I was originally just replying to people in the top comment, but there are WAY too many replies to I’m just gonna make my own comment. They literally are making new black characters but nobody does their research and just assume. Is her being white important? She’s a fairy!! If the actress gives off tinker bell energy then she should be able to play her without being attacked. This has also happened with young actresses they end up CRYING bc “they’re too dark for the role” y’all are saying “I’m not racist.. it’s just my opinion but face it, you are. It’s honestly so sad that we seem to be going backwards in history since an actress who is black can’t play a white character WHOS SKIN TONE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE STORY without being attacked. “Well they got mad about the Lilo and Stich casting” “Well if we turned Tiana black-“ no. If y’all have ever actually watched Lilo and Stich then you would know that it has CULTURAL dances, and details in it. It’s IMPORTANT to their story. Next, Princess and the frog was set in the 1920s, during segregation, so it was EXTREMELY difficult for a black women (also there was sexism too) to get success. So yes, it is important for both of them to NOT be played be an race that isn’t their own. Also, They’ve done this before but for some reason this year people have a problem with it. So respectfully, no.
Girl, You’ve ATEEEEE THAT UPPP. I AGREE WITH YOU. People are really showing their true colors in these comments. Plus, some people are saying that- “Tinkerbell being black ruined my childhood!1!1!1!1!” Like BE so FUCKING For real. If somebodys skin color affects YOU so bad, Then you should honestly hop off the fucking internet.
FINALLY SOMEONE WITH COMMON SENSE!! Like saying “I’m not racist” doesn’t mean you can’t be racist + it’s just an actor, so there’s no point in getting mad about them “changing” white characters to black. I can assure you tinker bell will still be advertised as white, UNLESS it has anything to do with the MEDIA they added diversity in!! Look at Ariel/The little mermaid, you will still see a white Ariel from time to time, same with Halle’s (not sure if that’s spelt right) Ariel!
I don't actually care what skin colour they have, but the ones that are having those roles are really pretty in my opinion and there is no point to hate someone for being black. If somebody doesn't likes those new movies, why should they watch it?
I personally think that the colour of someone makes them who they are, because of the culture, the social history, everything. So yes, while in some movie the skin as more or less impact, I thinks it is always important. Let’s take an exemple : the hair colour. It doesn’t have a major impact on the story, but we still do everything to match up the story perfectly. So even if an actress is super cool and fit Ginny role perfectly (from Harry Potter), she will need to have red hair ! We won’t put a blond into that role. But to go back to the main subject, I still think that we need to stop changing characters colours and just create new roles for everyone. We can make new black skinned princesses, we can make new Asian characters, we can make gay ones, lesbian, aromatic or bald princesses, anything really.
They keep changing white characters to black and I know representation is important but really all they’re doing is throwing the white characters to the side and redesigning them completely.
Yes 👍 like they may be satisfying one group but there making another unhappy but we are not allowed to be offended because then we are labeled as racist so they can be racist to white people
@poiysch I’m not saying that you should pass someone up because they’re black but it seems that many white roles are being filled by black people. I love Hailey as Ariel! Her voice and acting is stunning! But it seems as though directors are LOOKING for black actors for movies now and that’s just not right… For white and black people.
@@DuskMoon38Because y’all whites dont get oppressed. Y’all were the main ones who were racist to ALL of us. Plus, Black people barely get any Rep in disney. Yeah, Tiana, But She is the only one. While you guys have LOADS of white disney characters.
In my opinion, Ariels skin color doesn't not matter. She's a fairy tale mermaid, probably based on old folklore. And you said "Throwing the white characters to the side" as if movies and princesses haven't catered to white people for years. Black characters were always the comic relief friends. But now that they're getting main roles ppl throw a fit. Getting different colored actresses to play princesses give children a wider range to relate to! (Unless the princess is SPECIFICALLY based on a culture) People are making it seem harmful when really it's refreshing to see. White Ariel will always be the og, (and my personal fav) But she isn't overshadowed. No hate tho! I understand what u mean 100% :)
Now I'm probably gonna get hate for this but when I first saw the trailer of the live action Peter Pan I thought they replace TinkerBell with Iridessa and I was so confused on why they replace Tinkerbell with Iridessa but when I found out that was Tinkerbell I kinda shocked then shrugged it off
Nah they kinda ruined tinker bell just to lazyaly representation black people like she already has a balck friend and there is literally Native people in Peter pan which is kinda dark skined and wasn't one of the lost boy black like they may be satisfying one group but making another one unhappy because they literally ruined peoples childhood like this is not the way of going about representation they should make a new black character not race swap and im not racist btw because I said they need to make a new black character not make no black characters
@@DuskMoon38Cry about it. If someone having darker skin color “ruins” your childhood, Then you shouldn’t be on the internet, then. It is literally the same story but as told with a Black tinkerbell. Plus, You white people literally have TONS of white characters in media, While black people barely get anything. It isnt fair, And let US be happy, And enjoy it.
Disney needs to stop blackwashing characters (black washing is a thing, even a black person conformed it) and make new black characters instead of blackwashing
There are two reasons why the new tinkerbell is black. 1. Same with scooby doo, the creators make their old characters black because of complaints of so many white princesses, but now disney is making many shows with different types of races, and people are still complaining. 2. I’m not sure why people are complaining about the actors being black, which is fairly racist. The creators don’t choose the cast just because of their race, (this often happens) it’s because of their talent.
I think they should've kept her white-skinned purely because that's what she was from the start. If they want a dark-skinned fairy, *make a new character instead of transforming an already-existing one!* That being said, I'm not 100% against race swapping a character, it's just that there are very few circumstances where I think it's a good idea (one such circumstance being "practically a different character" like with Lois in the new "My Adventures With Superman", which is a *good* example of race swapping a character), and even then it depends on how it's executed.

1953 is the best-
Here before the video blows up
👇🏻
2023 looks way better that’s probably my favorite
The 2023 looks amazing but the og will always be 🔛🔝
bro got the Disney remake drip-
that's literally tiana..
erm!
☠ you didnt help (not meant to be rude, laughing I swear I swear)
There's nothing wrong with that.
Just cuz she's black?
They keep changing white characters to black and I know representation is important but really all they’re doing is throwing the white characters to the side and redesigning them completely.
Yes 👍 like they may be satisfying one group but there making another unhappy but we are not allowed to be offended because then we are labeled as racist so they can be racist to white people
@@DuskMoon38 THANK YOU!!
0:30 is obviously the best tinkerbell
No one beats my og tinker bell 😭🤣
My only question is..... Disney its enough already
Now I'm probably gonna get hate for this but when I first saw the trailer of the live action Peter Pan I thought they replace TinkerBell with Iridessa and I was so confused on why they replace Tinkerbell with Iridessa but when I found out that was Tinkerbell I kinda shocked then shrugged it off
Finally someone who isn't racist!
Frrrr
@@DuskMoon38Cry about it. If someone having darker skin color “ruins” your childhood, Then you shouldn’t be on the internet, then. It is literally the same story but as told with a Black tinkerbell. Plus, You white people literally have TONS of white characters in media, While black people barely get anything. It isnt fair, And let US be happy, And enjoy it.
2023 ain't Tinkerbell
the og one is a favourite since i’ve grew up watching that version
The first tinkerbell is the best for me.
❤❤❤
You should be sure because your actually first! Congratulations🎉
Yay !!
Disney needs to stop blackwashing characters (black washing is a thing, even a black person conformed it) and make new black characters instead of blackwashing
💀💀💀💀✨
0:06 I love that divine tinker bell design
There are two reasons why the new tinkerbell is black.
1. Same with scooby doo, the creators make their old characters black because of complaints of so many white princesses, but now disney is making many shows with different types of races, and people are still complaining.
2. I’m not sure why people are complaining about the actors being black, which is fairly racist. The creators don’t choose the cast just because of their race, (this often happens) it’s because of their talent.
I think they should've kept her white-skinned purely because that's what she was from the start. If they want a dark-skinned fairy, *make a new character instead of transforming an already-existing one!*
That being said, I'm not 100% against race swapping a character, it's just that there are very few circumstances where I think it's a good idea (one such circumstance being "practically a different character" like with Lois in the new "My Adventures With Superman", which is a *good* example of race swapping a character), and even then it depends on how it's executed.
I am glad Disney is hiring black voice actors though.
FIRST THEY CHANGE ARIEL TO BLACK AND NOW TINKERBELL?! THAT IS BLACKWASHING!!😭😭💀💀💀
Sometime in 2045:
Every disney character is now Black, even tho they originally were white.💀💀💀
Y’all white people ALWAYS are reprensented in media, and cartoons. While black people, Barely get any disney princesses or black main characters to look up to. You do realize It is important to us, Right? it is literally important to have rep for everyone. To make everyone happy.
Lmfao everybody gonna be black in the new movies
So close! Blackwashing isn’t a thing becuase it’ll never affect white people in the same way it affect poc when they are whitewashed!!😁😁
The og is the best in my opinion bcs i grew up with it
My favorite out of all of them is tinkerbell
