy bands can go some weird shit like this and be fine, twice will be good too.
Anti semitism sadly is on the rise in the US so it hurts especially bad to see her weak as apology. I’m so genuinely disappointed in her because out of everyone in twice she seemed the most understanding of topics like these. I can’t believe people would defend this type of thing because we actively all see the consequences of ww2 and it’s just so sad.
Another thing for the fans doing everything to defend her is that they need to understand nobody "sane" is saying to put her on a stake and burn her alive for what she's done but she did something extremely ignorant and she's facing the consequences of her own actions. Like she HAS to learn from this and she's never going to forget this and people won't let her forget either. She just needs to educate herself and NEVER do this shit again.
I truly don’t think it matters if they don’t teach this in korea. if you want to be world famous you should maybe know the most recognized hate symbol in the entire world
Korea and Japan had a very complicated relationship in the 1940’s and guess who was a major player in world war 2…. JAPAN. You definitely learn about the basics of WW2 in a country as affected as South Korea. Also if it was me getting called out for a Q Anon shirt, I would watch what I was caught wearing for the next while. I think she probably thought the shirt looked cool and ignored the whole symbolism not even just of a the nazi symbol but everything that happened with the sex pistols. I’m just not buying the whole, idk what this internationally recognised symbol is thing.
people saying that ww2 is not taught in south korea sound STUPID. first of all what do you mean by american history?? it's literally world history wtf. they teach this everywhere😭 do they think idols live in another planet or something? i'm south american and i will learn abt ww2 this year cause i'm in ninth grade. STILL, i know very well what that symbol means and who the nazis were and you wanna tell me a 23 year old doesn't💀
Yall are delusional to think that she wouldn't recognize a nazi symbol like bffr. I'm from a third-world country that has awful education and was not involved in any way in WW2 and YES, WE DO LEARN ABOUT THE NAZIS.There is no way a 23-year-old rich Korean woman wouldn't recognize that symbol, so what I think happened is that she looked at it and didn't give a fuck, she probably thought it was cool or edgy, you know like when 13-year-olds think drawing Hakenkreuz on desks makes them rebellious, that kinda behavior says a lot about her.
the fact that racist and antisemitic people on Twitter were making fun of this situation should be enough to know how stuff like this harms Jewish people and other minorities in so many ways
honestly, i refuse to believe that she doesn't know that it's a nazi logo bc isn't that like common knowedge??? it's also disgusting how her stans are babying her and acting as if she's naive like she's literally a grown ass adult and she has the resources to educate herself

And about the rising sun, when Maroon 5 used it in their website they got a lot of hate from their korean fans and then they removed it. Why is chaeyoung's situation different?
the fact she posted the photo with the sid vicious shirt, to her millions of instagram followers, leads me to believe she genuinely did not know the meaning behind the shirt and the symbol on the shirt. however, the fact that some fans are defending her with ideas such as "most koreans aren't taught ww2, because it's american history" is ridiculous. popular idols such as the members of twice, have had more exposure to different parts of the world (due to concerts, promotions, interviews etc) and the different cultures/people that reside in those countries more than any of us will in our lifetimes. for this reason, i believe that at the very bare MINIMUM, chaeyoung MUST have known what nazi symbolism was. there is simply no excuse. however, at the same time, this does shed some light on many idols ignorance due to their sheltered lifestyles under the protection of their companies and massive fan-bases. i think this is a situation of blatant obliviousness, ignorance and laziness. she may not have directly had bad intentions, but i truely hope she's learnt from her mistake.

and by saying she doesn’t know about ww2 or basic world history is also just infantilizing koreans like…
I don’t feel bad for her at all. There is so much blood and hatred behind that symbol. “ I didn’t know is not enough “
speak on it!!!
not only did chaeyoung wear this shirt once, she OWNS it and has worn it more than once. and this shirt is extremely hard to get… it’s not something you get for $5 in a gift shop or something. this is flabbergasting
Oh my god
That's not true. People deliberately spread that as misinformation. You can literally get it for 19 dollars online at 15 vendors right now.
It’s very easy to find. Like extremely easy and it’s only expensive if you buy the censored version.
@@dippledopple I love her to death but I’m only calling people out who spread misinformation, and are calling her a nazi. Heck I’ve been called a nazi lover because I’m response to what someone said “she almost 30 she should know better” and I said “how is 23 almost 30” and people thought I defended her because of that. And people are misusing the definition of hate crime in this situation. Just because it’s against the law doesn’t mean it’s a hate crime. Like it’s a simple google search.
@@thatoneweirdkidthatyoudisl6723 “simple google search” says wearing (displaying) a hate symbol can get you arrested. it is a literal hate crime in new york, the place she was in. ridiculous. you claim you aren’t defending her but start to make these excuses that make the situation seem so much lighter than it truly is. why even reply “how is 23 pushing 30”???? like. bffr.
reading back my comment + reading more articles has made me realize that this comment was made to hastily,, and displaying the n*zi symbol is not truly considered a hate crime by law, due to freedom of speech. however, it some cases, while not specifically a hate crime; it can still be a crime, which is what i was trying to shed light on.
Also is very disappointed how the fans been trending her name on Twitter to “clean” her name searches…
That's called sabotaging
she also wore the shirt at the bbmas TOO, theres a video of her wearing it while talking to kim petras… 😬
I'm gonna leave this lengthy comment to get Chae Stans their priorities:
Debunking the claims of defending Chaeyoung:
1.) "Koreans aren't affected much by Germans"
*- The entire Korean Peninsula (North and South) was colonized and abused by Imperial Japan during the 1900s until the end of WW2 in 1946. However, this doesn't deter the fact that with learning Imperial Japanese history on the peninsula, they also have knowledge on the alliance with Nazi Germany and the war crimes of Hitler during the war.*
2.) "It is a Swastika symbol for Buddhism/Hinduism"
*- Yes the origin of the Hakenkreuz/Swastika came from the religion of Buddhism/Hinduism. That is an obvious indication that the t shirt isn't referring to an ancient and important symbol for Buddhists/Hindus.*
3.) "People don't care about the Hakenkreuz symbol so why hate Chaeyoung?"
*- WW2 is an important and the most destructive war in history of mankind. Do these people not realize that every single person alive right now in this world is a descendant of a great family member that was in one of these extreme events; or was still horrifyingly affected by the outcomes of the war.*
4.) "She's not educated on this"
*- Chaeyoung is 23, a grown woman.
Thank you for this nuanced and well written/researched comment, it should have wayyyyy more likes omg
Facts💋
Your 4th point
She's 23 not 26
Her school attendance was 5 days.
I'm in 12th grade(the last year of High school in America) and I don't know if it's just my school or the education system over here, but so far I've learned absolutely nothing about the Holocaust.
I didn't dive into the holocaust until high school, even then the most the school did was give me Anne Frank's diary to read along with reading Night by Elie Wiesel.
Would it be a good excuse? No,Unless this said person lived in a heavily censored country or were in poverty, then I assume they have access to the internet/ social media and books through libraries etc. It takes one yt video to learn that Japan was an imperialist coloniser of many countries in Asia. I was not taught about Native American history or ww2 in Asia . I used the internet and books to gain this knowledge and I still am very uneducated in other areas of world history but i aim to learn about these areas. Obviously I don’t expect ppl to know the depths of history around the globe but simply the brief outline e.g that the nazis killed many types of people or that the hakenkreuz is an incrediblyyyy offensive symbol. And at the end of the day if you really don’t recognise a symbol at all you should probably not buy it.
Let me add: you can get into legal trouble in some countries, in some even for owning that shirt, like the flag with the Hakenkreuz is banned in more than 30 countries
it seems so condescending when ppl act like idols don't know shit like korea was a part of ww2... they know! i understand saying that about the QAnon shirt bc im sure there are even americans who don't recognize that, but the hakenkreuz is inexcusable.
please call it a hakenkreuz or the hooked cross the nazis appropriated this symbol. the word “swastika” has sanskrit roots and means “the mark of well being., it's been used since prehistorical time and it's kind of an important symbol in buddhism.
@@gyal7892 oh sorry thank you for telling me! I knew the symbol was stolen but I didn't know the name was as well.
i'm jewish. and as a chaeyoung bias, this hurts. like we love her for standing up for lgbtq+ and women's rights and all that but the second anything related to history happens, "she just wasn't taught about it"? do y'all not hear yourselves? she wore a shirt with a man who murdered his girlfriend and was defended by his band, with a symbol that people recognize as a nazi thing, and a war that affected the whole world, not just europe. antisemitism still exists. i don't even know why shirts with the symbol (that's being used the wrong way) can still be purchased and i don't know why chaeyoung did. you guys have got to stop with the whole "koreas school system is bad". yes it is bud, but korea was affected as well, they learn about these things.
thank you, Aja, for addressing this. even thought lots of people are defending her, i'm seeing more and more posts addressing her behavior and actually holding her accountable.
Ouch.. you think you guys are the only one who has suffered like that? Say that to Asian whose being invaded for hundreds of years treated like animals by white people, and white people treat them as a hero. I bet most white people don't know that.
Btw nazi not only genoside Jewish, they also treat LGBTQ people that way. Chaeyoung supported LGBT is in one way a proof she doesn't support nazi. Nazi kills LGBT people while chaeyoung support lgbt, still think she support nazi??
She is a grown woman of the 21st century who grew up with a good education in a first world country. There are no good excuses.
not defending her but how do we know this? she’s been a trainee since 13
@@loveyloveydovey And? What does her being a trainee have to do with anything and Ur acting like most trainees and idols don’t go to school when in reality most do their are some cases like blackpink where they had to dropout because yg said so but every active Jyp idol has graduated from school and we literally saw her graduate highschool in February 2019 and she didn’t go to a normal highschool she went to one of the best schools in Seoul which makes sense her and tzuyu both went there and are famous wealthy idols. Korea as a whole has the one of the best education system in the world so I doubt she wasn’t taught about ww2 when ww2 is a big part of South Korea history from ww2 being a reason why north and South Korea are split and during ww2 South Korea was attacked/targeted from being sexually assaulted, tortured and killed just for being Korean by Japan from them working with German nazis because Japan was apart of the axis powers.

I just find it interesting that she wore a shirt with Sid Vicious on it: a drug addict, who was accused of murdering his girlfriend. Those two things alone would've had Twice's Korean fan-base clutching their pearls.
She's lucky that she was in LA while wearing this shirt because I don't think she would've made it to the end of a block, here in NYC without getting cussed out.

Biggest con of stan culture. It's okay to make genuine mistakes and take accountability, but the amount of people who willingly support idols blindly is insane. How can these people make mistakes and learn from them if big portions of their fanbase will defend them no matter what? Crazy times.

I know for a fact If this was blackpink or Aespa people would be coming for them hard but since it’s Jyp idols like twice or Itzy nobody really cares and the hypocrisy is insane. I don’t like any of the groups I mentioned but I use to like blackpink and twice but not anymore since both of their music became ass since 2019 but I noticed how much people excuse twice and itzy bullshit I honestly don’t know why is it because people see them as more innocent due to their image or what?
This situation is very grey, she might not have known or she might have. But the people coming on the internet basically saying that Koreans don't know sh!t about world history, it's giving racial misconceptions. Be serious fr

The fact I saw people on Twitter saying Jewish people can't be upset at chaeyoung because WW2 didn't only affect Jewish people. Like bruh I'm so done with kpop stan culture
They need cultural training in these companies for everybody down to stylist to the idols because ain’t no way this should happening
Tbh it's just arrogance and ignorance same thing with black culture appropriation like if you want to reach a western audience you better educate yourself on topics like this
This is even worse since WW2 is like taught everywhere as well as the Nazi symbol so for the stylists to not know this, nor Chaeyoung? That's fcked up
@@Chrono_topher tbh at this point I think they are doing it on purpose for publicity stunts

i feel really disappointed in chaeyoung...i dont think shes an actual nazi supporter but wearing shirts like these to be "edgy" is so weird. i genuinely hope that she just made an honest mistake and it doesnt mean anything but...overall very bad situation.
exactly, this is likely not intent but the impact is felt regardless. it's just ridiculous to not have any kind of cultural training or education on this if she's in one of the biggest girl groups in the world, and also ridiculous that JYPE didn't have anyone from the US look over the stylist's "patriotic" styling choices to make sure the outfits made sense to their audience and didn't include hate symbols.
*"I didn't know" about the WORLD WAR II that your OWN country was affected by and is still facing the aftermath of with Japan?????*

4chan, reddit and a discordian 😭
@@cranburrey I doubt she wore it because it contained a nazi symbol (like who would do a career suicide at the height of their fame in USA). It can be possible that she did not know the meaning of the symbol in the shirt. Which, to be honest, is more fu*ked up, like I am an Indian girl who is almost ten years younger than her and I am more educated about this symbol than her, and the topic of holocaust will taught to is in school next year. Like, Chaeyoung, my girl, do you have internet?

honestly i think she's actually very sick idk cuz i know she thought that sid vicious shirt ate down
and ppl were like "she's korean, she doesn't know" infantalizing east asians once again ouuu it was bad for them
the way she was eating at a jewish owned restaurant too like..
I can’t believe people would defend this type of thing because we actively all see the consequences of ww2 and it’s just so sad.
well besides this.. i hope youre spring break is going well !
I truly don’t think it matters if they don’t teach this in korea. if you want to be world famous you should maybe know the most recognized hate symbol in the entire world
Apparently the restaurant she took the pic with was also owned by a jewish family? I- 😭😭
Korea and Japan had a very complicated relationship in the 1940’s and guess who was a major player in world war 2….
In conclusion i think her motive for wearing these shirts wasnt malicious but rather stupid. Its still fucked up and she should make a better apology
I love your guidelines
people saying that ww2 is not taught in south korea sound STUPID. first of all what do you mean by american history?? it's literally world history wtf. they teach this everywhere😭 do they think idols live in another planet or something? i'm south american and i will learn abt ww2 this year cause i'm in ninth grade.
