I'm happy to hear you talk so much about the amount of room animals need. It's because of some of the things you've said in the past that I decided to get my daughter a redfoot tortoise. Your suggestions really made me consider the enclosure size that this little tortoise will need once she is full grown.
Heck yeah! I'll keep saying it, I'd LOVE to see Tanner involved in the rescaping of the Reptile Cave! Haha 😅 and can't wait to see all the progression over the coming years! 🤗💜🦖
@@KampKenan no Kenan lol. If I ever get a private tour to visit the kamp I'm calling the black throat monitors "Whip-it and Deebo" or Devo. It's what we the community at RUclips called them after you addressed it in the comment section and in updated videos since than. Sorry not sowry I'm not change them from their original namesakes to " *TheTwins* " 🙄🖐🐉🐉
Sweet, sweet , sweet!! My arms are scared up nicely too..lizards and work..not self-harming!!.. I miss my Bosc monitor..she was such a joy. Great work Kenan as alway!! Much love you and respect to you
This is great!!! Being able to really see them. Plants would be a great addition to the area. Low light plants should be able to grow with a minimum addition of lights. Tell Matt to take care of himself. This kind of injury is so painful. All your ideas sound great! Keep up the good work! How is Marge faring during this cold weather? I love to watch Matt with animals, you can tell he really loves all the animals.
Yay!! I love the new Kamp Kenan Kave!! The Twins are going to love all that extra room. I'm really excited for them to get their tunnel to the suncathcer cage outside. What a great life for a pair of blackthoats 😊❤
Their eagerness to explore said it all. They're going to love their new enclosure. Adding outside access and some plants will give them their own little Eden.
That would be a great idea for the inside of the shed! The big sheets of it like they’re using for the weeping wall at the LegaSea would make it pretty easy to figure out and get going 🩶
If I can make a suggestion, I would suggest they make rock shaped flower pots in all sizes now. Rather than dig down under the wires and have a bear of time getting the roots etc back up if it dies, put them in some of those rock shaped pots so you can move them if needed, the lizards will love the texture more and if you need to repot or replace something it becomes to ton easier to do. You can also arrange them as you like at that point.
23:22 Your Aldabra tortoise could possibly get it's foot stuck there. Keep an eye open for it. Absolutely love the new enclosure!! Their going to THRIVE in it!
Having the entrance hole to the outdoor cage up high would look cool! With some wood or a log leading up to it then opens up into a canopy then work their way down
I'm seeing a potential escape point in that upper corner where you fed one of the monitors. It looks like he was possibly digging there before you came upon him, & some of the foam was pulled away. You might want to be sure of what's behind that spot & possibly reinforce that area. It was clear of the caging wire & didn't appear to be attached to anything. Remember how Slinky got the drop on you before. You know how smart these guys are & how they'll exploit any point they find.
Not all plants need dirt or have deep roots. There are some that will grow fine in that medium like aerial plants. You should look into plant species of Tillandsia.
More Blackthroats make me a happy girl!! Sorry I haven't been around for the lives Kenan, I'm in the middle of decorating my new home and busy packing getting ready for the new chapter in my life as a forty something single lady 😊
I would love having a monitor…but in a northern state, I just feel like they deserve better than living indoors more than half the year. I live my dream thru you Kenan! Thank you for all you do. For us, for the animals….
Love this enclosure for them. They are gonna be on cloud 9. They are really gonna grow now. Can’t wait to see the finished product when the outside cage comes. Exciting stuff!!
Hey Kenan, much like what you are doing with the twins set up why don't you take part of Slinkys enclosure and put in a walk in shed for a winter enclosure which works as another hide. Then he doesn't have to leave his enclosure for cold weather and you can better protect it from the harsher weather with its size. I'm sure it can be done with little room being taken up from his giant enclosure
Hey Kenan! A carpenter head got an idea to your idea in the small isolated shed ”Cavern” with universal rocks. Imagine you add as long as the shed is , not so wide about 30cm wide glass in the roof, while the whole shed enclosed in universal rocks looking like a big rock cave, Now you have the sun to shine (no more need of lamps) into the shed and the ground, wich u could plant some plants with huge leaves like a rainforest, green grass and moss, logs, stones, water features, fish, you got the power and contacts to make a small eco system in there if you just add that glass to the roof :) Just an idea that popped up when you said universal rocks and cave, you maybe seen on tv or real life when a roof of a big underground cave fall down, when daylight hits those caves that never seen light before, they bloom, Newly formed eco systems just as ur shed could transform to 😁🤞
And If you add a second glass with same width spaced up evenly on that roof, the sun should shine some on the whole shed floor when the day is over and sun changed position thru the day :)
I can’t wait to see where you go with the rest of the cage .. I love watching the natural and big enclosures you keep your animals in.. do you still have your dog?
Hi Kenan That is such a nice enclosure for the black throates. Plenty of room to climb the walls, and bask under the heat lamp. Great idea to put in live plants. Stewart can come from universal rock, and really make it look nice. ❤🦎Cindy
This new enclosure looks great, I can't wait to see phase 2. One thing that Ed & Emily over at Reptile Discovery learned when making their zoo, climbing lizards mess up lighting and/or cords. So now that the enclosure is escape proof, it's time to make sure that everything in it is monitor proof. You'll want to make sure that any cords, cables, or hoses that the two animals can get to are fully secured and can't be torn off by them.
I absolutely love these videos Kenan. I learn something every video. Maybe I can return the courtesy too with an outsiders observation. I keep looking at the platforms which were awesome for Buttercup but maybe a hazard to the Dynamic Duo. The rounded edges between the boards form a guided wedge with a narrow gap that can possibly lock the iggy's toes between them. If the iggy freaks, that could cause an injury. It's very possible I'm misjudging the gap in the video so please take a moment to have a closer look. Your Vet crew is amazing but rather visits be for fun.
Hey Kenan, if your Reptile Room ends up becoming a naturalistic space, I think you should name it....... KAVE KENAN! Love the videos man, you've helped spark my interest further into the realm of reptiles, and now I am working in the animal care department of my local aquarium and science center!
The difference in reactions to Matt hanging out with and without Kenan. The lizards totally are more defensive when Matt's alone. It's like they are so much more used to Kenan's hands and voice (he's talking all the time, too) lol
Awesome video Kenan!! Love the black throats, yes that's a great idea , put some bright led light in there and get some plants growing in there , that would look great !
“The Lizard Cave” needs to be all decked out in Universal Rocks material. The walls are looking a little…. Orange. 😁 But, the black throats enclosure looks good, I cant wait to see the tunnel get installed.
Hey Kenan and Matt, Kenan, if your going to talk to Stuart at Universal Rock about getting some rock sheets for the REPTILE ROOM 2.0, and your going to do the build on the outside with the tunnel. Then why not ask Stuart to redo the whole space for the Blackthroats, and do an actual interior scape of that area. Then you'd be able to make that space more interactive and enriching just for the black throats? You could have a number of basking ledges of different sizes on the walls. Take down the big patios on both ends and have Stuart design something particularly for the Black Throats for that area. Even including a heated cave inside. Even designing a built in heated Lay Box into the design for when you have a female Blackthroat that's carrying eggs. Another idea would be to put roof windows above the black throats enclosure and over the other side of the Reptile Room for natural light photo periods for all the animals. The window not over the Black Throats Enclosure could also be a vent to allow air exchange inside the whole Reptile Room. The vent addition could be made out of heavy duty screen wire framed in on top of the roof and the window would open up into the screened in area in a way that it makes a definite latch when opened so noone can get out or in. Having a natural air flow vent in the side opposite the Black Throats enclosure would be safe from anything escaping or entering the room and the window could be automatic so that you just press a button to open or close the window. Another addition that would be good would maybe be a Mercury Halide Lamp so you get proper imitation levels of Sunlight that would only be used when you're housing everybody indoors during storms or cold weather. Those Bulbs would also help to heat the space up in addition to the heater you're already using. That would help the animals keep a regular internal cycle when they need to be couped up during storms or temperature drops.
I don't know that you would have to pull out the platforms- or really anything- for universal rocks. I'm p sure you could just encase the platforms in the ledges. And I feel like a vent like that would kind of defeat the purpose of the reptile room to keep everyone warm? I do think a Stuart design would be cool tho
@@StonedtotheBones13 The idea with the vent is for the times that it's too warm and or to just circulate fresh air into the Reptile Room as the air can get stale, as well the monitors using the washroom can sometimes be very strong scent wise. I don't know if you have kept many reptiles, but after a while, even with daily attendance to cleaning, the uric acid in the feces can build up and soak into all kinds of places, so having a vent can be helpful to air it out when and if needed. A vent that isn't accessible for the animals in the ceiling can be a perfect way to control temperature, humidity, and any bad smells that can build up overtime
I sure Brian love them (The Black Throat Monitors), I got a name for the male should be called Brian in remembrance of Brian, and I got feeling when you moved them to new place and you go inside with them on daily basis, they will get use to being with you and get used to being handled and they will like puppy dogs to you and come to you when you go in there place, and if they can listen like we do, it be nice to see if you say their names ie saying the twins, they come to you like what dogs do when you call their names.
