I am from Sevilla, Spain. I meet Kristaps there after a game and I felt very short standing in front of him (I´m 6 feet 2 inches tall)... this was a very strange feeling for me because in south Spain most people are a way shorter than me !!

For a guy who lived his life in Latvia and Spain, he speaks great and fluent english...
HulkVahkiin English is taught as a second language and is used commonly in Latvia and spain
School can't teach shit. Kids in Latvia grow up watching Fallon, Conan and Kimmel on RUclips these days, so many speak fluent English
arzus4 you're not gonna learn English like that bruh, its the second if not the hardest language to learn. Also the majority of European schools are actually quite good, so the notion that the "can't teach shit" is illfounded and inaccurate
arzus4 not saying you can't learn some very basic greetings and phrases from watching tv, but you don't become as good at English as someone like kristaps without formal education or intensive study
English is a pretty simple language to learn (the basics at least) since it has comparably primitive grammar compared to German and a lot of European languages (no grammatical cases, almost no use of genders etc.). Yes, practically everybody here in Latvia has English as the first foreign language at school and it's been that way since early 90s but it wasn't until internet/youtube came along that kids here actually started speaking it fluently. Me included. Never picked up anything at school except messing my mind around a few grammar problems. Picked up most of my English from computer games (Civilization etc.), tv series and talking on the net. So do most who speak it well

If I did not know better, I would think that Fallon did not what KP really is (or at least thinks that after KP first 2 years in NBA many still do not know). Half interview was about how tall he is (even get confused when KP already said that he is 7'3). Why no questions about team chemistry, playing in the national team or hobbies outside basketball, what he likes about NY/Latvia?
Jimmy Fallon isn't really a interviewer in terms of how he runs his talk show. Conan O'Brien fits that mold better, if KP did something like "Outside the Lines" or a more sports-themed show, it would be more in depth. Also, it's clear that this was a filler guest a.k.a Fallon needed a guest he could spend a short amount of time with. Also, Jimmy works off his guests and if you watch KP after Knicks games, he doesn't give long answers to questions.

Kristaps immediately became my favorite player on draft night when he said it's up to him to work hard, turn the boos to cheers and prove worthy of his number 4 (I think it was) pick. Yeah, that was freaking amazing to hear. It actually sent chills down my spine. And to see what he's turned into, from that humble, determined kid, to the present egotistical brat that he is - is difficult. I never thought I'd say this, but I'm GLAD to Knicks jettisoned his ass.
